Hey icekeith92,
First and foremost, welcome to UniMAP!
Well, from the first look at your course, I believe it is new. I guess you will be the first batch of students taking this course.
There are advantages as well as disadvantages. Let's talk about the good stuffs first. Being the first few batches of a new course, it will be relatively easy to score, as the School does not have any standards to compare with. Also, most of the lecturers will be all fired-up to teach and they should be more enthusiastic. And obviously, all equipment will be new, provided you are not sharing any with other Schools or courses.
There will be also the not-so-good stuffs being a part of a new course. As there is no standard for comparison, you guys might be made the "white mice" for trial and error. If the trial and error succeeds, it's all well and good. If it fails, they will use that experience to improve the next batch. Also, as the lecturers are new to this course, they don't have any experience teaching this new course. They will be venturing into unknowns.
Well, it sounds more gloomy than you first thought was, right? Not to worry. Before a new course is established and before it qualifies to intake new students, it will have to go through very vigorous and stringent vetting process. Until the course (and also the equipment, teaching expertise, etc.) is fit to take new students, it will not be offered as a university course.
Hope this little info helps.

If you need any clarifications on anything, just drop a reply in this thread. Many seniors around will be glee to help.
