hi.
merry Christmas to all that celebrate it smile.gif

an expected event occur today. my rabbit give birth to 7 new babies.
i dont expect to have a baby bunnies yet because i never intend to mate them.
the male n female are both put in separated cage, maybe they mate when i let them free to play out of their cage.

but its already happen, so i would like to seek for advice from expert/ senior member than breed rabbit.

i woke up this morning and see my rabbit already give birth. i didnt put any breeding box..so she give birth in the cage.

i do some reading and i put a box and put the babies in the box.

i hope that i'm doing the right thing here...
this is my first experience, and this is also my rabbit (her name is angel), first birth.

i also read that some mother didnt want to feed the baby, and have to do a force feed.
how do i know that angel will just ignore her baby and dont give milk to them?

please advice.
thanks

I dont get what u are trying to say about expect but dun expect part and your intension on breeding

but just make sure the babies stay warm and the mother should be nursing them every few hours..if she dont i guess u got a lot of work to do to and make sure the babies gets the milk from the mother..
u can name them after santa's reindeers...happy.gif that would be cute
*
this birth is not plan.hee
i do have intention to breeed them, but not now.
i always make sure when i give them play time, i dont let them mate.
i guess i "terlepas pandang" and they mate.haih! both of them have their own cage.

how to know if the mother dont want to give milk to them?

please advice smile.gif

p/s- nice idea for the naming.hehe

They are doing OK smile.gif.
this is the my rabbit first litter.
hope all of them survive.

QUOTE(alaskanbunny @ Dec 27 2010, 12:54 AM)
what are ur plans for baby bunnies? up for adoption?
*
i have no plan yet. right now only want to do the best for them.
maybe will put for adoption because when they grow up, i will have problem to keep them all.not enough space.

QUOTE(sangterap @ Dec 27 2010, 01:58 AM)
U have done right thing. Please cover the side of the cage where u put the nest box and leave mommy alone. Check again the next day to see if babies are fed. Don't disturb them anymore...

Hope you have good plans for all 7 babies....

Good luck!
i have done some modification to the basket. i make a roof so that the mother will not lompat masok n pijak.hee

the mother is lion head. and the father, i dont really know what type, when i buy, (the pet shop at midvalley), they put the label as anggora, but i doubt this is angora since the fur is not like anggora rabbit. i think the father is mix of hotot n other type or rabbit. this it the father, anyone know what breed is this?

QUOTE(kcchiu @ Dec 26 2010, 11:43 AM)
I have two rabbits of about 1 yr old, both males, one lionhead mixed and the other white rabbit, they have been living together in the cage and most of the times within the balcony area just fine, and they seem to love each other from young. They started to ride on each other since they are 5-6 months old but still very close to each other and groom each other.

Three weeks ago, We decided to bring them to the vet to get them both neutered to tone down their sexual aggressiveness and for better health, so they have just recovered from the surgery and back to normal. but one thing unusual happened was, they become gentle to me but very aggressive towards each other, whenever they are put together, they will fight like they going to kill each other, so we have no choice but to keep them both in separate cages.

Anyone has had the same problem before? they have never fought with each other before, we call them the gay couple but now they can't even get near to each other for more than 3 seconds. I thought neutering is suppose to make them more gentle and less territorial, but now is the other way round. Any idea what to do to improve the situation?
*
may i know where is the vet?
i'm planning to neutered/spray my rabbit also.
can you please PM me the pricing for the operation.

thanks

oh sorry i mean litterbox train. yes it makes my life easier that he does his business in the cage but i wanna litterbox train him so the area to clean is smaller. he does it in a large area, sometimes here, sometimes there, not in 1 particular corner. lol.
*
this is what i do to toilet train my bunny.

1. depend on your cage..my cage i can remove the wire floor. leave only the plastic tray. i clean the tray and put news paper.
2. left my rabbit in cage for 24 hours and observe which corner that have the most pee, not the poop. poop will be everywhere in the cage.
3. after knowing which is the favorite corner, i clean up the tray, and put container/litterbox. also place some poop and the peed news paper inside the container.
4. after i see my rabbit using the toilet, then i put back the wire floor.

this is how i toilet train my rabbit. it work for both of my bunnies. but expect some poop here and there..the most important is the pee. when they pee inside the box, the poo will follow smile.gif.

hope it help.
(result may vary smile.gif )

ohhh ok.. maybe i should try that method. i try to force him to poo and pee at the litter box corner so i put all the food and water at that corner. lol.

mine cannot remove wire one i think. what if he dont pee in corner, currently now mine dont pee in corner one. i have no problem with the poo actually, not really smelly so no problem cleaning, but the pee is big problem. lol.
*
maybe you can put news paper in the tray to see where you rabbit pee smile.gif

recently i brought Oxbow Basic/T - Timothy base pallet for my 8 month old holland lop.
the feeding direction.

CODE
Feeding Directions:
The following information is meant as a guideline. The needs of individual rabbits may vary. If your rabbit is over or under weight, please contact your veterinarian for more specific feeding information. 75% of your rabbit's diet should be grass hay.

Weight : Amount to feed daily (mature rabbits over one year old)

   * 1-3 lbs.: 1/8 cup
   * 4-7 lbs.: 1/4-1/3 cup
   * 8-10 lbs.: 1/3-1/2 cup
   * 10+ lbs.: 3/4 cup

my bunny is 2.9lbs.
so i should give 1/8 cup per day
or
1/8 cup X body weight (2.9lbs) per day.

please help.
