anyone here using apt-fast with aria2 or apt-proz with prozilla?
currently i'm using apt-fast with axel, got 4 threads per file.. if using with aria2 or prozilla maybe could achieve faster speed |

yup got much faster speed using apt-fast, much better than apt-get.
it uses cli downloader to achieve faster speed. apt fast got 2 version, original which uses axel and another one which uses aria2. another one is apt-proz which uses prozilla. ![]() installation apt-fast for ubuntu/linuxmint CODE sudo add-apt-repository ppa:tldm217/tahutek.net sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install apt-fast installation of apt-proz for ubuntu/linuxmint, same as above except the last line, intead use CODE sudo apt-get install apt-proz and u can had both apt-fast and apt-proz on the same machine. now to use it... instead of apt-fast in terminal, u use apt-fast or apt-proz so it should look like CODE apt-fast update apt-fast upgrade apt-fast install apt-fast remove apt-fast autoremove apt-fast purge apt-fast source apt-fast build-dep apt-fast dist-upgrade apt-fast dselect-upgrade apt-fast clean apt-fast autoclean apt-fast check apt-fast markauto apt-fast unmarkauto or in the case of apt-proz CODE apt-proz update apt-proz upgrade apt-proz install apt-proz remove apt-proz autoremove apt-proz purge apt-proz source apt-proz build-dep apt-proz dist-upgrade apt-proz dselect-upgrade apt-proz clean apt-proz autoclean apt-proz check apt-proz markauto apt-proz unmarkauto i'm using it since i've installed my lmde, so far so good This post has been edited by axxer: Dec 30 2010, 03:48 AM |

QUOTE(Acid_RuleZz @ Dec 30 2010, 03:12 AM) i'm using apt-fast. if u not happy with 4 thread u can increase it by editing the apt-fast bash script CODE $ sudo nano /usr/bin/apt-fast on line 42 CODE apt-get -y --print-uris $@ | egrep -o -e "(ht|f)tp://[^\']+" > apt-fast.list && cat apt-fast.list | xargs -l1 axel -a change xargs -l1 axel -a to xargs -l1 axel -n <inser-number-of-connection> -a QUOTE(Acid_RuleZz @ Dec 30 2010, 03:31 AM) i can't really do dl speed comparison since i'm at hometown with 384k screamyx nice but i notice axel generate the download link much faster than prozilla |

just dont delete ur original kernel.. after install liquorix kernel, update ur grub.
when something goes wrong with ur machine when trying to boot with liquorix, ur original kernel is still in grub menu rite even me who already use liquorix for almost two month dont delete my original kernel.. later on when something goes wrong with liquorix kernel update, i still had my original kernel as backup This post has been edited by axxer: Dec 30 2010, 04:37 AM |

its not like liqurix wont work at all with ubuntu http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1588760 or if u just simply want bleeding edge ubuntu kernel http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/ This post has been edited by axxer: Dec 30 2010, 07:14 PM |

@Acid_RuleZz
2-3 people already downloaded that and they claim its still had problem like previous 201012.. i think u should start with 201009 release and just do apt-get upgrade and apt-get dist-upgrade from it. it works for me This post has been edited by axxer: Dec 30 2010, 09:01 PM |

QUOTE(G-17 @ Dec 30 2010, 10:05 PM) Interesting. Too bad Mint only seems to release dvd size iso files for their Gnome desktops. thats why i love my lmde box.. fast and stable, even with me using it with unstable repo... really impressed by it I installed LMDE on a friend's computer yesterday. Have to say it's impressive. Full Gnome desktop + Compiz and it only uses a bit more than 100mb of ram (i686). That's quite close to the minimal Debian and Arch installs after adding Gnome and Compiz. I probably won't install it on my own systems (I prefer building my installs from the ground-up), but I'll definitely recommend it to former Ubuntu users who want a more stable/semi-rolling setup. QUOTE(G-17 @ Dec 30 2010, 10:14 PM) Strange how Liquorix has been on 2.6.36-2 for a while now (at least one week, maybe more) ... I remember the days when Damentz released a new kernel image every 2 days lol every 2 days eh got high risk of system breakdown with that fast release cycle Added on December 30, 2010, 10:39 pm QUOTE(powerwoot @ Dec 30 2010, 10:31 PM) Seriously I don't see any significant improvements between this liquorix and the previous kernel, any benchmarks can we refer to? http://forums.debian.net/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=45151&start=45This post has been edited by axxer: Dec 30 2010, 10:39 PM |
