Those are what separates the 60D from the 550D, but do potential buyers really need those features? Most of them who are clueless about DSLR as such, will just go " Waaaa Canon 60D is the latest camera, i should get it!" or " 60D looks good! I'll get it" . Just like that.

Like i mentioned earlier before, if you need those nifty features offered by a 60D over a 550D, then get it. If not, why even bother? A 550D will do it's job excellently also. Not talking about subjects which require fast AF lock on or excellent AI servo performance whatsoever.. biggrin.gif

Then again, some might just prefer the bigger body of the 60D. The grip is bigger, meatier and nicer to hold especially for those with bigger hands. A bigger body would be able to balance heavier lenses better also, due to the extra weight.

Difference between 550D&60D body is roughly around RM800.Is it that worth it? That is what buyers should think about smile.gif

you've forgotten the articulating screen, that's one feature i can't live without now.

both produces very good images....yes the ghosting will come out if you did those really hardcore test just to find ghosting, otherwise...it won't appear. even if it does, its nothing to much to be bothered with.

erm , how bout giving extra info like what your father gear are ? ..... help to give more accurate answer ....
they u need to find your others point to support 60D ... ISO performance , sensor , weight , video , etc ...

as for the LCD .... i love the live view a LOT more than LCD ... just for reviewing is fine smile.gif  .... unless u always take bird eye view / low angle shot / video , then u may like the LCD (it is more like a bonus feature )

(that why dun really fancy a33 / a55 ) , oh a note to A33 /A55 ... i am not sure if it is just my friend ..... but the battery drain faster i guess .... may b due to the LCD view finder
*
from the feedback of a55 users..the battery can easily last them the whole day...

and what LCD are you talking about? EVERY camera has a LCD screen what...

Ola!

Desperately need you guys help!

My current compact camera (Nikon Coolpix L6) photo taken not that sharp anymore. Maybe due to my baby girl 'accidently' drop it on the floor.

Im looking for a compact camera for easy usage. Furthermore, due to my shaky hand, its kinda difficult to take photo with 1 hand. Furthermore, the camera that can solve that problem normally will be more than RM1k.

Hope you guys can assist me here.

Thanking in advance.

Cheers!
*
try sony tx-5...can drop on floor..drop in water..no problem..can get about 1.1k plus...

QUOTE(Tony Stark @ Dec 17 2010, 04:24 AM)
im not sure wether i got this fact right onot, but a fren of mine (who lives next door to me tongue.gif), is using a D5000. i ask him why not D90? he said that the big diff between these 2 cameras is the vari-angle screen, and the D90 (920k-dot resolution) while the D5000 (230k-dot resolution LCD screen), D5000's smaller, the D90 got this upper LCD screen as well (which looks nicer to me IMO tongue.gif). other than that, im not really sure. btw, from my point of view, i think the D5000 is more for a starters who wants to try some new things with the LCD screen that can swivel, and it smaller, hence its lighter. the LCD screen may come in handy if u're trying to shoot some high/low angle shots. but maybe viewing back ur images will not be as nice as viewing on the D90's 920k-dot screen. if u dont mind about the screen resolution, go for D5000. and if u do, D90 then. hope this helps  thumbup.gif

p/s- if i said anything wrong about these 2 cameras, pls do correct me. the fact is i only read about these stuffs. i dont own any smile.gif
*
it won't make it any easier though. the live view auto focus is very slow and not that accurate. in the end you might have to resort to manual focus.

QUOTE(hikari @ Dec 17 2010, 05:09 PM)
thanks. but i'm more concerned bout picture quality. does it differ?
if manual focus, d90 is better right since it has pentaprism and higher magnification of viewfinder?
thanks. but i dont have any lens in mind that i want to get except for 35mm f1.8 nikkor, which also comes with AF motor in the lens itself. any future lens that will be produced will also include AF motor right?

I'm actually contemplating, because I can get a D5000 with 18-55mm kit lens + a 35mm f1.8 + extra battery compared to only D90 with 18-105mm kits lens. however, is the extra battery necessary in D90? i'm so confused nowwww  sad.gif
*
nope what i meant was using manual focus while using live view because the AF is bad. it sorts of defeats the purpose right (of live view+tilt screen)?

erm.. i'm sorry, but IQ in a sense of what? can you further explain it? i'm also worrying about the downside of 1 versatile lens

what is your purpose of the camera?

if its just casually shooting without any demanding requirements from your side the 18-200 should do a good job.

oppss, i totally miss out  tx5... y tx9 is exp than tx5 while function all same and tx5 got waterproof ?  shocking.gif

but i prefer canon 300hs tho... sony's price is quite un user friendly and the design its totally same in these few years  sweat.gif

lx5 is too big for her... she just need a dc, all auto  tongue.gif
*
tx-9 got better video ma...can shoot full HD... laugh.gif and the tx series sooo slim..girls sure love it... tx-5 is selling 1299 at retail now..u should be able to get it below 1.2k...still within ur budget ma...can get an extra battery too..

outlook wise, sony really win, but the design remain same for couples of years, kind of boring to the design dy... all T series look 99% / totally same... my fren wont use video function, so full HD or not doesnt really care...

tx9 hv background defocus function, don't know how real is that, from the commercial its totally amazing  drool.gif

but i know its 99% impossible  biggrin.gif

3 models i shortlisted for her now, canon 300hs (my top suggestion), tx9 (only if background defocus really works), and tx5(like its waterproof)  nod.gif
*
haha. how different you want it to be? all DSLRs also look the same what. the main objective for the T series is slim, funky and easy to bring around. background defocus only works well if you are shooting ONE subject. if there are a lot of focus points, the camera might get confused and simply blur. laugh.gif

QUOTE(Jurlique @ Dec 22 2010, 09:26 AM)
Between Nex-5 and DSLR, both are good and have different characteristics. Just search for the difference online.
Depends what you need? Are you willing to carry a brick inside a backpack for photography or just carry a handphone size camera inside your pocket for ease of mind?
*
with the 18-55mm...it doesn't really feel like a handphone lo..cannot put in my pocket also sweat.gif

QUOTE(asfiezul @ Dec 22 2010, 09:27 AM)
@chiahau: yeah..rite? but still.. i've read better not go for a sony alpha dslr cuz they might not continue with dslr and focus on nex.. Canon or nikon is no problem for me but.. there am i again.. confuse whether i should go for a dslr or nex instead... sigh..

Added on December 22, 2010, 9:38 am@Jurlique: i've search some of them on the net.. but most of the comment are like fanboys(either hate it or love it too much)..

plus, from what i've collected:

ease of use: nex
quality of pic : draw or some mid-end dslr or all high end dslr
learning curve: nex
customisation: dslr
full control : dslr

but how about future proof(from lens price, accessory and variability)?
*
try not to read too much of those internet comments which are mostly trolls. one small problem and they usually make it like its the end of the world. the bolded part is soooo not true. my advise is, go to the camera shop and test these few cameras and then only u decide.

and by the way, you can get full controls and customisation(set the settings if that's what you meant) on NEX as well.

I mean Nex-5 lol...
Otherwise, you may consider EPL-1 also if you need PnS with DSLR qualities.
*
please try and put a NEX-5 with a 18-55mm lens on it into your pocket, see whether it can fit or not, and then get back to me. laugh.gif

QUOTE(asfiezul @ Dec 22 2010, 12:00 PM)
you totally make me wanna buy the nex now.. lol..
i am really considering on buying the nex 5~ hurm.. so, which package is okay? 18-55mm or the dual lens? i read some good reviews on 18-55mm but not so much for the pancake 16mm.. The pancake is just for portability right? No extra effect on picture?
*
get both lens la. yes the pancake is more for is portability and POCKET-ABILITY. the IQ of the pancake is somewhat not as good la. however, not as good doesn't means its not good!
