woody toy is a old name for Jersey wooly. However those woody toy that i have seen around is not close to the sop of jersey wooly.
teddy bears is a mixture of ea and dwarf. none recognize breed. ppl just breed them as the demand for small and fluffy rabbits is high. |

Lion Head still got 2 more years to go for passing the New Breed. Theresa just passed the 1st stage: Presentation of the Lionhead Rabbit
to the ARBA Standards Committee in year 2010 in MN. She will be doing the 2nd stage this year in Indiana. Finger cross, hopes everything goes well with the presentation. additional info, Lionhead is a recognize breed by BRC. it all started in 1999 and officially recognize in year 2002 This post has been edited by Puremate: Feb 13 2011, 02:37 PM |

QUOTE(Ad Hominem @ Feb 15 2011, 07:29 AM) Alright - any 'new breed' thats probably / in the process of being recognised besides Lionhead's? No worries. I hope with the above answer it clear some of your thoughts on purebred and premium rabbits. Those that i known of in Malaysia. Is striving for quality rabbits. They have spend lots of money to import the rabbits in, get the mini rabbitry up. Some even dedicate a room of theirs to the rabbit. They even feed one of the best rabbit feed in the industry you can get. This show how much the rabbitry care for their rabbits. When one get into all this purebred/pedigree stuff, they are all aiming for the best quality rabbit. We will be having the 1st ARBA sanction show in Malaysia. Everyone would like to have their rabbit win something base on the SOP of ARBA. This again show that they are aiming for quality rabbit. Please bear in mind the the SOP and judge is very strict with DQs and fault. Any minimal fault and health problem, it will be shown to the door. Related question to 'purebred's' below 1. When a rabbitry states that they'll provide pedigree, what does it mean? A 'guarantee' that the rabbit sold comes from the said 3-generations? Whats the guarantee that the rabbit actually does come from those dams / sires, grand dams / sires, great grand dams / sires (even with tattooing, one can 'forge') - especially if none in the line are Grand Champions / Leg winners (and as such are registered with ARBA and tattooed on right ear). A pedigree means birth cert to certified that the rabbit is from the said rabbitry and from the said Dam/Sire. To your 2nd question above, it will base on the honesty of the breeder. One can choose to be crook or the nice guy in every field. Hence always get them from the reliable and reputable rabbitry. 2. What are the conditions for a rabbitry to give 'pedigree's'? Must they must be registered (breeders / members) with ARBA? All the pedigree issue, is to make sure that one rabbit is of pure breed and is from particular line for the specific feature of the rabbit. There are no special condition for a rabbitry to give out the pedigree. And no, they need not to be register with ARBA to give the pedigree out. 3. If a rabbit (say Holland Lop) does not have a 3-generation pedigree, but still wants to be 'Registered' (by ARBA), will it be approved by the Registrar? You may get the answer from ARBA FAQ, i have copy paste the same from ARBA: In order to register your rabbits or cavies, you must be a member of the ARBA. The rabbit or cavy must be at least 6 months of age, and you must have a 3 generation pedigree for the animal being registered. The pedigree must show the name and/or ear number, weight, and variety of the parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents (3 generations) of the animal being registered. (all ancestors in the 3 generations MUST be of the same breed as the animal being registered). A licensed Registrar for the species must examine the animal and fill out an application for registration, which is sent to the ARBA office. The information for the registered animal is then entered into our computer system and we have a record of that animal for all time. A certificate of registration for the animal is then sent to you. With the above, i hope it answer your question. The answer is NO. 4. If there is a '3-generation pedigree' provided by a rabbitry but none of the 3 generations Registered with ARBA, and none are Leg winners or a GC, can one still Register the rabbit (eg Holland Lop) with ARBA? If yes, then one can just import a purebred HL, and then 'claim' that the rabbit's '1st generation offspring' has '3-generations pedigree' (using the said Rabbitry's name), with phony / forged lines, as its not a requirement that all 'pedigreed' rabbits be Registered with the ARBA it will be difficult to trace... How would one know that the '3rd generation' offspring is actually '3rd', and not 1st generation? The other 2 generations can forge, especially when the rabbits get older and mature in size. Yes, you may still register the said rabbit that come with non register 3 generations pedigree. The registrar will weigh your rabbit and look over every part, including teeth, nails, tail, and genitalia. If your rabbit meets the qualifications, the registrar will tattoo the right ear, check your ARBA card. Well, again it will be the reputation and brand thing. Pay peanut and get junk. What you pay is what you get. They are tons of breeders out there. Some strive for quality some strive for quantity. So its the matter of who you look up to. The price or the quality. Also, i have stated in my 1st answer to you that one can be crook or can be the mr nice guy. Prospect owner can do their research and find out about individual breeder record. Their past winning or who is their line of rabbit from. Any doubts or so, can just clarify with the USA rabbitry to double confirm that the rabbit is from them. Sorry for the many questions - just curious about this whole 'purebred' issue and the 'premium' it places. TQ! http://www.facebook.com/#!/event.php?eid=129673237098570 here is the link for the show. above statement is my own opinion and my own facts finding. It does not represent any clubs, breeders or whatsoever. It is solely my own. Thank you. This post has been edited by Puremate: Feb 15 2011, 09:34 AM |
