i've never trained my rabbit yet but what i heard is, if the rabbit is allowed to roam around the room,

1. buy a litter box and put it in a corner

2. use some hay and soak it with some of its pee

3. put it in the litter box

4. hopefully he will choose that particular corner to do its business smile.gif

if successful, cleaning litter boxes is much easier. going to try on my rabbit also once i can find a proper sized litter box.

Rabbit normally will mark his/her territorial by their pee or poo. U can observe where they frequently mark these places n try to put a litter tray there. U can also confine yr rabbit into a cage or play pen n let them do their business there. As time goes by, yr rabbit will recognize the place that they normally do their business n u can slowly increase their roaming area. Try to put their eating and drinking bowl near to the litter box as rabbit will normally do their business after eating/drinking. smile.gif

hi.
merry Christmas to all that celebrate it smile.gif

an expected event occur today. my rabbit give birth to 7 new babies.
i dont expect to have a baby bunnies yet because i never intend to mate them.
the male n female are both put in separated cage, maybe they mate when i let them free to play out of their cage.

but its already happen, so i would like to seek for advice from expert/ senior member than breed rabbit.

i woke up this morning and see my rabbit already give birth. i didnt put any breeding box..so she give birth in the cage.

i do some reading and i put a box and put the babies in the box.

i hope that i'm doing the right thing here...
this is my first experience, and this is also my rabbit (her name is angel), first birth.

i also read that some mother didnt want to feed the baby, and have to do a force feed.
how do i know that angel will just ignore her baby and dont give milk to them?

please advice.
thanks

I have two rabbits of about 1 yr old, both males, one lionhead mixed and the other white rabbit, they have been living together in the cage and most of the times within the balcony area just fine, and they seem to love each other from young. They started to ride on each other since they are 5-6 months old but still very close to each other and groom each other.

Three weeks ago, We decided to bring them to the vet to get them both neutered to tone down their sexual aggressiveness and for better health, so they have just recovered from the surgery and back to normal. but one thing unusual happened was, they become gentle to me but very aggressive towards each other, whenever they are put together, they will fight like they going to kill each other, so we have no choice but to keep them both in separate cages.

Anyone has had the same problem before? they have never fought with each other before, we call them the gay couple but now they can't even get near to each other for more than 3 seconds. I thought neutering is suppose to make them more gentle and less territorial, but now is the other way round. Any idea what to do to improve the situation?

some rabbits are more territorial than others..more of an instinct than hormonal thing..different rabbit different personality
but to me i think every rabbit deserve to have their own cage(own space)...if i would to have 2-3 rabbits i would put them in seperate cages as well instead of putting them together.

U have done right thing. Please cover the side of the cage where u put the nest box and leave mommy alone. Check again the next day to see if babies are fed. Don't disturb them anymore...

Hope you have good plans for all 7 babies....

Good luck!
