It depends. Sony is not a popular brand. However A35 is also a very good camera.

If your budget allows, go for Sony A65 and it will outperform other competitors from Canon to Nikon in the range. (Canon 600D and Nikon D5100.)

Overall Sony is the better choice if you are keen in video shooting as it can AF during video recording. Canon can't.

yes, there are times where I'll shoot HD or FullHD video. SLT able to AF on the fly right? So it beats Canon in this category?

A65 is kind of out of my budget range

What's the disadvantage for A35 other than the LCD?

Although not the best in the SLT family, but A35's AF capability beats every Canon.

About the disadvantages, erm...maybe its mentality problem. I don't like A35 being a downgrade to its older brother A33 (although only the LCD becomes normal again). Multi angle LCD is very important to me since I always take photos in lower angle.

By the way most lenses produce noise when doing Autofocus. So it's also essential to invest in a SSM lens.

Another words, no harm investing A35 or Canon 600D?

If have extra money, why not?

But only go for one of them if you are really buying. Since they both offer almost the same thing. However, A35 outperforms a bit in Video and Dynamic Range which is important for landscape.
