It's really up to you if you wanna stay with Darky 7x, but since the fella released non-wipe versions of his recent roms, I've been religiously updating to his latest. I mean it takes about 10-15 minutes to download the rom, 2 minutes to transfer it to the phone and probably at most 5-10 minutes to install it and get the phone booted up into the new rom. No data is lost, settings seem to be intact too, not really much to worry about, IMHO.

8.0 has been really cool. With speedmod K12* kernel added in, it's even better

P/S Just did a non-wipe upgrade for my colleague's SGS this morning, from her old 'stock JPO + speedmod k10*' to 'darky 8.0 + speedmod k12k' - didn't even break a sweat and a happy 'customer' makes for a happy me.

I'm not pissed. I cringe. The wording gingerbread edition can confuse new users into thinking it a gingerbread version. In the first post, he puts up a screenshot with 2.3.1 firmware version. That, IMO is wrong. You can have fun cooking the rom, adding themes, mod, addons but not by editing build.prop into 2.3.1

FYI, he once offended docrambone but he took back his statement and apologized. I didn't think darkyy meant to hurt him. Maybe doc was a bit sensitive

True, more kernels & rom = more fun. I find that docs's and darkyy's thread has too much chatter and is hard to keep up with all the post. I use insanity because it works well, light and is very fast without lagfix even when I underclock to 800mhz.

There's plenty of other roms to try, each that will suit different individual best. More choices the better. That's why we like android and not iOS

p/s I just recently discovered that lowyat has v12 thread of sgs, today actually! that's very commendable Looks like there are plenty of sgs users in msia.

But since i m doing iron maiden in SG, i cant attend their gig in KL (my flight to singapore is 14th afternoon. i plan to travel 1 day earlier so that no rushing watsoever on the 15th)

therefore, i ll watch them on the 16th in singapore.

deftones is 1 of the bands that i like when i 1st started listening to alternative during the late 90s, while iron maiden..... needless to say, but they r my religion.

errr ... root has ntg to do with 2e or 3e .. wat u need is CWM, once u get that u can flash any zip files .... simple as that, no need find root la flash back eclair la etc ...

he is the first one to implement a gingerbread theme, therefore he somewhat able to put in the Gingerbread Edition. Its up to him to put the title, just like how u put ur nickname/alias or watever name u prefer, i cant go saying y u put gmhafiz, doesnt even sound like a name but rather a fake right? get the point?

That the y new users have to read up and do some research... i am totally getting annoyed at those new users 1st day get their phone then start flashing, then come here find solutions while FAQ sections have already stated them.. anything new has to start from scratch, no one can start running without learning how to walk and that applies in every expect of life and things around it ...
through all your post, u r just bias towards him + some rants of his title.. lol
back at wat u said, everyone have their own taste in rom ..and btw, there was once in darky's webchat, r64 helped to reorganize and modify darky's theme to perfect it, so darky didnt use r64's theme but rather have r64's modification in it ...

doc's thread has become more of a chat room with beta testers teasing users with the next improvements, plus noobs too. darkyy's thread also has too many noobs who refuse to read the frontpage and use a search button. Looks like I'm sticking with insanity for a while. There were less chatter anyway.

I got bored with greenish theme. I am now using generation x theme. IMO it is very clean and beautiful.

On that I agree. it was quite confusing when I saw gingerbread edition. I was thinking, that was quick ! then realize it wasnt! anyways WP7 is better than ios too (soon) !

and yes I too just realize this thread is now v12.. not long ago I was asking some random questions on v11.. how the thread flies!

I must say, that's one of the most organize thread in XDA i've seen, normally its always messy and information everywhere.

And the theme looks good too

and u din realise the date is 12 today and we're moving to page 12 soon. LOL..
