hi guys, is cm hyper 212+ to noctua cooler a big jump? currently 4.8GHz running stress test temp is around 95c. Might wanna reach 5.0GHz or higher with a high end air cooler.

Added on May 5, 2011, 5:04 pmi got a extra question to ask, is it all socket 1156 cooler compatible with 1155?

Noctua D14 is slightly better than Hyper212 by 2-3C.
But bigger margin when Noctua is fitted with 3 fans push pull.
Not possible to run 5GHz under air cooling in our hot environment, unless if u got a rare chip needing below 1.4v for that speed. Go for custom wc biggrin.gif

I believe u can get one premium set for as low as RM800 locally.
But this package looks quite hard for 5GHz as well, in fact it lost to top air coolers.
Actually the best cooler is this:

win 7 sp1 got some bug which causes random bsod, doesnt relate to OC, anyone know the patch already.

I now try to reinstall my sata controller driver for intel, hopefully it stable it. the 0x000000F4 error which i was randomly getting even with stock. laugh.gif

Personal preference. Given you 5GHz, are you fully utilise the speed and also with more heat output except the numbers is look nicer in benchmarks. Just find the sweet spot correspond to your comfortable heat output.

Only max the hws when there is a need. smile.gif

The Professional board would be a choice for 24/7 set up. Top end boards are mean to max the hws in benchmarking and not much different from mid range boards in 24/7 setup.

which silverstone model u use?..back in my AMD time,my last crosshair 3 formula also enuff for 4 pins but for more power+stable OC,recommended to use 8pins..
but some case, using 4 pins make the ur PC reboot by itself or won't boot at all..just give it a try 1st.. nod.gif
