QUOTE(icekeith92 @ Sep 11 2012, 02:24 AM)
I am a new student for 2012/2013 batch. Firstly, i have no intention to humiliate or whatsoever UniMap in this post. I just think that the juniors deserves the truth.

For the first week, we have this minggu suai kenal(MSK).

1. I can assure you the management sucks like hell. I mean if comparing to blowjob, the one doing the service must be having razor-sharp teeth. Seriously, it was a pain in the d***,or ass, or whatever.

-the way the ppms(pembantu pelajar minggu suaikenal) conveying their message is terrible and i was surprise by the first night that there was this microphone but they opt for megaphone instead.and they point it downwards, stupid! i can assure you that all of the students at the back have no idea what they were talking about, seriously, 0 percent!
-the information was extremely blur, "anything, you all stand by esok je,ok?" was the reply i get often.

-THE WAY THEY MOVE THE STUDENTS WAS DAMN-SHIT MESSED UP.
*supposedly all of the new students were accommodated in Wang Ulu (KKG and KKH),then on the fourth or fifth day the business students and ex-diploma students who're going to take second year will move. Then, the seniors from various courses came back and "cucuk masuk" wherever has the empty slot. i do not know how the previous year was but this year is like this.(this is when all hell start to break loose!) some of the seniors was not able to get any rooms and that they have to move to other places with all the begs and stuffs. there was this case where the house got sixth juniors, then 1 senior cucuk masuk, al the juniors just seems to isolate him.(a really childish situation) bt d most importantly is how are we going to do study group easily if all are separated into different blocks, floors and rooms?

THEN, ON THE NIGHT OF MY FIRST DAY CLASS, WHICH IS YESTERDAY, THEY USE THE SOUND SYSTEM TO INFORM THAT ALL STUDENTS FROM KKG(JUNIORS OR SENIORS) NEED TO GATHER BEHIND BLOCK 4 FOR REARRANGEMENT OF THE STUDENTS, I CAN ASSURE YOU,EVEN THE SCENE OF A GROUP OF NAUGHTY KINDERGARDEN CHILDREN IS FAR BETTER.
it was the WORST meeting i have ever participated in my entire life. PERIOD.

2. the food on the fifth or sixth(not sure) night, MOST of them were suspected to be rotten as the smell was horrible. on the first day, there was no spoon for approximately half of the students which is to me, a really biased situation. i'm a chinese,i know how to use my fingers to eat my dinner but i just dont want to..i guess u have to b non-malay to understand what im saying.

3. most of the lecturers are so young, much much younger than other university.so, im worried. they say the older ones went to pursue their studies first, but stil, i'm very worried.

4. The library was really cool! really beautiful!!! BUT is not really that easily accessible to other students who're taking other courses, under other ppk which is away from pauh. we need to take a special effort to go there, take another and so on(menyusahkan).

5. if you want to see handsome guys and lengluis, here is not really the place..there are a few students with the blessing, but seriously, u can count them easily..(sikit saja)

p/s:using the lame excuse by saying this batch students has an outstanding number of students than previous years is irrelevant as we just added 300-400++ students only compared to last year, not by THOUSANDS.a university should be able to cope this really well, but this one really disappointed me.
BUT, i still kept a positive mind to persevere in this university. i'm trying to find the goodness in this university. i found some, but not really good enough that could make me say :"i'll never regret 4 coming to unimap!"
*
agree with you. I'm also new student of UniMAP. I dont quite like the meeting yesterday..it is just a nuisance to packing things all over again and move..

hahaha biggrin.gif u which course and what year? Im manufacturing in 3rd year this new session. But I like going to mecha school for eating because its more filling, cheaper, and faster. smile.gif

For the orientation week, does the whole week we have to wear formal clothing ? What kind of activities are in the orientation ? More ice breaking i presume ?
*
bro, no need for u to wear formal. u will be given 2 types of t-shirt : 1 yellow-blue collar tee and 1 blue-yellow round neck tee. on orientation week u will be using one of this tshirt. u also will be given 1 batik shirt (i dont know if still given this year). u also will be given a dark blue jacket to wear everyday in campus. U may stitch your name (or nickname) on it, but never lose the jacket. some staffs were strict on this.

and about lecture weeks, the rule said u have to wear formal on monday and wednesday. but for so long, everyday casual biggrin.gif. sometime we can identify freshies because they wear formal on first day of lecture.

orientation activities may include talks, PTPTN FAQs, co-curricular bodies promotion, tour at main campus, and tour in library. less ice breaking, because students are around 2000-3000 each intake lol. u have to do your own ice breaking, make new friends. no worry, no ragging or bullying here. tongue.gif

Hello guys. I got Civil Engineering in UNIMAP.

I am getting excited now and my only main concern is the dorm well in condition? And also how long is the distance between my hostel to my lecture campus?

And I have still no idea how UNIMAP campus works. It seems like all the campuses are seperated from each other far away from what I have read in previous post. Pls correct me if I am wrong smile.gif Mind to enlighten me? Thanks!
*
If u got civil, then high chance your dorm is in Sungai Chucuh, near to Padang Besar.
I dont really know the distance because I dont live there and Im not a civil student. But one thing for sure, u have to be fully ready for bus one hour before class.

yes, all campus are separated for now. The main campus in Pauh still upgrading currently.

Wang Ulu ok mahh. I 3 years stayed at Wang Ulu and then moved to Taman Semarak during my final year. The 3 years at Wang Ulu was a very memorable one. Housemates were good (they were all my former classmates), everyday happy happy and most importantly none of them smokes. But it was like shiat when I moved to Taman Semarak. My blardy housemates were all smokers. mad.gif  mad.gif  mad.gif But what I got was the master room with attached bathroom. icon_idea.gif

i love semarak more biggrin.gif

it is the place where u does not feel as a student too much

guard is sporting, even we got home 2-3 am also ok

and uncle Che An (if u know) is the best staff Semarak ever had. smile.gif

Hi, I got offered with industrial electronic engineering yesterday. Can anyone here tell me more about this course? Is there many chinese in this course? As Im from Malay / English school, friends with other races seem no problem to me as well. But, I just want to know is there many chinese in this course, hah. Contradicting myself? I can't find anyone who got the same course with me. :/
Anyway, nice to meet everyone of you here, my seniors. biggrin.gif
*
hi, welcome to UniMAP! rclxms.gif rclxms.gif

first of all, join this fb group created for u guys : https://www.facebook.com/groups/bakalmahasiswa1415/

I could not tell much about it, because i'm not taking that course. One thing for sure, u will be going to learn about industrial engineering as well, aside from electronic-related subjects of course. u will be covering general subjects such as engineering math, statistics and maybe other non-engineering subjects as well.

furthermore, note that u will also must take 7 IINM university-compulsory subjects. U need to take this in order to graduate.

Those subjects are:
1) Tamadun Islam dan Tamadun Asia (TITAS)
2) Ethnic Relation
3) University Malay Language
4) University English Language
5) Foreign Language (No need to take if u got MUET under band 3, because u have to take Foundation English instead)
6) Tech and Comm Skills
7) Engineering Entrepreneurship

As for co-curricular activities, u MUST take minimum 3 semesters ( 2 uniformed body, 1 sports ). For bodies like PALAPES,SUKSIS and RELA, u have to undergo 6 semesters, no need to take sports after that. For SISPA, 5 sem.

For race, I could say Malay is more than Indian/Chinese ( u know why right ). But dont worry, there are handful of Chinese and Indians who came from Form 6.

Anyway, congrats for making yourself a place in the engineering university. biggrin.gif
I'm 3rd year student from Manufacturing. Do say hello if u meet me!

really damn cheap. I wish all food sellers in campus like him. biggrin.gif

if u know how to go to pauh main campus, u will see my dorm just opposite the main gerbang gate. smile.gif its newly built, so myb it does not exist yet in your study time. biggrin.gif im 3rd year and we are the first batch to stay there. haha

7 subjects ?  rclxub.gif  how do you cope / adjust with it o ? 7 subjects and curricular activities sounds challenging

i will greet you if i could find you  nod.gif
*
every semester u will have to take one or two or those subjects. the faster u finished those subjects, the better your focus towards engineering subjects.

for me, during my first year, i took both university malay and TITAS because both subjects are quite boring.

Only one students hostel completed and ready for action ahh? shakehead.gif Apa lahh UniMAP nie... sweat.gif  So nowadays you all no longer have your exams in Dewan 2020 lahh? That one is a magnificent dewan lahh, to be honest. Brings you to the Arctic every time you step inside. brows.gif

Since the main library is up and running, do you still have the library in the second floor in Bangunan KWSP? I remember that place very vividly as a dating haven for couples. thumbup.gif
*
forgot to tell u, unimap also have new dorm inside campus, the 1st phase dorm. equipped with quite large cafeteria.

i dont know yet. maybe this new session they will use the hall. But personally i love Dewan 2020 more. Love the tension in the bus, tension in the hallway before exam hall, and proud feeling when u finished early and left the hall. biggrin.gif

yeah, the library still up and running. The staff there does not bother much of what the students doing. biggrin.gif

QUOTE(bb100 @ Aug 13 2014, 03:15 PM)
Go home at 2-3am will get stopped by the guard wan mehh? I tak pernah kena pon... hmm.gif

Che An is who? A guard too? Or the pak cik who jaga the canteen in front of Taman Semarak?
*
no, guard never stopped us. the guard at wang ulu WILL stop u (due to a report from student council). Che An is one of the staff in Semarak. He is regarded as 'father' for students in Semarak because he act like one. He even knows some dark stories about students and he kept it as secret.

Earlier last semester, Semarak got cases where girls house got broken into, and some girls were groped when sleeping. Then Che An installed lamp at all of the girls houses, and ask some male students become voluntary 'night watchers'.

QUOTE(exquisite_markas @ Aug 13 2014, 03:33 PM)
7 subjects no problem one la. You can take one per semester. If you are more adventurous, take two per semester lo.

It's good to finish up all the 7 subjects ASAP. Coz as your course progresses, it gets tougher. The earlier you clear all, the more free time you have to tackle harder core subjects.

Talking about 7, does UniMAP still has this 7 Pillars thingy? They will paksa us to go one.  cry.gif
*
still going on that 7 pillars. but there were some cases where Student Affair Dept does not have Pillars Attendance data/proof of some students, even the student already did the pillars.

maybe one of the causes, the staff of Students affairs that handle students, are quite young, sometimes playful. I've seen them during one of my camp.

deal with some serious staff (well, not all are playful) smile.gif

and then after doing pillars, take pictures that can prove your attendance. With that, you would not have problems later.
