Thats the thing. Him officially putting in a transfer request means him burning the bridges. For him to do this, he must have realized that there was no turning back. I dont understand why he decided to do this in the middle of the season and with 3 days to go till end of the window. With us trying to secure other transfers and now suddenly Chelsea coming in this late in the window seems like ambush to me. Surely he could see that that it will leave us in a disarray. Something must have pushed him over the edge for him to decide that we're no longer the club he once fell in love with. He needs to say soemthing about this.

Its different. Aguero didnt push for the transfer. Torres, on the other hand, has submitted a transfer request which affects our valuation of the player. We can and have denied the transfer request but the question is whether or not we are incline to keep the player ? Can Torres be persuaded to stay and play for us for the remaining games ? He's on high payroll and be stupid of us to bench him. IF the situation is beyond repair then i feel we have little choice but to sell him - at the price that Chelsea are willing to offer.

Torres is a world class player, on his day he can destroy teams single handedly. Sadly he is in Liverpool. Torres looks like a player who is now wondering why he wasted the best years of his career in Liverpool. What has he won at a club level? Nothing. Nuts. He's 27, he can be a legend in any club he goes to....and at the same time, win trophies. A player of his calibre, wasted to remain at Liverpool.

Even our "shite" players Evans and Gibson have won trophies. Can you honestly see Liverpool winning BPL/UCL anytime soon before he retires? Hah, fat chance with the UCL qualifications, let alone winning it. For the players sake I hope he leaves. If he stays, he'll go down as a great player who never won anything at club level.

This is the kind of fan i always respected. An understanding fan.

When you are one of the top 10 strikers in the world.
When any of the big clubs in the world could always use a player like him.
When you won the WC and EC but nothing at club level.
When you are 27 and the average "peak" age is now.
When the club you are in cannot afford to compete in any tournament or leagues to win.

Then you'll know why. At best, Torres has maybe 5 really good years left in him. When you have 5 years left on your legs, and rebuilding takes 2-3 years, it's time to move on.

He can love the club, or love the trophies.
