i check using intel turbo boost monitor...
before repair never reach more than 2.0ghz...
now can maintain max turbo 2.6ghz for about 1 min then it gets hot and the speed goes down to 2.3ghz...

turbo max 2.9ghz when application use 1 core, 2.8ghz 2 core, 2.6ghz 4core..

how is your temperature?

Hey people.

I accidentally dropped my laptop from about 2cm of height few days ago (yes, 2cm).

I occasionally do the S.M.A.R.T. test for my hard drives, and since i got my laptop, i've never had any errors with it.

But since i've dropped my laptop the other day, an error appeared.
It was error "197 - Current Pending Errors Count".

I googled it and its considered a very critical error.

Should i be worried about it? Because my laptop has been functioning fine even since i've dropped it about 4 days ago.
My friends advise me to send it for warranty or a dell center and see what they can do.

Opinions please? all help appreciated biggrin.gif

Just call Dell, most likely they will change the HDD, but don't say you drop it.

when i got the laptop with all the included crap-ware, on standard 500gb hard drive, I think i clocked around 57 seconds. It's considered not that slow la.. if you want, you could reformat and use the provided cd to reinstall everything, this completely removes any crap-ware, but you'll have to download the latest drivers though, the included driver cd have some out-dated ones.

In my setup, I ripped out the hard disk after first boot and plonked in my old ssd, reinstalled everything, now it boots within 15 seconds. wink.gif

buying refurbished laptops are always risky, it really depends on the owner mostly. but if you ask me, I think i'll get a refurbished XPS over an inspiron or any acer shit-top. but remember, it really depends on the owner, so be sure to check everything, and i mean everything. right down to every single key, every led, every pixel if you have to..
