they say the mids are empty cause the models of superlux with a "b" at the ends are "rich bass" models, which means the EQ in the phones will be a bit like \___
*
haiz... b = balance which mean bass not too strong, treble not too weak just enough
rich bass is without any alphabet for Example hd681,hd662

AFAIK it's not rich bass, it's deep bass, or some would say B is for balanced. The 381 series best describes this where the 381 have rich bass, and its freq response is similar to what you suggested, whereas 381B have a nearly flat low freq.

@Invalid
I'm with MrJinggles on the 668B, though lacking in bass for me is more towards lacking in amount, where even a cheap Fiio E3 amp could fix. biggrin.gif

There was a bulk thread in the trade section for the pads: http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopic=1833995&hl=

I'm not sure what their current status is. You could PM the TS and ask.

PM the TS of the link I provided. Ask him if any of them got their velour pads then ask for their opinion. There's a link to Head-Fi provided in that thread as well, look it up.

well, i'd try pairing my Sansa Clip+ with HD381 (B & F), and i noticed that Clip+ couldnt drive it well, frankly not at satisfying level, while its stock earphone give out more brighter sounds hmm.gif

now i need Fiio E5 doh.gif

Dunno really. Most of us here were just going to get one try them for ourselves. Should really help the comfortableness of the 668B, I think.

Btw, HD669 seems like the better choice if you're willing to spend an extra ~RM30 or so. So far all that tested the 669 says that it's better than 668B..

@MrJinggles
Love your new superlux sigs. smile.gif Perhaps you can make one for future 669 users as well. brows.gif

My hd660 just came in.
It have more bass n mids are more forward compared to the 668b.
Burning them in still. But the pads are so much softer n better compared to the 668b
