I am a new student for 2012/2013 batch. Firstly, i have no intention to humiliate or whatsoever UniMap in this post. I just think that the juniors deserves the truth.
For the first week, we have this minggu suai kenal(MSK). 1. I can assure you the management sucks like hell. I mean if comparing to blowjob, the one doing the service must be having razor-sharp teeth. Seriously, it was a pain in the d***,or ass, or whatever. -the way the ppms(pembantu pelajar minggu suaikenal) conveying their message is terrible and i was surprise by the first night that there was this microphone but they opt for megaphone instead.and they point it downwards, stupid! i can assure you that all of the students at the back have no idea what they were talking about, seriously, 0 percent! -the information was extremely blur, "anything, you all stand by esok je,ok?" was the reply i get often. -THE WAY THEY MOVE THE STUDENTS WAS DAMN-SHIT MESSED UP. *supposedly all of the new students were accommodated in Wang Ulu (KKG and KKH),then on the fourth or fifth day the business students and ex-diploma students who're going to take second year will move. Then, the seniors from various courses came back and "cucuk masuk" wherever has the empty slot. i do not know how the previous year was but this year is like this.(this is when all hell start to break loose!) some of the seniors was not able to get any rooms and that they have to move to other places with all the begs and stuffs. there was this case where the house got sixth juniors, then 1 senior cucuk masuk, al the juniors just seems to isolate him.(a really childish situation) bt d most importantly is how are we going to do study group easily if all are separated into different blocks, floors and rooms? THEN, ON THE NIGHT OF MY FIRST DAY CLASS, WHICH IS YESTERDAY, THEY USE THE SOUND SYSTEM TO INFORM THAT ALL STUDENTS FROM KKG(JUNIORS OR SENIORS) NEED TO GATHER BEHIND BLOCK 4 FOR REARRANGEMENT OF THE STUDENTS, I CAN ASSURE YOU,EVEN THE SCENE OF A GROUP OF NAUGHTY KINDERGARDEN CHILDREN IS FAR BETTER. it was the WORST meeting i have ever participated in my entire life. PERIOD. 2. the food on the fifth or sixth(not sure) night, MOST of them were suspected to be rotten as the smell was horrible. on the first day, there was no spoon for approximately half of the students which is to me, a really biased situation. i'm a chinese,i know how to use my fingers to eat my dinner but i just dont want to..i guess u have to b non-malay to understand what im saying. 3. most of the lecturers are so young, much much younger than other university.so, im worried. they say the older ones went to pursue their studies first, but stil, i'm very worried. 4. The library was really cool! really beautiful!!! BUT is not really that easily accessible to other students who're taking other courses, under other ppk which is away from pauh. we need to take a special effort to go there, take another and so on(menyusahkan). 5. if you want to see handsome guys and lengluis, here is not really the place..there are a few students with the blessing, but seriously, u can count them easily..(sikit saja) p/s:using the lame excuse by saying this batch students has an outstanding number of students than previous years is irrelevant as we just added 300-400++ students only compared to last year, not by THOUSANDS.a university should be able to cope this really well, but this one really disappointed me. BUT, i still kept a positive mind to persevere in this university. i'm trying to find the goodness in this university. i found some, but not really good enough that could make me say :"i'll never regret 4 coming to unimap!" |

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Hi there icekeith92, First of all, I personally appreciate your openness towards all the incidents that happened during the orientation week. Yup, they do sound horrible, and it was indeed a sad sight to behold, I am sure. I was thankful that when I joined, everything was much organised, probably because the intake was not as big as this year's. However, I don't think complaining in this forum itself will do any help. I believe many here are students in UniMAP. They can't really assist much. I, myself is a former student there, I can't provide any help either. Allow me to tell you what you should do. Approach the management of the orientation week, the top ones of course, let them know your concerns and what you wished had happened otherwise. Don't start ranting on what bad things have happened. Things have passed, so let bygones be bygones. Tell them that they should improve the current system so that it will benefit the next intake. Better still if you can relate your bad experience and let them know how they should approach this issue. Again, I would like to apologise that this forum really can't help much. I hope you can do away with a week's nightmare and start anew. The journey of hardships actually begin after the orientation week. Good luck. |

haha some of it is true... orientation week can be big big confusion.
previously some seniors still stayed at wang ulu, their stuff still there, so it's normal for them to go there and pickup their stuffs. afterall... not all come back on time.. you'll know later.. as for one house all juniors suddenly one senior.. it's a situation u'll encounter in your life frequently if u work outside of your hometown. try be positive. =)... last time it was planned that way that all students will get same course roommate. but their housemates got chance not the same. and same course will not be collected into one block/row. My first year in semarak la. you get to mix around not just with own courses. for study group, you can just go to the bilik rehat place. but, alas, stay positive. not to say unimap bad. but it's everywhere.. it's bullshit if i say other unis doesn't have problems. =). most important, persevere through this four years, and grad. that is your goal entering uni, dun forget that. edit: please study continuously, first year do not play play too much le. later on you will regret if you get low gpa in year one. If u guys have some prob, do contact me. i'll try to assist.... Do vote for me this campus election huh.... You guys really speak my mind. Try not be too "manja" like what our future MPP, Mr ghodul have said. Degree life is no more like STPM or diploma kinda type already. It is now all about survival of the fittest. Also, like what IvanWong1989 have mentioned, think positive. You juniors should feel blessed, in the sense that you are given a hostel throughout your course duration. Unis like USM and UM, you will be literally kicked out of the hostel once you enter your second year. Problems will start popping up like where to stay, who to stay with, can I cover the monthly rental without starving and stuffs. Well, juniors might be too new to start thinking like seniors of ghodul's and IvanWong1989's caliber, but I believe time will tell. It's time for seniors like you guys to guide them... Whoa!
Personally, I just could not agree more with icekeith92 and Askzra regarding the fcuked up situations during orientation, especially those PPMS flers who kept pointing their megaphones down towards the ground, as if they are communicating with someone in hell. It happened during my time, too and things did not change...even after so many years. How sad. And also the meetings... I have nothing to say lah. If they could not handle such huge groups of people, why can't they break it up to smaller groups instead? No brains? Nonetheless, here is my little advice to first years out there. You have just spent a week in UniMAP and classes have not even started yet. Yes, there might be stuffs which you might find distasteful...but over here in Malaysia, you know, it just happens. |

I'll be competing in the General Constitution (Konstitusi Umum). So far we have 12 candidates for that. They'll choose 9 that have the highest vote to becoming MPP. And the highest one will become the leader, Yang Di-Pertua(YDP)...
Its looks like UniMAP's student awareness about this particular things has rise.... |
