In pauh, celcom is a beast. The hostel walls in pauh disrupt the mobile signal and so far celcom works inside the hostel (depends on line condition also la)

Umobile is fairly fast and digi works too ( some people complain cannot use in manufacturing faculty). No idea about maxis and yes. Interesting to note that the best umobile reception in Malaysia is in perlis (opensignal)

Well I'm not so sure about other hostels but I've heard simpang empat hostel is a mobile deadzone.

Welcome to the new intake!

Yes pf1 is like dorm type while pf2 is like an apartment with 4 rooms(2 people per room) and 3 toilets and a small living room. There is futsal and volleyball court in between each building. Cafeteria is pretty big and few minutes away from pf2. There are classrooms and offices right above the cafeteria too! So far the experience here is good.

you need to know:

1) your place of stay will be provided by uni until you grad
2) UniMAP is dubbed as "U need MAP" since it is everywhere in Perlis. Not all courses will be done at main campus, however your course IIRC is at main campus. I think the teaching there quite typical uni style; you go in lecture hall, lecturer open slides then teach. every month or quarterly there will be quizzes or short exam.
3) Life as a student there was so memorable. Throughout the years you will spend your time alongside villagers, paddy fields, assortments of foods locally or from thailand. During my time as first year student, we got a program where we were adopted by villagers for 4 days. so during that time you will spend time at village with your adopted parent and "siblings". Go fishing, go paddy field etc. Very memorable. some of my friends keep the adoption relationship even after the program.
4) Talking bout life, nearly everyone in UniMAP are engineers-to be. so you can expect everyone generally got good manners. no ragging here so no worries.
5) Facility is good but refer my point #2, some places you need to find transport. We got buses in and out from campus to students apartments, buses to Kangar. Your apartment will be 3 bedroom 2 bathroom with 8-9 ppl inside. Except college inside campus, one of the college is dorm style.

I think thats it to say. dont hesitate to ask since in here got many seniors even more senior than me.

btw Im from manufacturing eng, 2012-2016.

yes its possible. my housemate was the best student of my batch during graduation. final cgpa of 3.95, ptptn become scholarship.

after that he went to b.braun. now chg place already, din remember the company name.

not to say its easy, but it is manageable if you got the spirit and ready to digest technical knowledges.

east? I am Sarawakian after all, totally understand what u feel. No worries, since there will always buses available to go class. be prepared 30-60 min earlier at bus waiting area. also got buses to Kangar town.
if u wanna drive, there are lots of rental companies there, besides students renting their cars out.

during my time we all got VC personal phone number. so everyone din dare to mess with everyone. i think right now also shud be no issue after all. never heard unimap students being ragged.

hi everyone, I would like to ask if anyone had transferred to other universities after finishing their diploma in unimap ?

As i have been thinking to transfer to other universities after finishing diploma, is it easy to transfer to other universities ?

Does anyone here has the experience ? Would you share it to me?

And for degree students, do you think that unimap still a good choice for me to continue further my degree here ?

Thank you!!

I recently heard from a senior saying that UPU need our full results of six semesters in order to proceed, but due to the pandemic and our semester is postponed which delay the release of our intern results. By the time our results come out , the application of UPU has closed. A senior says that he filled the application results without the full results and will wait until the rayuan period and do rayuan again ? I am not sure about it too..... Please enlighten me.... thanks!

Hi.

Generally, it is easier to gain admission to a bachelor's degree program at the university where you earned your diploma (I'm talking about IPTA). If you wish to transfer to another public university with a higher ranking, you can do so through UPU, but I'm not sure it's recommended at the moment due to the pandemic's impact on so many things. Last year, the STPM semester was postponed, causing students to miss their first day of university.

To answer whether or not Unimap is a good choice, I would say that it depends on your perspective because students place a much higher premium on university rankings than they should. However, once you graduate, nobody will care where you graduated from, and there will be a reset button, just as when you completed your spm, your life will be reset regardless of your spm performance.

In Malaysia, only multinational corporations (such as Intel) care about where you graduated from. For small and medium-sized companies, it is irrelevant what your university's ranking is. Instead, your degree program and level of education are far more significant.

Hi everyone, as I am going to have my intern next semester for my diploma studies, I wonder what company would you suggest me to apply, considering I am taking electrical engineering course?

Are Penang and Kedah the best choice considering all the company may recognize UniMAP better than the company in KL?

Would very much appreciate your advice! Thank you!
