hi guy ,i not sure any body having this issue on the graphic card or not ..
i am dell xpx 14 user here , my spec is i5 spec , i having a issue on my graphic card NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 420M with 1GB graphics memory (standard), the issue is sometime it can detect the graphic card , sometime cannot detect the graphic card, lucky this laptop come with one more built in intel graphic.so i still able to boot up my laptop...
i have try to reformat the laptop, but lastly this issue come back to me again....when the system did no detect the graphic , there is no any signal and symptom also , it look like normal , just when u go into device manager, it onli show intel built in graphic card...

i personally don't own the i5 xps15 with optimus but from what i think, the GT420M graphics card will only be detected when an application with heavy graphics requirement is launched (e.g games)

then again, i dont own the i5 xps15 with optimus. so this is just my two cents.

today dell engineer come and change my motherboard liao , after change liao..

still having the problem after changing motherboard?

Hi, isnt the xpx is come with NVIDIA Optimus ??
It will auto switch between integrated gc and NVIDIA gc.
when during normal usage which not require high end graphic, then it will switch to integrated.
when you are doing gaming, then it will switch to NVIDIA gc.

All this can be configure from the NVIDIA graphic software.
I not sure same case for your machine but for my asus laptop with Optimus was like that.

Either way it is still enough for those games. I have the 420 (weakest) one and it sails through COD4, COD6, Mafia II, BF:BC2.

Since xps 14 had been discontinued..anyone noe when is the new facelift xps 14 coming?
