Guys. I need an opinion. I am planning to upgrade to D700 or 5Dmk2. I dont own a lot of nikon lenses so I'm not inclined or forced to choose a certain brand.

I'm getting this for mostly wedding & event shoots.

1. Should I wait for D800/5Dmk3 or is it okay to buy either of the above cameras now?
2. For weddings & events, which camera is best suited for those occasions?

after counting my ang pow money  , i decided to spend a little on some gears that i have planned previously,

here are the 2 options to choose for,

50mm f/1.4g nikkor or sigma 50mm f/1.4

or

a sb700 and a battery grip

Wondering what should i choose...

depends on what you want to shoot bro ... if you're into flash photography then by all means get the SB700 + batt grip ... if ur lookin for a fast prime then either the Nikkor or Sigma is a good buy ... but for the Sigma i suggest you really test it out before you purchase it ...

no la still cant afford to buy any 'nano' coating lens yet =(

sb-800 vs sb-900? sb-900 got over heating probs. does this stop anyone from buying it? wut about events. sb-900 gonna let the owner down?

1. Just my 2 sen. There's always better cameras coming out. You can play the waiting game and forever be camera-less. When the new bodies come out, it'll probably be too expensive.  You'd probably have missed several great opportunities too.

2. Depends on what lenses you have and if you were to change system, how much losses you would incur... Basically, the D700 is nice but the advantage of the 5D Mark II is the video. Is that important for your style of photography? What you can do is get a D700 and use your D90 as your backup. If you're serious about wedding / event photography, you'd want two bodies at least. As a spare or as a body fixed with a different focal length.

Just curious... What white balance are you using? Maybe I need to recalibrate my screen but it seems that there's a tinge of purplish hue on most of the pics you posted.

ya i watched the same clip i think. it was very detailed. i like that guys's vid. (if we're talking about the same vid la )
good review from a 1-year user. guess i'll go with the sb-900 then

yes ma man kytz. it was shot in RAW and converted to jpeg.

Where's the EXIF? Didn't see any. Also, what's the lighting condition?

Shooting in broad daylight and pushing the ISO to ISO 12800 just for the sake of shooting in high ISO would not yield undesirable noise when the exposure is correct. Hope the photo posted is not what I have mentioned. You can still create undesirable noise in the picture by using ISO 100 or even ISO 50 by not getting the exposure correct.

Best is to shoot at night and blow up the picture 100% in the shadows.

I don't think you want to go in that direction...  Besides the casing itself, you need strobes and different lens ports for each different lens you want to use.

Try shooting landscape using ND filter. Very nice there.

Alternative, water proof film toy camera, around RM25 can get already

everywhere I know of have ran out of stock for d7000 body. . . .
got money but no one wants to earn it. LOL

600d can kill 60d anytime now even last time 550d also can perform almost as good as 50d already... even 1100d also can go up to 6400 iso now... so is 600d... they are just killing their own products... fighting among themselves.. 

60D is definitely a downgrade from 50D to me. From rugged body to some cheap plastic. It's more of a marketing gimmick than anything.
For now the only APS-C dslr of canon worthy of the money is the 7D. All the 1100D,550D,600D,60D are just there to lure new people into buying their first dslr. Quality wise, you get more from nikon for similar price.

Mainly, it's the BODY. If want small, lightweight body, might as well get EVIL cameras.
For your sister, can consider the Sony NEX.
