I am using 2.2. Phone is sluggish even with the launcher pro. Everytime I check the task manager there must be around 10 application running. I make it zero and after few minutes some application is running. I have uncheck background data and unnecessary application. Don't why still have background application running. Let than 8 applications and game install. Pretty sluggish.

That's when custom rom helps. They are zipaligned to help in ram management. I never experienced such sluggishness even on stock rom though. I was using DXJG4 stock with 1gb full of apps, no such lags. Try to wipe all data and restore from titanium backup. Then go to market and download Autokiller Memory Optimizer.

I have no idea. I'm just using it as how the phone allows me, not much configuration. Probably currently, I'm turning off auto sync and brightness is set to the lowest (at yet it glimmers like noone business, auto sync turned off because my data plan isn't activated yet =.=' ) But that's about it, for everything else, I'm using normally, angry birds, ebook , swiping left and right for no reason, an hr+ of calls, sms almost the whole day.

When would be our SGS have the offical 2.3? After upgrade to 2.2 is really sluggish. Hope Samsung solve this issue to its flagship phone..

you may try flash to 2.2.1.. XXJPU to XXJPY.. i use XXJPU before using this Darky's Rom 8.0..
what can i say.. the performance more better.. without speedmod.. and also without lagfix..
if apply speed or lagfix? more more better la.. happy.gif

guys, need ur help. i would like to use darky's rom.

1- I'm done flashing to the new firmware I9000XXJPY.

2- will i need to root the phone? and if i do will this suffice?

QUOTE(hihihehe @ Jan 10 2011, 05:46 PM)
How to root:

Second method:
If you have Odin3 and you know how to use it!
Your data and programs will be deleted!!!!

3- i understand that i would need to install ClockworkMod, then use Rom manager which i download from the Market to reboot into it.

4-then install darky's room.

if im missing something, please let me know

Easiest way

1) Install ANY eclair rom
2) Download CWM, rename it as update.zip and put it into internal SD
3) Download darkky's rom, put it in internal SD (No need rename)
3) Reboot into recovery (Press up + home + power)
4) Choose apply update.zip
5) Phone will reboot and auto go to recovery again, just choose apply update.zip once more
6) Now the menu will change to CWM, choose install from zip.
7) Choose the darkky's rom
8) Enjoy

i think all seams easy. only step one is confusing. what do u mean install any eclair rom?

my current rom is JPJPJ, and CSC and MODEM are also something different (middle east firmware)

Use the latest JPY firmware... once u flashed to JPY then flash it with CF_root... then only can apply the update.zip.

else it will have error with the signature.

eclair rom means 2.1 rom, any one also can

The reason to use 2.1 because you need 2e recovery to install CWM, stock froyo comes with 3e recovery
