not quite happy with this laptop in terms of quality...
dell qc people probably sleep at factory...

after receiving my i7-l502x on 26th may, the first thing that let me down was the mild electric shock at the palm rest.. shocking.gif
since this is quite common with l502x and many people also experience this problem, i just ignore it..

next thing i do is testing the performance with games, videos and satisfied with it...
but when i check with hwmonitor, then only i know the cooling system got problem...
the temperature is -1c from max which is 99c for motherboard and processor... mad.gif

turbo boost also cannot run because temp very high...

last week i sent back this lappy for repair and they replace the fan + put extra thermal compound...
now, the temp is 85c at full throttle, +-55c mild usage and the electric shock are gone....

overall, other than above problem, this is a great laptop,
for those who are interested in buying/already bought, i'd say go for it and check+test your lappy thoroughly..

bro, I'm curious, how do you check whether turbo boost is running? using prime95, my clock maxes outĀ  at 2.2ghz.. i thought it was supposed to reach 2.9, right?
*
i check using intel turbo boost monitor...
before repair never reach more than 2.0ghz...
now can maintain max turbo 2.6ghz for about 1 min then it gets hot and the speed goes down to 2.3ghz...

turbo max 2.9ghz when application use 1 core, 2.8ghz 2 core, 2.6ghz 4core..

how is your temperature?

Hi Bro, Recently my Laptop XPS L502X I7-2630 OS Crash. Cannot boot to window. Call Dell cant help cause its Software Problem. No choice i reinstall window 7 Home Premium.

Much more faster and better cause no more all those dell crap software inside system. The problem is my interface got 3 type of shortcut button not working. Only the system is working. Any idea how to link back theĀ  shortcut key. The sound wave button and another look like gear is not function.

Thanks

hey guys, is it okay to install official NVIDIA driver instead of using the one Dell provide? So outdated one the driver on Dell's website.

Thanks for the reply. I'm worry because some of the users (as seen above) said that the will spin fast and slow even he was not opening any programs.  sweat.gif So, the volume of the fan will not be noticeable for daly use such as web surfing and word processing.
*

based on my personal experience, at max rpm the fan sound is as loud as most other laptop. Which is quite normal to me.
But while surfing the web(light task), after a while the fan spin at an annoying rhythm. Thats the only thing thats bothering me in the middle of the night while surfing the web. During day time or at noisy place, its less noticeeable.
