QUOTE(winner @ Dec 12 2010, 10:45 AM) We have discussed this many times here. Many forummers here did not get 5% cash back for purchases at Jusco. SESB falls under utility bill category, thus giving you 5% cash back. Same goes to Queensbay Mall Jusco supermarket. Only entitle 1% cash rebate. This post has been edited by roy918: Dec 12 2010, 11:32 AM |

Submitted balance transfer form by fax around 8.45am today (without other credit card statement) and OCBC account already debit with the amount in 2 hours. Do note there is a trick in OCBC balance transfer where payments allocated to balance transfer 1st before going to purchases in current month (as in T&C 15 but it is mentioned differently in the front of balance transfer form) ------------------------------------------- Another good news for those utilizing CIMB/DA 10 months interest free installment for education, insurance and hospital bill. The promotion extended to JUNE 2011. Refer advertisement here This post has been edited by roy918: Dec 22 2010, 11:02 AM |

QUOTE(chemistry @ Jan 5 2011, 03:52 PM) I learnt frm other forum that an OCBC cardmember was informed by OCBC CS that as long as cardmember settles the retail spending in full, then the BT amount will remain zero interest until the 1st day of 7th statement. The T&C in the OCBC balance transfer form are contradicting itself.I think this kind of BT is better than those separate BT account which requires the cardmember to pay 5% minimum in order to continue enjoying 0% BT interest. At the same of the balance transfer form (not T&C but just some note), it is stated payment will be allocated to purchase first before going to balance transfer. At the back of the form (which is T&C), it is stated clearly your payment will be allocated to previous month purchases before going to balance transfer and lastly to current month purchases. So, the CS might be wrong if OCBC system charging interest based on the T&C. May be we need someone who have done BT to OCBC to confirm this (I did BT to OCBC but have to wait another 2 statements to check out the interest). |

QUOTE(chemistry @ Jan 5 2011, 04:46 PM) I do not see any contradiction between your statement and my statement just now. Let me copy the T&C for reference.Yes, payment will firstly be allocated to retail spending then only BT. That said, your BT remain 0% as long as you settle retail purchase amount in full. So what's the contradiction? QUOTE 15. All payments made to the Cardmember's OCBC Titanium Card Account will be applied in the follow order: (a) in or towards payment of all other fees and charges; (b) in or towards payment of all outstanding interest and finance charges; © in or towards payment of outstanding purchases; (d) in or towards payment of the Approved Balance; (e) in or towards payment of cash advance; and (f) in or towards payment of outstanding purchases and cash advance statement during current month. Do note (see highlighted parts), the payment will be allocated to BT first before CURRENT MONTH purchases. If you are talking one doesn't settle previous statement outstanding purchases, then you are right. This post has been edited by roy918: Jan 5 2011, 04:57 PM |

QUOTE(chemistry @ Jan 5 2011, 05:29 PM) Let's not argue the statement anymore. I've already consulted three CS in a day regarding the same issue. All replies from CS are the same. Alright, just some discussion to find out what those T&C mean. Even my sister also settled retail purchase only, never heard of her complaint about interest charge. She'll never pay interest except homeloan and auto loan. So, OCBC BT is as good as CIMB separated account BT. |

QUOTE(chemistry @ Jan 5 2011, 05:40 PM) In my opinion, OCBC BT is 'slightly' better than CIMB BT. Not only because of no need pay 5%, but also without early exit fee. You may fully settle the BT at any time you like within the BT period. Yeah, you are right if the monthly purchases is more than 5% of your BT amount. CIMB BT does not charge early exit fee as well. QUOTE(chemistry @ Jan 7 2011, 01:10 PM) very very big difference. If one happens to hold OCBC Titanium and Amex, do you think OCBC Titanium better than Amex?Titanium offers the most generous permanent cashback rate in town. It has a monthly capping of RM50. Guys pls do not mention Amex 15% cashback as it is a limited period promotio. There is no right or wrong answer but this is purely discussion. There is no point to discuss here if you are limiting what can be discussed. |

QUOTE(hye @ Jan 11 2011, 10:45 PM) Possibly but the right thing to do is to report it to the bank if you suspect anything. Alternatively, phishing websites can be reported to MCMC here.Although the information looks suspicious but there's no crime has taken place yet. The bank's official reply will prove whether this is a scam or not. The information that you shared will be helpful for the folks here and a good reminder to those who came in here and ask whether can apply credit card using email. Don't be lazy to make that trip to the bank or to look for proper cc representatives ... your laziness and stupidity might cost you your identity theft. Personally, I don't apply my credit card via someone who uses their yahoo mail or similar. My last application via email was with someone who uses @citibank email ID. But how fast would MCMC block the website is another question. |
