Dell told me that my new XPS 15 will arrive in 2 - 3 weeks time, but it came in 1 week!

My L502X came with i7-2630, 8GB RAM, 500GB HDD, 2GB NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 540M graphics with Optimus and 15.6" (39.6cm) FHD (1920x1080) B+RGLED display with TrueLife.

So excited when it came much earlier than expected!

When I turned on the notebook, I thought something was totally wrong, the screen was yellowish when I turned on MS Words. Shouldn't the background be white? The yellowish was an eyesore. I couldn't bare to look at the screen for more than 10 minutes. Anyone with this full HD screen have the same problem? I called Dell TS and relate my disappointment, but they told me that this is the latest RGB+ LED design that the screen looks yellowish. What's more amazing is that the Dell TS solution was for me to downgrade the screen to 15.6" (39.6cm) HD (1366x768) WLED display with TrueLife or replace the system with an Inspiron 15R.

Added on May 19, 2011, 11:28 pmMy new XPS 15 with 15.6" (39.6cm) FHD (1920x1080) B+RGLED display with TrueLife looks yellowish on a white background. Anyone with this full HD display, please turn on your notebook and open a Words document or notepad, and check if your screen is yellowish?

Please reply to me if you encounter the same issue. Thanks.

My screen is fine with pure white. Did you increase/decrease the contrast?

I just ordered the new XPS 15 today. It'll arrive tomorrow according to the supplier. It's basically the same specs as the online version (I opt for Intel i5 2nd gene coz i7 version is way over my budget). And it costs the same RM3299, giving free Belkin bag as well as the McAfee 15 months.

I hope I didn't make the wrong choice getting this coz it kinda costs me a fortune, considering how I'm still studying, and still awaiting for my scholarship $, which is taking forever.

I decided to get a new one because my Acer Aspire 5630 has been lagging a lot giving the *not responding* sign a lot. Also the other day, the fan stopped functioning, causing it to overheat and auto-shutdown several times after like 20 mins. Went to get it repaired but they said my model is pretty old and that I should send it to Acer service centre or sth. But the next day, it suddenly worked again. Weird. Overall, I've never had any huge prob with it the last 4 yrs, frankly. So I still love my Acer, but it's about time to let it rest a bit.

Can't wait to get my hands on the new XPS! This will be my first time using Dell. I was choosing between Toshiba and Dell initially. And when I first saw the XPS's design, I didn't really like as it looks a bit plain and simple, but somehow, it grew on me after reading reviews and watching yt vids of it. Seems pretty alright. I wanna try out some games on it as my Acer can't handle them. rclxm9.gif

This thread really helps a lot regarding the model. I hope it won't disappoint me.

I'm wondering whether its possible to physically upgrade the 540M to a 555M or even 560M. Anybody thought of trying this? tongue.gif

Based on review the throttling on XPS 16 is caused by the 90Watt Power adapter. Not sure mine is 130watt or 90watt, not sure if the last batch of 16 is affected or not since it's been updated.

all dell laptops here are overpriced tbh.
i don't quite understand y also.
bcoz if u see apple online store here, the price they offer is almost similar to that in the US, with reasonable exchange rate, unlike dell online here.

I kinda second this. I looked at the specs, (I'm not a pro in this) but I think other brands can offer more with about the same price, sometimes even lower than theirs.
But I do have a friend who uses Macbook and she has never looked back since, I can understand that though. But the price is the factor that makes me look at other brands. Maybe when I have enough $ to spare, I'll prob get a Macbook then. Not now.

by the way, I got my XPS 15 L502X last night. Bravo to the supplier for fast delivery (not online Dell btw). I tried a bit and I like the keyboard and speakers best. The screen too.

Hello all, I`m thinking of getting a Xps 15 myself. However which one is the better option ? Ordering online or getting the laptop from a computer store? The store is called PC Image in Kuching and they offer other freebies like mouse, cooler pad and etc ... Or should i order online ? Getting a cool Evo bag and customising it sounds really nice as well ? Comments ?

Btw What is the best way to order online ? Kinda blur seeing 4 options given on the dell website ... Thanks

This XPS L502 comes with switchable graphic. Its suppose to switch graphic automatically. But why the system just defauted to Intel HD graphic even when i use it to play high end graphic intensive games? or maybe i need to choose it manually?

Where i suppose to view which graphic the system is currently running? The software and the task manager just show intel hd. Help pls
