Disturbia (2007)

I don't have any expectation on this movie when i saw Shia LaBeouf here..
But, I read a lot of a good review for this movie and decide to give a chance to watch what critique like so much about this movie..

It turn out to be damn nice..I love thriller movie and this movie will be one of my favorite movie..all the aspect that we need for thriller movie is here..
All the suspense, action, unexpected scene, spontaneous are there.. i really like the story line and the pace of this movie..fast but detailed and also quiet funny for certain scene..

Because of this movie i'm being a big fan for DJ Caruso..

Please bare in mind that Disturbia is based on Alfred Hitchcock's Rear Window

The Fox and the Hound (1981)

I remember watching this when I was a wee lad...

But for the life of me, i cannot remember the ending (did not finish the movie??)

Additional, I don't remember like the movie much

Disney Animation went into a slump after the passing of Walt Disney

If memory serves, One Hundred and One Dalmatians (1961) and The Jungle Book (1967) were one of the last few movies he had a personal involvement...

After his passing, the animation created by the company went into slow decline...

They are NOT bad (Rescuers comes to mind), but they just aren't fantastic (worst example would be Sword in the Stone and The Black Cauldron).

Now watching this movie after so many years, I have to say, I appreciate it a lot more!

Very simple story and quite well told

Some people might say that it is overly sentimental and I'm cold blooded, so I appreciate the warmth!! tongue.gif

Have a safe weekend everyone.

Conan the Destroyer (1984)

Ah the good old 80s a mini fantasy movie golden age.

Conan the Barbarian, The Sword and Sorcery, Lady Hawk, Legends, Princess bride and many more.

One of the fantasy movie in the list, is Conan the Destroyer (1984)

After Conan the Barbarian, I was actually disappointed by this!!

Having a chance to watch this now, it isn't as bad as I remember...

Sets were impressive.

Characters were amusing.

After the more gripping Conan the Barbarian, I originally felt that Conan the Destroyer (1984) a little kiddie... and it was the intention of the producer for it to be so...

I can see why I dislike the movie initially, Princess Jehnna is a VERY irritating character, and I stand by my word.

I suppose, having "aged" I can now see pass the irritatingness!!

A nice like movie for a lazy Sunday afternoon, heck maybe even a lazy Saturday afternoon for that matter!! tongue.gif

Limitless

Entertaining and visually slick. And I do mean slick, as in Fincher-esque slick. In fact, if you think about it, the entire movie is pretty similar to Fight Club, although providing none of the latter's depth or provocation.

American Psycho (2000)

This movie was great. I thought that this movie was like a choose your own fate movie. I thought that the ending was ingenious. You can interpret it any way you want. You see a side of Christen Bale that you normally don't see. You can see him kill all these people in violent and grisly ways and after all of that he feels bad. I just thought that was a nice little touch to his performance. He acted this role out so well and no one else could of pulled it off. Movie Ending: watch it and decide what your ending is. (If you like Shutter Island or Inception dont miss this movie)

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallow 7.2 (2011)

It is FINALLY here...

The last Harry Potter movie

Many a person had lament about how dry and dialoguey Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallow 7.1 and is hoping that the second part would be more action oriented.

Good news, IT IS!!!

Almost ALL the good bits in the second half of the book is in this one.

I cannot believe people and critics have enjoyed HP7-2. The punctuated moments of needless and pointless random kissing disrupted the tone of the film momentarily and after a few such scenes, the rails went off and took me out of the movie.

The Battle at Hogwarts is neither exciting nor grandiose and serves rather as a background to the film's protagonist which I felt was a wise move if they had handled the flow of the film better. The film is only two hours 10 minutes and it passes by quickly but nothing in the first half of the film seems to grab at you (if you know what I mean).

If there is anything the film did well - I'll just say it in one word "SNAPE." That was hammer-nail-head transition from paper to film. Apart from that, the so-called showdown was more of a let-down and the epilogue brought MANY unintentional chuckles from the audience.

5/10

Did not post in the HP thread for fear of receiving a backlash but I'll allow the fans to enjoy their ending - I'm sure they'd enjoy it more than me =)

Captain America (2011)

And the first prize goes to...

What a year. 4 comic superheroes movies in 1 year.

There was X-Men First Class (Marvel)

Then Thor (Marvel)

After that one Green Lantern (DC)

And now Captain America (Marvel)

It is good. It is VERY good.

It is my believe, this would be closest Marvel would get, in successfully fleshing out one of their character compared to Batman Begins and The Dark Knight. (Spiderman doesn't count. That character is licensed out to Sony)

Chris Evan sold the idea of Captain America

You'll never even think "Hey, Johnny Storm!" while watching this movie.

World War II was depicted believable.

I love the designs for Schmidt's war machines

I REALLY love Hayley Atwell, she sold femininity, period!!!

Dr. Abraham Erskine (Stanley Tucci) is BRILLIANT!!! Seriously.

Hugo Weaving can just about BE anything he wants to be (Elf, Super Hero, NASTY COMPUTER PROGRAM!!!).

Everything in this movie clicked

Even the bit players

Yes, please stay to the end (After End Credits). You WON'T be sorry

Go watch it.

Go WATCH it.

Did I mention, that you should WATCH THIS!!!!

For the record

Captain America: The First Avenger No. 1
X-Men: First Class No. 2
Thor No. 3
Green Lantern No. 4

Poor job DC, REALLY POOR JOB!!!!

Your Highness (2011)

Who in the world would cast Danny McBride as Thadeous a spoilt prince who does nothing but cause trouble for his father (The King) and brother (The King to be)

Oh, Danny McBride is the writer of this movie

This is fantasy with humor

Okay, If you expect The Princess Bride, no, NOT by a LONG shot

The narration at the beginning says it all.

This is like a crossed between a Mel Brooks and a Monty Python movie with lots and LOTS of toilet/reference to male/female "private parts" jokes.

The storyline is actually decent and the CGI is top notch

If they had cast someone like Adam Sandler as Thadeous, it would have done better

James Franco and Natalie Portman did they best to ham this up

Just didn't buy Danny McBride as Thadeous.

This is actually R rated and I don't think they ever showed this in Malaysia cinema.

Can watch this if you have nothing better to do

Danny McBride is stellar as Thadeous and i reckon he n natalie portman's sweet sweet ass are the best thing in this flick. the hand in mustard manifest into monster scene is pretty creative. zooey deschanel earned the "talk about a shitty role" title, nice cleavage though. i say this flick is vulgar BUT NOT vulgar enough. disappointing la

Harry Potter and The Philosopher's Stone

First time watching in many years, having seen it probably at least 4 times when I was 13 or 14. Still like it very much. Chris Columbus got the look of the magical world right alright. And it's a delight seeing the main actors back when they were still kids. Their acting isn't the best, but there's authenticity to it. Compare them to Super 8, and you won't get far as far as 'conventional' acting is concerned (the Super 8 kids were pretty phenomenal), but here you really feel they are real kids, some seeing magic for the first time. The story is kiddie fare, but the themes of friendship and bravery, present throughout the series, probably comes through the most here. It has to be said though, despite laying the groundwork of the world of Hogwarts and its visuals down well, Columbus' direction is a little bland and probably too reverential to the books.

Harry Potter and The Chamber of Secrets

Enjoyed this one as well, but it is too similar in looks, tone, and mood to the first. A good thing Columbus didn't return.

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban

Within the first 10 minutes it will be impossible not to notice this is directed by someone with a far keener eye for visuals and mood. The entire movies looks fabulous and has loads of style to boot. None of the static, sterile and safe direction the first two had, Cuaron employs visuals tricks and fancy camerawork whenever he has a chance, and pulls all of them off spectacularly. It is positively mesmerizing. The story and tone is darker this time, and probably has the best balance between more adult themes and the inherently kiddy magical elements than all the other movies (I do need to revisit the other movies though, and will), and moves at a better pace than the first two. David Thewlis and Gary Oldman are brilliant as Professor Lupin and Sirius Black, and Gambon is more than capable of filling Richard Harris. In fact, Gambon is better than Harris ever was. And John Williams gives us a real wallop of a score. It doesn't develop the themes from the earlier movies, but for sheer individual moments of magic for each scene, the PoA score can't be beat. About the only thing I don't like is the freezeshot at the end. Never liked that. Always thought there should be an extra minute or two at the end.

Cowboys and Aliens (2011)

Steven Spielberg and Jon Favreau together, and the result is average only.... sad.gif

Well shot and storyline is decent and the problems lays in the... casting...

An Englishman (Daniel Craig) as a cowboy?? Really?????!

Harrison Ford could have sleep walk through his role here!!!!?

Sam Rockwell accepted THAT role??? (Must have needed the money)

Last at NOT least, Olivia Wilde and Daniel Craig has -100 chemistry... I kid you not.

Olivia Wilde has always been interesting look to me (House M.D.) and have to add, the costume in this movie, flatters her not!!!!

She looks DOWN RIGHT UGLY here!!!

If you have NOT watched Captain America or Rise of the Planet of the Ape, and you want to watch something. Go watch those instead....
