QUOTE(GameSky @ Dec 31 2010, 12:09 AM) yeah, guess so..funny it's getting annoying already either change to other distro or revert back to 10.04 :/ Unnecessary step backward if you can get more satisfaction by installing Julia Time to ditch Ubuntu

QUOTE(wanfaris @ Jan 1 2011, 10:36 AM) how about LMDE eh??? wanna try too...but not so 'brave' to install it... Boleh aja cuba, cuma memerlukan sikit tahan mental sbb debian ada sikit berat dia punya susah berbanding Julia. Tengok apa mint punya developer cakap QUOTE Cons:
* Although it’s using Romeo for unstable packages, LMDE continuously changes as it receives updates and new software. Compared to a frozen version of Linux Mint which changes very little once it’s publicly released, it’s not as stable. Things are likely to break more often but fixes can also come quicker. For this reason, LMDE requires a deeper knowledge and experience with Linux, dpkg and APT. * Debian is a less user-friendly/desktop-ready base than Ubuntu. Expect some rough edges. http://blog.linuxmint.com/?p=1604

QUOTE(Acid_RuleZz @ Jan 1 2011, 11:12 AM) good morning and happy new years peeps u install LMDE from LiveDVD or LiveUSB? still having problem when installing LMDE. found few solution to try later. what u mean by sound kinda "too deep"? as for me, everytime i want to shuffle within same album i just 'on' shuffle and select the album. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « A DVD of course, heard that 32bit version is buggy and if you still want to use it, they will respin and release somewhere this month. However the 64bit free of bugs. Currently, do not download the 32bit unless the new spin is release. Read here http://blog.linuxmint.com/

Streamyx at my area is superb, I don't have any complaints so far. I am on 1mbps acc but my 'inside' friend tweak something at their side and I am getting constant speed of almost 2mbps all the time

QUOTE(cocooh @ Jan 1 2011, 09:46 PM) Cool Im using 1MBPS but im also getting 2mbps 1MBPS vs 1mbps? Added on January 1, 2011, 10:56 pmok, I messed something with liquorix, some incompatibility occurred between liquorix and nvidia driver 195xx, top cursor just blinking without any display... no problem with legacy 173xx. It happened twice, removed liquorix and revert back to stock kernel, now I can have my display back. The second issue, I am not able to boot into LMDE from openSUSE's legacy GRUB, changing the boot order and using LMDE's GRUB, everything just fine. This would be a loooong night configuring the GRUB setting, the same setting that worked earlier, does not working now. The thing is, I love openSUSE's legacy GRUB! Told ya, I hate playing with GRUB. I have spent my times with LMDE, not really a user friendly when come into defining the partition especially dual boot with other OS within the same HD. The most annoyed is font in firefox, tried all the suggestions and scripts but only working for some and not to the other areas. Even with best the fonts but with the 22" lcd screen I am using now, the incorrect rendering fonts still haunting me. It maybe good for a smaller 14" laptop screen. I am going back to Julia.

I want to boot into LMDE from openSUSE's grub but for the unknown reason I am not able to do it after few weeks using it. Here is my post at the opensuse forum http://forums.opensuse.org/english/get-hel...-boot-lmde.htmlDon't want to use LMDE GRUB as openSUSE's one is much faster and neat looking too. --sigh--

QUOTE(cocooh @ Jan 3 2011, 05:59 PM) I wonder how does opensuse bootloader looks like all gui, with no text... but if you want to look like a hacker you can always enable the text mode to appear by removing any vga=0x317 word at kernel parameter. In December every year, the GRUB will change itself into pic of penguins with santa claus hat playing with the snow all over the screen. Now January, no longer santa penguin.

QUOTE(cocooh @ Jan 3 2011, 06:40 PM) Woah , which means i can choose gnome or kde or install both ? Yes you can at different installation of partition, or run it within the same OS but you'll find tonnes of 2 native files of KDE and Gnome under the same root. To get run either KDE or gnome, logout and choose what desktop you want and login again but it will be a really messy desktop. The new openSUSE 11.4 will be launch this March, better wait for that as today they are at Milestone 5 level, the 6 will ne the final version. No longer LMDE, showing Julia a way back to her palace. I wish to stay longer with LMDE do to it's rolling release which we do save our time from downloading new iso for each new release. And openSUSE is following suit as the developers are working on a project called Tumbleweed http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-project...1/msg00206.html started with this coming 11.4, openSUSE is going to introduce the rolling release distribution.

QUOTE(axxer @ Jan 4 2011, 02:09 AM) really that nice eh too bad my lmde didnt even have plymouth.. wont dare to install it myself I don't know if openSUSE is using plymouth as Ubuntu does, openSUSE is using legacy GRUB opposed to GRUB2 by Mint. Plymouth is not working against LMDE if I am not mistaken.
