I just passed my ORAE today. Have been interested with HAM since schooling time and finally took the exam.
I need two Class A assignment holders to be my reference.

If you have a yaesu fusion digital radio, you could try 9M2RKL. It is linked to wiresx network and you can join any available rooms.

this yaesu fusion I believe is on HF and expensive, will just wait for more echolink repeaters so that I don't have to spend so much for HF band radios.

Yaesu Fusion is just a digital encoding regardless of band. The RAKL repeater is on UHF. I think around RM 1500 can get one.

Yes, as aminpro said, Yaesu Fusion is not HF, it is a hybrid analog/digital system. You can work the 9M2RKL either on FM or C4FM (digital). If you've ever monitor 9M2RKL, you do sometime hear a white noise coming from the repeater. The white noise is actually not QRM but someone on C4FM (digital) having conversation either locally or linked/internationally linked.

With additional Wires-X system, you can have the repeater to be connected to the world-wide Wires-X system and have a conversation with other people on other repeaters across the globle. Just like what you can do with echolink. You can control the node system using menu driven selection (echolink can be controlled using DTMF).

There are two such repeaters here in Klang Valley and both are from MARTS. 9M2RUK is a VHF repeater located at Genting and 9M2RKL is on UHF and located at Bukit Lanjan. 9M2RKL is connected 24/7 in digital mode to Wires-X network. However 9M2RUK is not currently connected to Wires-X but hopefully we can have it soon, probably an analog mode.

As per the radio pricing, we hope Yaesu could introduce a much lower priced Fusion transceiver. As far as I know, there is only one VHF mobile Fusion rig which priced under 1K. A dual band FTM100DR cost around RM1500. Upcoming FT70DR probably cost less.

And there will be more ... We're going to introduce DMR too! But time will tell when we'll have it up and running. This DMR repeaters will be connected to the DMR network worldwide too.
