it's the basic one... see, with it, you should have quite modern tones, slightly cold and straight. a bit more oriented for metal, and modern rock. but you can play anything with it. the look is rather ... "conventionnal".
why do you like gibson ? for the shape ? or the tone ? which tone would you like to have ?
if you more into classic rock/blues, a telecaster or a stratocaster might more be it, the look is more vintage, along with the overall tone.
btw, a telecaster will give you an special look... kind of cool for a girl, i'd say.

^ yes they are.a made in mexico one can set u back 2k over. they are good guitars nonetheless, but at this stage , i dont think you shld splash on one. unless u go for the squiers. which are less than 1k. but then again, at that price, why not go for a SX? most beginners just have to have their first ibanez/fender/squier/ep at double the price of what they can get for an Sx.

ok, i may sound totally biased there. just like everyone else here recommending their own gear. tongue.gif pretty funny huh when u ask for opinions here.

well, the china made guitars that make copies of teles strats lps is indeed SX. and i speak less for biassness of my newly acquired Sx tele for 430, but more for the economical and value for money sense here. Its a guitar you wld be keeping in the long run, at least i know i will. upgrades and mods, wont take the price more than 1.2-1.5k. that hasnt even reached a fender's price..and just over a basic squier. basically, ur paying for a no nonsense guitar. you hv to get it set up well tho. smile.gif

and yes, its okay if you still want a squier or fender. smile.gif http://www.sxguitarspain.com

whoa...the Sx site is quite a killer... don't know that they actually produce so much different kinds of guitars... mockingbirds...explorers... what is the shop here that sells SX guitars? do they have models other than the usual Strat n LP copy?? they should, if they're really good like what people said.

Nick(and all those who owne SX guitars...) I would like to ask if all SX guitars are consistently good?? I'm tempted to get one already... laugh.gif

Noel Gallagher you mean? He's actually using Epiphones... a sub-divison of Gibsons which makes them in Korea, which technically makes them cheaper.

If you check the forums, you would know that I'm the biggest Gibson/Epiphone supporter here..... Les Pauls in particular.

Since you like the look of the Les Paul, why don't you get the SX clone of it? I hear it's pretty good.... anyone out here tried a Les Paul SX clone?

yeah, as blacktrix said, woh fatt brings in Sx's. but as far as i saw only the vintage tele's/strats and the black poison series. (SG's Lp's...) the lp clones, im not so sure if they bring in. you can call them up, but beware, they can be kinda cold with their 'customer service' tongue.gif

quarantined, i hv only owned my tele copy for a few weeks, so i cant say if its consistently good. i dont really know what u mean by consistently good too, as guitars, over time, the set up 'runs' from the original..and requires set ups and maintainence. and this can happen to any guitar. essentially, guitars that are well built in the first place should be able to last a long time. smile.gif

oh wait, what am i talking here. did u mean by every unit is consitently the same quality? according to bassraptor (whom i bought mine from) , the quality can get quite random. so it would be advisable if you pay attention when picking out your Sx...

i guess other more experienced ppl who own Sx's can give your better advice. smile.gif

hmm, i don't really know where's that place but, anyway, think it should be alright if i ask around.

besides than sx, i went over to mv the other day, and i saw a guitar shop at the cinema level. the one on the upper level..according to the guitar store sales person, he said that the guitars they selling is their own brand. but i forgotten wat's the name of the brand. has anyone heard of tat or maybe tested the guitar? is it by anyhow good? or maybe something like the sx ones?

Hahaha..... Guitar Collection you mean? If you want, come at 11.45 on Sundays.... that's when I finish my lessons there.... But don't think would be much help as the guitars that can be tested there are either way over your budget or totally not worth it..... read on.

The 2 brands that they bring in are ESP/LTD (YUMMY!!!) and Pyramid (YUCKY!!!)......

I've tried most of their ESPs and LTDs and they sound amazing..... but I don't think they fit into your 500 budget. The Pyramid's are really horrible sounding and not even worth 500 bucks.......

So far I think SX are your best budget choice. I remembered someone just recently owning an SX Les Paul clone...... can probably ask them about it.

SX is definitely worth it .. but find a guitar that you really like the design.. cause sometimes all these not so important thing -> design + brand... might become a very important thing to u when u play a guitar..
because u r holding a guitar u like in term of design and brand.. no matter the branded guitar's quality might be bad than SX... but it gives u the feeling of playing.. and u can anytime go upgrade by changing pick ups..... etc...

But if you really don't mind that, SX is really a good choice for u... They have Strat copy.. LP copy... I wish to own a SX Les Paul Black Beauty someday.. it somehow look very very nice...

Btw, anyone here can gives comment about the Laney HCM 30watt AMP??? It costs RM550 here in Malacca...

What do you guys think about? Comparing to 800+ Roland Cube.. and Marshall MG 30W
