is that socks?

all u need is a pair of socks~ (u can chose any colors u wan to match ur personal preference~), and in case u wan to replace the old "abit hard" earpad cotton, buy urself a sponge or some cotton (btw, im using sponge and cotton to maximise the comfortability ~~)

step by step:-

1. removed the old hd668B earpad. (u can skip tis if u jus wan to overcome sweaty hot ear problem, works fine and quite comfy, most importantly tis steps oni need less than 3 min to mod ur earpad~XD)
2. grab ur NEW, i repeat NEW, in case u wan some "nice smell" then go ahead with ur current old socks. cover the earpad area by enlarge the entrance of the socks.
3. if u nvr removed old hd668b earpads, jus cut the extra parts of socks and put the extra parts into the old earpad* . IF u removed the old earpads, now is ur time to customise ur preference earpad~~
4. put abit of cotton or sponge (or both), then wrap the content with the socks, and remember, CUT THE SOCKS LONGER FOR LATER FOLLOW 3rd STEP.
5. and viola! ur new earpads DONE!!

thanks for sharing us sure a simple way for mod the earpad but i still don get how can warp it, mind youtube for us?

sosot...does it make a different to the sound quality?

so if i never remove the pad then i need to cut one end of the socks ?

if u jus mod ur earpads, thr wont have any difference, unless u replace the piece of thin sponge or u add in sumthing which will likely block some noise from the songs, u may need to try several times for ur preference, the material u can chose are thin piece of cotton, tissue, cloth, thicker sponge and many more, unleash ur creativity~~

try chose diff colors socks and make ur hd668b more YOURS~

not necessary using socks, u can use the driving sunguard arm glove, which will be easier to wrap the earcups, and more color and design---ie: LACE~~

from the step u mod old earpad or current earpad -> wear the socking for it and do cotton sound good? mind to post some pics for those.

I feel like trying to emulate the velvet mod. XD

nice. there is quite a few mods for 668b as previously shared by iamyuanwu. will update FP with these mods after I am free abit.

ic thanks, use the cotton and warp it to circle? and put few sponge and can be that size ordy? quite amazing help me mod~~

the point is that u needa cut nicely and sticks the cotton and sponge with double-sided tape or sumthing else, and most imprtantly, MEASURE b4 u do it.

OK guys i have checked with stereo singapore.
The DT770 pads are going for $50 SGD. anyone interested?
if can get more pple i think mass order from thomann.de is a better choice

That's the first mod I did. I been wondering why has it not caught on yet until now.

And do the tissue mod to keep the sock in place. And aldo gives your ears more space.

Or if you don't want to use tissue, just take a thin strip of card board, and make it into a ring. Then fit it into the insides of the earpads.

Added on April 13, 2011, 1:53 pmHow to fit DT770 pads onto 668B? I saw the picture and it looks like it was glued onto it.

I know for certain that AKG K240's velour pads fits perfectly onto 668B (simply replace 668B's with K240's). And I've been talking forever about it, and til today I've not ordered it yet.
And some users have noted a small improvement in sound using AKG K240's velour pads.
Some discussions about DT770 pads on SQ of K240. Not very favourable, but hope that doesn't affect 668B's SQ:

I can order it from the local distro for 110 a pair. The distributor told me: 3 months waiting period, 50% deposit.

E1-AKG do RM80 and 8weeks/2months ETA. let gather those who wan then try bulk to get cheaper

well i have not seem the pads physically but it seems that many threads say they fit on the superluxs. and also if u google 240 n dt770, there are threads saying they are interchangable even with hd 250

ya is quite difficult as the cotton was so KACAU! but for comfy, it was the best material~ and the thickness and shape of the sponge do MEAN alot to the earpad, the easy way is to buy a LARGE piece of sponge, so u oni need to cut a hole on the sponge and it can nicely fit onto ur ear~~ u can use thicker sponge to create more room for ur ears (which i alr did it~~), with more space between the ear and the drivers, the sound seems like surrounding in the cans, it feel super nice when u listen to bassy songs~~ cos the bass does remains inside the cans longer(imaginations~~), will try to change the thin piece of cotton with sumthing else when i free today~~ addicted to mod headphones~

Eh, E1-AKG can get K240 velour pads cheaper & faster? Then I no need to susah payah go order and wait like mad for the pads.
