I realize when my system is idle, the CPU will down clock itself which is normal, but the Vcore is still quite high.

For example:

My full load 4.5GHz vcore = 1.312

Idle 1.5GHz vcore = 1.27

Normal?

TQ

Why not you do it one at a time? smile.gif Don't start tweaking the RAM timings or anything else until you get a baseline voltage for your desired clock speed. If you start tweaking everything at one go, it makes things more challenging biggrin.gif

working on that , thanks for advise , boss

LOL, you really have the patience. Normally I don't run so many loops and as long as it's decent and stable, works for my normal gaming and Internet, I'm happy biggrin.gif Let me try and share with you the results.

ya, lesson learned from last time, only run 100 loop then declare stable, but when gaming, some times will BSOD.

finally completed the task.
right now running 4.5ghz 1.355vcore 1.66vdim because of running at 1T.

searching lower vdimm now. smile.gif

1.655vdimm . linx error at 6.xx hours # 389loop

i think the statment that " passed 100loop = stable " really can't use as reference.

I'm using Asrock Extreme 4 and apparently the memory is giving errors if I put them in blue slots. After changing to white slots, it works better smile.gif Not sure what happened but this is the problem with cheap boards I guess? biggrin.gif In the case of Sandy Bridge, it's a little different. Although you pass the LinX and Prime test, you still get problems sometimes (BSOD). I'm not sure why though.

blue slot is first and third slot?

asus also suggest user put their memory in A2 and B2 slot which is 2th and 4th slot in the manual.

Yup, A2 and B2 slot. I had it in A1 and A2 but when I load my games, it's giving me memory errors. Weird indeed and I thought the manual says it should be A1 and B1 if I have 2 sticks.

typo ehh? I assume that u're refering to i3 2100 @ 3.1GHz stock = no turbo boost and fixed multi
But yes u can OC an i3-2100 but its max OC is pretty poor since u have to raise the BCLK, which is linked to the speed of pretty much everything else(so it's pretty touchy, can't be raised much). Looks like 5% OC maybe.

G.Skill F3-17000CL8D-4GBXMD confirm Elpida BBSE (on black PCB). rclxms.gif
Similar IC on green PCB (E904A8BR9401, which are either OEM Elpida, or Elpida's design in PSC's process).
