What about a version II of this? Minus the USB part, just the DAC and separate PSU? brows.gif

I going to make another one for myself, a very very very
good sounding DAC. USB input NOS TDA1541 with fully
discrete output, shielded transformer mount on PCB. And
as usual, naked! For sure the price is not cheap
(3~4 times of wm8501's modal price).

Expected, it wont be a good sale because nobody will appreciate it nor
even pay for over RM300 things for a non-commercial thing. But who
care what in consumers' mind, at least it sound awesome and up for
my needs.

Btw, jazzy, i ordered a Leema xero. sweat.gif

You mean he want to mod into optical/coaxial input? I
don't have it, but I would like to recommend a kits for your
friend which it using TDA1543 and cs8416 as receiver

The passive I/V output for TDA1543 is not good, my friend tested it with
pass Zen I/V stage and it sound pretty nice! Let me know if you need it. The price
is half of the wm8501.

Yes, something like that! laugh.gif
Ok will pass the message. But he's an old hat and has been playing with TDA1541 etc so I don't think he would be keen.
Hey, that Xeema xero speakers. 'Cheap' ah? wink.gif

I've hit a major problem testing this DAC.....how to enable 24bit 192khz USB support in Win7? The USB Audio interface can only go up to 16 bit 48khz.

the pioneer is Texas Instrument.

Design in engineer's context means construction of a circuit to achieve specific goals. To outsiders, this is probably not "original". So unless it's a ground breaking new concept of new topologies or designs, there's no "pioneering" in most analog circuits. (considering they are that old and almost thoroughly explored).
