i have 2 DC in my mind now....but i dunno which i should buy........ rclxub.gif Should I SONY buy TX-5 or wait for the new launch of TX-10 in march??coz their functions are most or less the same...

TX5
Pros
-price cheaper--about rm1100-1200

Cons
-old model-launch in 2010 feb
-does not support Full HD 1080/60i video.
-common issue like:the color of the camera cover peeled off
-stop production for this model

TX10
Pros
is equipped with full HD recording in AVCHD format.
New model-will launch in March 2011, replacement for TX5

Con:
should be slightly pricey than TX5 since new launch-USD330...maybe need to wait until April for launching.... doh.gif

pls advice...thanks smile.gif

Not to say it is expensive to change the lens. but it has no AF in the body. therefore you have to use the AF motor from the lens.
like the newer model of the lens. this called AF-S. therefore this D3100 model can only use AF-S lens, else you will lose your auto focusing.
and usually AF-S is more expensive due better optical, and more accurate focusing, better built-in, yet it focus slower compared to previous AF model.

Hello,

I am interested in a Sony Cyber-shot DSC-WX5. I have been checking in the Sony compact cameras and, after filtering, that is the one i am looking for: compact yet powerful.

Just wanted to check if anyone can recommend any other model, from other brand, in the same category of size/specs/price.

Thanks!

hey guys! i'm deciding to get a 'semi-pro' or a compact with manual controls. want to see where my new interest in photography will lead me to but at the moment, not considering to buy a dslr yet (unless price is right ) anyways, i was thinking maybe the panasonic lumix LX5 is the one to go for? luv the retro-ish design n the manual controls. but of coz i do wish it comes with higher megapixel, full HD video instead of HD & further zooming. So perhaps you camera kaki's here got better recommendations. I guess my budget will be abt (rm1.6k+).

Type of camera/lens/accesories: 'semipro'/ compact with manual controls (aperture/shutter priority)/ dslr (if my budget allows)
[B]Budget: RM1.6k+
[B]Your Location:
Penang Island
[B]Preferable brand : Open to all brands janji camera bagus
[B]Type of photography u want to do : new in photography, so i would say an all rounder shooting
[B]Any specific models in mind? : Panasonic Lumix LX5
[B]Any specific features u want? : Full HD (1080) video recording, manual controls.

Thanks!

An Easy Guideline:
1) Choosing between brands = NO NO, because your choosing from your pre-percieved knowledge or influenced by advertisements . If you think Canon / Nikon / Sony / Leica or whatever brand takes better photo, probably you should take a good photo from each of those cameras and ask a PRO to tell you which camera did the photo came from.

2) Choosing between Compact / Semi / DSLR = forget everything your doing now, imagine the size and weight of the camera you wan to bring around.
Hate carrying extra things / want to take good photos in AUTOMATIC mode = COMPACT (Compact can take better "looking" pictures more often than DSLR)
restricted by budget but want something that look better but dont really function better = SEMI
Want to attempt to look professional / be professional = DSLR (Better quality photos but beginners and amateurs will end up with photos worse than COMPACT if you do not have the patiences and interest in photography)

3) Choosing between models of same brand = newer models or more expensive cameras are better
