I learnt frm other forum that an OCBC cardmember was informed by OCBC CS that as long as cardmember settles the retail spending in full, then the BT amount will remain zero interest until the 1st day of 7th statement.
I think this kind of BT is better than those separate BT account which requires the cardmember to pay 5% minimum in order to continue enjoying 0% BT interest. |

So basically we can let the money sit in FD for 6 months then pay BT in full on the 6th month StatementI think this kind of BT is better than those separate BT account which requires the cardmember to pay 5% minimum in order to continue enjoying 0% BT interest. |

The T&C in the OCBC balance transfer form are contradicting itself.I think this kind of BT is better than those separate BT account which requires the cardmember to pay 5% minimum in order to continue enjoying 0% BT interest. At the same of the balance transfer form (not T&C but just some note), it is stated payment will be allocated to purchase first before going to balance transfer. At the back of the form (which is T&C), it is stated clearly your payment will be allocated to previous month purchases before going to balance transfer and lastly to current month purchases. So, the CS might be wrong if OCBC system charging interest based on the T&C. May be we need someone who have done BT to OCBC to confirm this (I did BT to OCBC but have to wait another 2 statements to check out the interest). |

Yes, payment will firstly be allocated to retail spending then only BT. That said, your BT remain 0% as long as you settle retail purchase amount in full. So what's the contradiction? |

So what's the contradiction? QUOTE 15. All payments made to the Cardmember's OCBC Titanium Card Account will be applied in the follow order: (a) in or towards payment of all other fees and charges; (b) in or towards payment of all outstanding interest and finance charges; © in or towards payment of outstanding purchases; (d) in or towards payment of the Approved Balance; (e) in or towards payment of cash advance; and (f) in or towards payment of outstanding purchases and cash advance statement during current month. Do note (see highlighted parts), the payment will be allocated to BT first before CURRENT MONTH purchases. If you are talking one doesn't settle previous statement outstanding purchases, then you are right. This post has been edited by roy918: Jan 5 2011, 04:57 PM |

Let's not argue the statement anymore. I've already consulted three CS in a day regarding the same issue. All replies from CS are the same.
Even my sister also settled retail purchase only, never heard of her complaint about interest charge. She'll never pay interest except homeloan and auto loan. |

Alright, just some discussion to find out what those T&C mean. Even my sister also settled retail purchase only, never heard of her complaint about interest charge. She'll never pay interest except homeloan and auto loan. So, OCBC BT is as good as CIMB separated account BT. |

QUOTE(roy918 @ Jan 5 2011, 05:36 PM) Alright, just some discussion to find out what those T&C mean. In my opinion, OCBC BT is 'slightly' better than CIMB BT. Not only because of no need pay 5%, but also without early exit fee. You may fully settle the BT at any time you like within the BT period. So, OCBC BT is as good as CIMB separated account BT. |

When OCBC Titanium was just relaunched few months ago, I was informed by the CS that payment would be made towards BT outstanding balance first and thereafter retail purchases. That's why I stayed away from OCBC's BT programme. |

QUOTE(MilesAndMore @ Jan 5 2011, 03:12 PM) Anyway, when the officer went through the T&C of this 0% BT, i found out that my current on-going 0% IPP will be slapped with an interest of 5%. I do not know why though. Currently, i have two on-going 0% IPP with my HSBC MasterCard. I was shocked to hear this and immediately asked the officer to cancel the application. Early this morning i read on Malay Mail online that someone complained about HSBC 0% BT program that it comes with hidden charges. This is probably it. HSBC's BT programme is not as famous as CIMB's/DA's BT. Other banks also join the fray by giving 0% interest BT recently. It would better to study the T&Cs thoroughly before enrolling into this programme. |
