I ordered XPS 14 on 26th Jan. But today I got an email from Dell stated the estimated delivery date is on/b4 9th March. Is that normal to take 1 month long to build a laptop? Anyone have this kind of experience with dell b4?

it doesnt affect the processor, but it affects the e-Sata port on the Mobo... as they stated, the port would deteriorate over time.. means we won't even be able to see the problems within the first few months or in short term..

Added on February 1, 2011, 11:58 amdepends how u treat the word safe also lar...

since we're gonna buy 2-3 years warranty for our laptops, within that period if anything happens we can have warranty to change it....
if not, means the Mobo is just fine...

Well at least that's how i look at it..

Ah, I don't know about any of these technical jargon to be honest... rclxub.gif I see, well so that means only the motherboards that were released are faulty? I thought it's the e-SATA controller in the chipset? blink.gif

It takes 2 weeks - 1 month for them to build your system based on your configuration. I got mine in 3 weeks.

I ordered mine on 26 Jan and was given a ETA of 02 Feb. During production the date got pushed back to 07 Feb, called to pressure them a bit when the system was completed on 28 Feb. Got my beloved XPS15 on 01 Feb just in time for CNY. biggrin.gif

Hi,

I ordered a XPS14 on january 30. I was wondering what is an approximate date based on your guys experience I can believe to receive it. I'm living in Canada. Strangely, on dell website it says march 30, this is really unacceptable, two months for a laptop...
Thanks

For those of you who are wondering about the XPS 14, I called Dell and they told me they have a shortage on some components and they can't give me an estimate whether my laptop will be delivered or not...

Almost the same tune I got from Dell earlier. Got my ETA pegged at feb. 28 (ordered mine jan. 19) and the status in "work in progress" for some time now. I was wondering if maybe the problem with the sandy bridge messed up their production line or something. Dunno.

For sure the 6300 wireless card is no longer available at the moment.

Oh.. and maybe the chinese new year holidays affected their manufacturing too. I was informed my XPS 14 is being built in China (previously thought it was gonna be built in Penang hehe)
