you definitely cannot bond a 2 year old with a new born. New born does not have fur, eyes are shut and needs mommy's milk. If you are getting a juvenile, initial bonding must be monitored. Good luck

It really depends because your senior rabbit may be harassing the new kid on the block or may even bite him due to aggression. You may never know so it is best to keep them separately and allocating supervise bonding time. Make sure you are around to monitor that there is no "ragging".

Bear in mind that pellets are "fillers" to provide the rabbit with the nutrients lacking in the hay. You should make sure that the rabbit have hay 24/7 and pellets to be given according to the suggested feeding instructions. Also take note on your rabbits overall condition. If it is too thin, add more pellets else maintain the amount.
QUOTE(apengfx- @ Jan 12 2011, 09:21 AM) ![]() muka-muka-bontot recently i brought Oxbow Basic/T - Timothy base pallet for my 8 month old holland lop. the feeding direction. CODE Feeding Directions: The following information is meant as a guideline. The needs of individual rabbits may vary. If your rabbit is over or under weight, please contact your veterinarian for more specific feeding information. 75% of your rabbit's diet should be grass hay. Weight : Amount to feed daily (mature rabbits over one year old) * 1-3 lbs.: 1/8 cup * 4-7 lbs.: 1/4-1/3 cup * 8-10 lbs.: 1/3-1/2 cup * 10+ lbs.: 3/4 cup my bunny is 2.9lbs. so i should give 1/8 cup per day or 1/8 cup X body weight (2.9lbs) per day. please help. |

try to search out for home breeders and check for cleanliness. I recommend home breeders because there has been many bad experiences shared to me in the past regarding the following:
1. rabbit are "harvested" from the farms/mills below 8 weeks (to retain cuteness and attraction factor). Most are unlucky and may not survive. 2. they may claim to be pedigree but the most you will probably get a unrecognized 2 generation pedigree. Good luck! QUOTE(CyberTroop @ Feb 7 2011, 06:58 PM) |

You should get 2 months old (8 weeks). But it is alright. Below 6 months give alfalfa and make sure mix with Timothy Hay also.
Above 6 months Timothy Hay or other grass hay. QUOTE(yeelin04 @ Feb 9 2011, 06:52 PM) hye i got myself a baby bunny 1month 1 week, shud i give her TIMOTHY hay / ALFAFA hay? Bermuda grass is also a type of grass hay. As long as copter eats, everything is fine.cos the seller told me to give TIMOTHY hay? QUOTE(zenix @ Feb 10 2011, 01:35 AM) Just make sure he/she touches any other grass hay. get good quality pellets as well. Avoid anything with coloring.QUOTE(yeelin04 @ Feb 10 2011, 08:52 AM) |

Vegetables for young bunnies is a huge NO NO NO for me. Kang Kung is worst.
Can you please stick with feeding Timothy Hay and rabbit pellets for now? I would suggest that you get a bottle of Rabbit Nutri-Drops feed it 1ml per 3 lbs body weight or add to water accordingly. You should also get American Pet Diner (APD), Critter Be Better Probiotic pellets. That is good for its stomach. I suspect your little bunny is still too small. Nutri-Drops can be fed to even 1 day old baby rabbits so making it very safe supplement. You must make sure your rabbit gets enough water. Monitor through the water bottle that you are using (provided that it is not leaking). When a rabbit stops eating/peeing/pooing, hydration is the most important thing. QUOTE(yeelin04 @ Feb 10 2011, 07:29 PM) Today morning i check still got poop..but now nv poop..my feeding water bottle keep leaking on the tray so make the whole newspaper wet..just changed a better bottle for her ady..my mom gave her kangkung only 1 in the morning when i m asleep..cos yest i still saw her eating pallets, then now no ady.. Really afraid she is hungry, i took out the ball ady, and put at her feeding bowl but she still not touching any foods at all.. |

Thanks for the compliments Funky Milo, my rabbits are on APD and Pro Optimum pellets exclusively. And lotsa HAY too.....
Glad u got the mites sorted out.. QUOTE(Funky Milo @ Feb 11 2011, 10:59 AM) Sangterap!!!! Hikaru,I love your rabbits.... What do you feed them with... My Barney...is free to roam around the house...I don't know if Barney is a male or female... Barney only poo and pee in the cage.. He had mites when my son took him home. Now all gone took him to the vet. Best combination is neutered buck and intact doe. Castration is much more straight forward and cost a little lesser than spaying. Good luck! QUOTE(HikaruHyori @ Feb 11 2011, 02:23 PM) Hi rabbit lover. That's good news! Please allow me to ask for some guide. If i have two bunny, male and female, who should i bring to neuter? Can advise? Any recommended vet for neutering rabbits? Many thanks~ Rabbit have major molt once every year. No months in particular. They have minor molt every now and then..... QUOTE(Ad Hominem @ Feb 15 2011, 07:29 AM) Alright - any 'new breed' thats probably / in the process of being recognised besides Lionhead's? Related question to 'purebred's' below 1. When a rabbitry states that they'll provide pedigree, what does it mean? A 'guarantee' that the rabbit sold comes from the said 3-generations? Whats the guarantee that the rabbit actually does come from those dams / sires, grand dams / sires, great grand dams / sires (even with tattooing, one can 'forge') - especially if none in the line are Grand Champions / Leg winners (and as such are registered with ARBA and tattooed on right ear). It is all based on trust. Some breeders are known to make amend to the lineage. Throw in doe into buck's cage at shows and fake pedigrees. All these things can happen so it matter how strong a breeder holds onto his/her principles regarding the issuance of Pedigree. Some breeders may even send PET rabbits this way and sell them with pedigree made by themselves. There are some breeders issuing a pedigree with just the parents being listed and I suspect those rabbits used for breeding do not have a pedigree to begin with. 2. What are the conditions for a rabbitry to give 'pedigree's'? Must they must be registered (breeders / members) with ARBA? Covered by Pure Mate 3. If a rabbit (say Holland Lop) does not have a 3-generation pedigree, but still wants to be 'Registered' (by ARBA), will it be approved by the Registrar? NO, a rabbit without 3 generation pedigree cannot be registered BUT it can be shown if it adhere to ARBA's Standard Of Perfection. This means that the rabbits in question will not be able to obtain Grand Champion cert. 4. If there is a '3-generation pedigree' provided by a rabbitry but none of the 3 generations Registered with ARBA, and none are Leg winners or a GC, can one still Register the rabbit (eg Holland Lop) with ARBA? If yes, then one can just import a purebred HL, and then 'claim' that the rabbit's '1st generation offspring' has '3-generations pedigree' (using the said Rabbitry's name), with phony / forged lines, as its not a requirement that all 'pedigreed' rabbits be Registered with the ARBA it will be difficult to trace... How would one know that the '3rd generation' offspring is actually '3rd', and not 1st generation? The other 2 generations can forge, especially when the rabbits get older and mature in size. Simply put, you can register a rabbit with ARBA as long as it has 3 generations pedigree. Sorry for the many questions - just curious about this whole 'purebred' issue and the 'premium' it places. Give him back, ask him to take care till 8 weeks only take back from him. It is outrageous and unethical to pass baby rabbits under 8 weeks....

smell does not cause rabbit to bite you. nothing related at all. he bites you because he thinks you're his MATE. He wants to ride on you.
There is something called a litter tray. A triangular litter tray that you put on the corner of the cage where he likes to pee/poo. Woody pet wood pellets u put inside the Litter Tray. Share with you something. Food also makes a lot of difference in terms of smell. Try feeding American Pet Diner Timmy pellets. You will soon notice that your room is odor free.... Good luck! QUOTE(techi5 @ Feb 15 2011, 09:39 PM) Hello again. My almost one year old rabbit stinks! His pee and poo is very smelly. I keep him in my room so it effects me alot. I read in this rabbit thread is to get a woody pet bedding for it? How do i use it? Currently he's in a wired cage, and i put newspaper underneeth and he pee at cone corner but sh*t everywhere. I'll get one woodypet bedding soon, but how do i use it? place it in a bowl and put under the cage or inside the cage? I saw somewhere theres this powder, u insert into his water and his urine wont be so smelly, is that ture and will it be harmful to my rabbit? one last question, what will rabbit react when they're in a smelly environment? Today while i was preparing food for him, after inserting food in the cage, he jump and bite my hand then go away. Nothing is wrong, he's not starving nor thirsty, he just decided to bite me. The only thing i notice is the smelly smell. Can it be? thankyou in advance! |

You can order Pro Optimum online my friend and if there is no smell using Pro Optimum why don't you continue? You should just continue with Pro Optimum.
This is how you use Woody Pet: QUOTE(techi5 @ Feb 15 2011, 09:57 PM) ride on me? lol! American Pet Diner Timmy pellets? where do i get them and at what price? I used to feed ProOptimum, but he love to eat it, less than a month 2boxes gone! I'm not free to go to the pet shop as there's no pet shop nearby my house, so i went to the place i bought this rabbit to buy some pellets. And after eating those his pee and poo stink. If the American Pet Diner Timmy pellets is priced almost the same as pro optimum then i might switch to it. Btw, I drink carrot, apple juice everyday, i have a juicer. can i feed him those extracted things? the wood pellets is for eating or absorb smell? thankyou in advance! |
