The Emotional Highbury and The Grand Ashburton Grove

Highbury 1913-2006

For the majority of their time in south-east London, Arsenal played at the Manor Ground in Plumstead, a three-year period at the nearby Invicta Ground between 1890 and 1893 excepted. The Manor Ground was initially just a field, but the club installed stands and terracing in time for their first Football League match in September 1893. They played their home games there for the next twenty years (with two exceptions in 189495), until the move to north London in 1913.

Arsenal Stadium, widely referred to as Highbury, was Arsenal's home from September 1913 until May 2006. The original stadium was designed by the renowned football architect Archibald Leitch, and had a design common to many football grounds in the UK at the time, with a single covered stand and three open-air banks of terracing. In the 1930s, the entire stadium was given a massive overhaul, with new Art Deco West and East stands constructed, opening in 1932 and 1936 respectively; in addition, the North Bank terrace had a roof added, which was later bombed during World War II and not restored until 1956.

At its peak, Highbury could hold over 60,000 spectators, and had a capacity of 57,000 until the early 1990s. The Taylor Report and Premier League regulations forced Arsenal to convert Highbury into an all-seater in time for the 199394 season, reducing the capacity to 38,419 seated spectators. This capacity had to be reduced further during Champions League matches to accommodate additional advertising hoardings, so much so that for two seasons (199899 and 199900) Arsenal played Champions League home matches at Wembley, which could house more than 70,000 spectators.

Final moments - the emotions run high in Highbury

Ashburton Grove 2007-present

Expansion of Highbury was restricted because the East Stand had been designated as a Grade II listed building and the other three stands were close to residential properties. These limitations have prevented the club from maximising the revenue that their domestic form could have brought in recent seasons. After considering various options, in 2000 Arsenal proposed building a new 60,000-seater stadium at Ashburton Grove, since renamed the Emirates Stadium, about 500 metres south-west of Highbury. The project was initially delayed by red tape and rising costs, but construction was completed in July 2006, in time for the start of the 200607 season. The stadium is named after its sponsors, the airline company Emirates, with whom the club signed the largest sponsorship deal in English football history, worth approximately 100 million; however some fans refer to the ground as Ashburton Grove, or the Grove, as they do not agree with corporate sponsorship of stadium names. The stadium will be officially known as Emirates Stadium until at least 2012, and the airline will be the club's shirt sponsor until the end of the 201314 season.

ALI sells new 10/11 BPL shirt around RM200++...if RM169 either new season BPL or last season shirt...i got for myself last year AFC Away (Blue) L/S shirt from ALI for RM169...

why don't you search in Bulk Thread...look for nimrod2 or lit ching IIRC... highly recommended for authentic football shirt...those AAA shirts doesn't you justice....  smile.gif

QUOTE(ben3003 @ Nov 20 2010, 08:44 AM)
becos that one need to import, kinda fussy and also around rm200+. rm169 is that training jersey? Becos i saw the material is different, if the rm259 one got like ventilation holes at the jersey while rm169 dont have, probably rm169 is more like a shirt than a real jersey they wear for football.

QUOTE('62jaguar @ Nov 20 2010, 09:09 AM)
I recall something

last time i was at ALI...I saw 2 kinds of arsenal home shirt...one is replica shirt (not what the players wear, intended for fans)...these are RM230++...made in thailand...original Nike

another version is the so call 'kick off' version...IIRC I haven't seen ALI
selling this kind of Arsenal shirt...made in China...original Nike...but with cotton-like materials...still have the distintive feature of the replica shirt but with some tiny tweaks...take it as football shirt with t-shirt quality stuff...

but then again, i'm not sure if we are talking about the same thing (AFC shirt at RM169)...i think you're better off buying the replica shirt...forget about those training or 'kick off' version..

yes, buying from those guys need to import etc...but still saves you a few bucks... just my 2 cents... smile.gif

Will anyone be watching the match in Subang Jaya?

I'm attending company dinner in Grand Dorsett Subang Hotel and then will be traveling to Melaka.

Thinking to drop-by somewhere near to watch the match before heading to Melaka biggrin.gif

IF not, can fellow members recommend where to watch this great match in Subang Area? (I only know where is Sunway Pyramid tongue.gif )

Kim Hoong, you can try Asia Cafe very near to Taylors & Inti College.

If I'm not mistaken, there is always a group of Arsenal supporters there.

Or, you can try McD, both the drive through or the one behind Starbucks, which is also walking distance to Asia Cafe.

Problem with asia cafe area is very difficult to find parking and the area is quite jam with slow moving cars.

BTW, if you are attending company dinner, the match starts at 8:45pm and I think you can only manage to see the 2nd half if you are lucky.

There is one mamak shop opposite Dorsett Subang. They have several big TVs and always have the matches on.

i hope we can see gallas chasing the shadows of walcott tonight.
i have a feeling that this would be a high-tempo, high-scoring and a very intense match.

rvp would most surely start from the bench.

You are right! My dinner starts at 6pm but you know-lah Malaysian style shocking.gif Most likely I only gonna catch up with the 2nd half.

Guess I'll just stick to the mamak stall opposite the hotel. It's the best bet without moving around looking for places and parking.

Line up is ok save for one position....Id personally prefer Robin/Tomasz Rosicky start ahead of Theo...having the luxury of introducing a fresh pacy Theo and the Russian magician early in 2nd half would just tear them down...

bale's crosses are very dangerous.
they are usually hard and low, which is very hard to deal with and vdv/pav will surely be around to tap it in.
i just hope no own goals will be scored by our defenders tonight.

oh btw, here's another funny clip i found.

bale's crosses are very dangerous.
they are usually hard and low, which is very hard to deal with and vdv/pav will surely be around to tap it in.
i just hope no own goals will be scored by our defenders tonight.

oh btw, here's another funny clip i found.

Fabianski Sagna Clichy Koscielny Squillaci Song Denilson Fabregas Nasri Arshavin Chamakh

Denilson had a solid game last time out and I think he makes Fabregas perform better as was witnessed in the 2nd half last time.

Its been a perfect game so far. Sagna has been skinned a couple of times, probably because of his yellow card, but kudos to Nasri helping in defense as well. I reckon the selection of Denilson ahead of Wilshere today is absolutely spot on by the Boss.

We look really solid at the back and going forward we look absolutely brilliant.

More of the same in the 2nd half please thank you very much.

keep the possession until 2 inch in front of goal. no urgency at all.
after the second goal, already playing slow. pass pass pass. and then sometimes try to through the ball in the opponent box.

2-0 already think can win. concede through set pieces again.
at 2-0 they play so slow. we deserve this.

How stupid is it, that time after time we lose or draw because of set pieces and yet there has been no improvement in this. I don't know if they don't train at it or what, but its getting to the point of being an embarassment.

No words can describe the performance. Gotta call it as I see it. Lately Capi has been way below par. Forget the penalty incident, but even when we were down 3-2, he was way too indecisive holding up the play.

i guess everybody has figured out arsenal...if u cant go through them...go over them...we're still in the hunt...but it's pitiful that we hv to rely on others to win anything...with chelsea hit with injury and man u is not in form....man...it's really pathetic...

Reminder of the future huh ? We've been having these reminders* for countless of times . Last season Wigan's game for example . The team just lack mentality , and would never get over it . My advice if you wants to support the current Arsenal , just take the matches with a pinch of salt . Only take it seriously when we really have the mentality overhaul .

It's not the first time Fabregas raised his hand when defending a free kick. Last season against Liverpool he did the same but he was lucky that day and the referee didn't give the penalty.

I seriously don't understand the need for that, it's so risky and a stupid way to give away a penalty vmad.gif vmad.gif

I thought we played pretty well, dominating and could have scored 3-4 more goals. Our forwards just couldn't convert them that's the problem doh.gif And one more thing, if the Captain is not playing well then he'll get substituted period. But instead it was Nasri who get off the pitch. *sigh*

i blame the 2 CB for the loss today. Both is like an idiot and yes i miss Vermaelan the no-nonsense man.

Clichy and Sagna did their best already to fight against 2 highly pacey winger. Sagna have no choice to avoid himself not having a red card. Clichy totally killed Lennon.

No new defender but please change the tactic to 4-4-2 and provide more cover to the back four. Current tactic give so much space at the middle.

It’s also worth noting that Djourou came out to play in the guests’ starting line-up again. What does it mean? Nothing, except that Arsenal have never lost with him playing.

Djourou probably has that physique on him which already cover up our incompetencies in free kick/air ball. In defence we probably need one of them Vermaelen/Djourou.

Koscielny is ok...But we can't afford to have a weak partnership in Free kicks/corners.

Maybe Arsene wants a bit of pace at the back. Koscielny can run faster than Djourou i think.
Still, it's silly to throw away a two goal lead like that.
All the goals came from nothing. OK maybe except the 3rd one which is a set piece and we usually suck at that.

Only ourselves to blame. Good lesson for gunners not to get complacent especially opponent like spurs.
Have to admit that needless penalty. What's with the hand? Shouldn't afraid to utilize your head fab. Only after the penalty he showed some urgency (probably thinking wrath of wenger in dressing room).

No intention to single out fab here. but he could have done better. Anyway, it's a team lost.

i never like it when le Boss played player straight back from injury into the 1st evelen. when he did that with players like Cesc, Robin or maybe TV or even Samir i can tolerate that because these players are the spine of our team. but to do it with Laurent is pushing it a little bit too far methink. maybe le Boss intended to give as much game as possible to Laurent for him to adapt faster to BPL pace. but do not la do it at the expense of us winning the match.

it's not like Johan-Seba partnership was doing bad either. in fact the partnership looks to be growing to something we can rely on, not what you can say for Seba-Laurent partnership

and re : kacang. i thought by now we all should have known better to not layan him

nothing much i can say. the first half is kinda impressive ,

we DONT need the hand to block the ball , nobody will know whether the free kick will enter or not YET.

watching it infront of my friend who are chelsea and man utd friend , they keep bashing the team but i cant do anything sad.gif

we saw two different arsenal today.
one in the 1st half and the other in the 2nd.
the 1st half arsenal were always chasing for the game, while the 2nd half arsenal are complacent.
this mentality is what kills us, our achilles heel.

and yeah, chamakh never shoots the ball. he likes to pass, whether into the net or to others.
we could've easily killed the game in the 1st half.

yeah,
fab pulled chamakh's hand.
i think that is to make the ref confused, so, no card issued since they shared the blame.
whatever it is, it's dumb.

Yet another lead before first half and lost after full time. It was Van persie's fault for the third goal. doh.gif Really really disappointing... i brought my clutches together and go all the way to wangsa maju to watch the match for a win... And we lost when we had the chance to lead this week.

that penalty was so so stupid2.
hurm i think wenger should give rosicky and v.persie play a lot.i think they are good in attacking
rosicky quite good to keep balls but midfielder quite a lot already .nasri, song and fabregas ..arshavin should go on the bench sometimes,he looks tired as always .

chamakh..i dun like his style of playing .i prefer v.persie who is more like attacking striker, chamakh likes to pass like a midfield

as usual, everytime arsenal are close ..they ended far ...

That is not the problem! The problem is as always...We led by 2-0 before half time and got beaten by 3 more goals at FT.... Can't we be anything but a gifter of 3 points to Tottenham AT HOME??? It is kinda pissed off to see a team leading 2-0 and lost at end.... Spurs really that type of goal scoring machine??? 3 goals in 2nd half is really God-Like and MU can hardly do it also.... But many teams did it against us easily.... Added this defeat to our Lost this season.

WBA 3-2
Chelsea 2-0
Newcastle 1-0
Spurs 3-2

Lost 3 at home.... doh.gif And this is what my MU friend said to me... Arsenal is easier to be beaten at home than away...stats showed that he is right and as long as our opponent can keep us at their grounds....we lost everything seriously.

arsenal are different a lot from last season and last 2 season

usually they will nver be beaten at home this easily

and they usually will score in the last minute if they are in trouble except againts man u.. .but
now is really2 diffrent ..

and if u notice,if arsenal are a goal down, they will control possesion and give pressure to oppenent but now different .and not much attacking

and in the last 4 minute of stoppage time, why did they play high long ball ?
they should play short pass as they used to.
long high ball will surely just give away the ball to the oppenent,
they hve a chance but i dunno why they shoot high, fabianski pass high,

Counter attacking (high balls AND fast ground balls) wasn't working because spurs wasn't attacking and they were already back there defending. nonetheless, we shouldn't have played high balls for the last four mins instead we should have played wide to the wing and drive the ball down low into the box (we didn't have tall strikers on the field at that time).

IMO, it's only logical to play long ball when you're chasing the game. just check any team/matches. it is always like that. you're hoping to counter attack your opponents that way.

Completely agree. This match outcome is really hard to swallow. If Arsenal ever think of winning anything, they have to throw away that complacency or no it would be season no.6 with nothing to show. To be honest, when I see the 1st 10 minutes of the 2nd half, I already had a bad vibe about us losing..turn out to be true sad.gif

1st 10 minute after 2nd half??? Nope...I felt something went wrong some minutes after our 2nd goal... They slowed the tempo down, Didn't show any will to compose more and more fast and deadly attacks....instead, they slowed down the tempo of the forward team.... went back to our usual bad habit....passing around without deadly strike even its nearby the goal....there are so many times even in the 1st half itself... if given Paul Scholes or Nani....They will not give a dam and strike it straight away....

After that all I did was hope Arsenal can keep up their pace and defend well in 2nd half....Turn out we are like pancut and no more energy....on the other hand.... They press us even harder, run faster than us, won over our tempo and attack at their will. I just can't see how Van Persie failed to defend the third goal... That is so vital when he missed it....and Fabregas...speechless.... dro to a form that not only negate himself but burden the whole team.

Woi arsenal!!! Where is the spirit la it is a derby game and a chance to top the table but when nasri and chamak score the goal you see only 1 or 2 player running to celebrate the goal the other just walking. Come on arsenal our squad is quite big this year if can't win the premier league pls bring home the champions league.

I guess I was on a high after the 2nd goal thus I didn't really notice it then tongue.gif But our over-elaborate play is really frustrating. and the crowd...became near to drop dead silence after the 1st goal from Spurs..the worst/good part for me? I sat behind the goal area where the 5 goals had been scored..damn happy then become damn mad..Van Persie's failure was frustrating, but I find the penalty conceded was the worst of the pack doh.gif

doesn't matter i find it funny too actually. not much funny moment can be found in a football game so as just a normal football fan i kinda treasure the moment when i have good laugh with the whole mamak.

doesn't matter i find it funny too actually. not much funny moment can be found in a football game so as just a normal football fan i kinda treasure the moment when i have good laugh with the whole mamak.

Anyway, home form improve Arsenal must.

saw the game when we were 2-1 up. we looked dangerous actually, UNTIL wenger decided to sub off samir freakin nasri for tomas freakin rosicky. i mean, why sub off ur best player for someone who offers similar style but not in a better form than the former? i do not comprehend that move at all. macha for rvp, i guess rvp's more capable of a special moment than macha, but heck in games when we look out of sorts i would have preferred we try more crosses and headers.

i thought we conceded 2 soft goals. cesc NEEDLESSLY raised his and macha's hand, which was another bewildering moment in the game. vdv wasnt likely to miss from the spot. the third goal is from a rather benign header, fabianski can do better than that, the defense can do better than that. i guess all i can say is that they took their chances well and we were left ruing our missed chances.

good news, chelsea messed up too. bad news manutd picking up momentum.

This season is probably our worst home record in 10 seasons. We already lost 3 home games.

ffs, I was so frustrated after we lost. But feel much much much better now since chelski lost as well (even though manu won). It isn't too bad since we are just 2 points behind them.

AW, time to get new players!

fabregas is now a changed player. Bad temper, always protesting referee's decision, made few dangerous tackles/challenges in the last few games, immature acts (like he did in the penalty box yesterday), throughout this season. His behaviour can certainly costs us the title.
I think he's getting frustrated with his current form and his dream of going back to barca seems swept away.

walcott...seems to lose his confidence and therefore made several bad decisions in front of goal.

chamakh and arshavin, they both needed a rest after playing almost every single game this season. Arsene, pliz start with RVP and Rosicky instead.....

---------------Fabianski--------------
Sagna------Squillaci---Koscielny----Clichy
----------------Song------------------
-----Fabregas-----------Wilshere--------
Nasri------------RVP--------------Rosicky

This.

It's not like it is the end of April already. Have faith in your team. I believe that the race is still wide open. 2 pts are nothing. Heck, both United and Arsenal managed to close the gap with Chelsea before Xmas. They were leading by how many pts back then?

So, cheers.

If not Fab?.. Can we get the 2 goals we scored?..
To be honest, they ball hit them when they try to defend.. A split of second.. We fall as a team.. Don't u think the 2nd half all players like lost?

A lost for Chelsea give us hope, at least gap still remain the same

Added on November 21, 2010, 8:16 amThis season, any team can drop pts, u see Birmingham can have miracle, not to disrespect others but last time big team only drop pts against each other

Now, there is so many big team.. So 2 PTA.. We can catch them

Chill up guys, frustration is always there when we were 2-0 up and losing 3-0. I think our lads got a lil carried away and instead of controlling the game, we wanted more. Well, this is Arsenal, we play the best football on earth, and now you know why we fans will pay to watch Arsenal play. We stick to our own principal, if thats was another team which was 2-0, i'm pretty sure they'l be more defensive minded than we are.
Its just the end of November, and like Alien pointed out, United and Arsenal, we manage to close the 8 point gap we had earlier this season when some of us fans gave up.

Arsenal has United to play for and United has Chelsea to play for. Looking at the current situation, we have a fairly stronger side, just lack of a little more enthusiastic. Give Fabregas a break, this lad been playing non stop since WC, and also was injured for sometime. He'l get back his form, i'm sure of it.

PS : I respect Bolton. Look at where they are now. Few seasons back, they were in relegation battle, and now, they are smashing teams, for instance, Newcastle.

chelsea lost. unbelievable. having said that, if we won we are top now.

anyway, how many times can we get away with this.

the feeling of losing 3-0, and losing 3-2 when we lead at 2-0 is totally different la.

mang.... i think i need to buy home jersey la. Since i bought the away jersey, our away form has been good. hahahah i think i jinx the team.

anyway, chelsea lost.... maintain gap.... but manU won. Well... that's football. Honestly, being 2 up last nite didn't give me any assurance. Song look shaky, same with Koci. plus i don't understand why Jack didn't start ahead of denilson. Halo boss.... it's spurs.... put ur best team on la. Djourou and Laci seems to be getting along very well + Djourou would cancel out Paly/Crouch physicality.

i think for sure... sagna got burnt... huhuhuhu... We should've release Walcott earlier.

oh well..

captain's getting desperate. he's not playing the good guy anymore, he's getting in tackles, getting hot tempered, getting impatient, cheating (yes i am saying this) to win, trying to influence the referee into getting his way... i dunno. i predict cesc won't be the same anymore, and i think we're getting the best of cesc for another 2 years. if we still havent won anything by then it will be like keeping henry at his last year here. impatience.

still, i have no idea why wenger brought out our best player samir nasri out for tomas rosicky, who is a similar style of player but the former is in a better form than the latter. absolutely bewildered.

Omg... Just a match I can't believe you all can say those word to fabregas. Seriously without fab I think you all really lack of direction in attacking. Still remember the first half where he rip apart tots with his through pass? It just a moment of madness for him to raise hand in penalty box. But if he don't raise it will hit chmakah hand too. I bet you all will be crying for him If fab is out Injured. He is a captain and have to stand in to challenge the ref. That make him looks like hot temper. If you all do not like to see him with more responsibility. Then make others as captain.

I din say anything bad about Fab, I just want to be fair. First half is first half, 2nd half is 2nd half...if he started to play bad, he'll be subbed too period. Don't drag the whole team into his gameplay.

Interesting . I think the captaincy should be handed to others indeed . Vermalen would be the top candidate . By doing this , Cesc will have less responsibility and be focused more on his game . Could work , who knows .

thats football for you

the game is not over, not until the referee blow the final whistle

the moment we are 2-0 up we become naive to think that the game is over

and i can't believe that we repeat the same mistake again, self destruct sad.gif

you should know what i mean if you watch the game... no urgency, didn't control the game fully and we paid the price

our winning mentality is not strong enough IMHO

but on the brighter side, chelsea lost again

Absolutely. I've got more shit going on this week than mull over a loss.

The good thing is we're still within touching distance of Chelsea, and there's still a fair gap of 4 points between us and the remaining chasing pack.

The frustrating part however would be how the fk we managed to throw away the lead. We were 2-0 up easily and still let them come back into the game to win it. The quality of the team is there as we know it; we can rip teams apart easily whenever we play well, but if we cannot keep the concentration and intensity for the full match we're always going to waste points like these.

agree on this.the loss is painful to watch but that's it.we still have lots of game to play.doesn't matter whether it's a derby match or not,we need to move on and take one game at a time.

now is the crucial moment.

almost everything is unpredictable nowadays.... mighty chelsea lost two in a row...arsenal lost when we are leading at home ground....manchester united have drawn almost half of their games...multi million man city is also struggling....

yesterday was a sad day for me...but hey it's the end of the world...wouldn't care what other would say

'it'll be another disappointing season for Arsene Wenger...'

'I think better you just burn your shirt...or do you have another extra shirt in your car? better change lah...'

'ArSENGAL lose...ahahahahah'

do I give a damn? hell not....
we're still in it....keep your faith...and things will be alright...

we definitely need more tall defenders at the back or else there's no way we can compete. the average height of tottenham players were taller than our players' average height. we need another vermaelan or gallas.

my bad, i was really sure that Cesc taking Marouane's hand along with his from the live telecast. but still, it was not an action you expected; more so from your captain

Last season or last two season, Cesc raise his arm in similar free kick situation to block the ball and it went unpunished.
As for the last game I still believe Cesc was taking Chamakh hand and Chamakh just go along with it. I hope I'll see no more of it from now on.

Damn, mentally we still not up for it. sad.gif

We played like a different team in the 2nd half, that was the only explanation I can give. It was as if the whole team was replaced at half time, & Spurs put in one guy & it made the difference. We had several sitters we didn't convert & paid for it later.

I never question any Arsenal players mentality when playing on the pitch. Everyone on the pitch wishes to win for the team. No player would go onto the pitch wishing the team to lose.

However, I do agree that the 2nd half was bad to us: 1st goal was bad decision-making for leaving your CD position to challenge the ball (and fail). 2nd goal was a split second immaturity of our captain (and Chamakh too?) for lifting hands. 3rd goal... haiz... I don't know how to comment on that doh.gif

As the captain of the team, Fabregas owns us an apology. We all know he did not mean it; but the fact is that it has happened and it was all about his hand.

Once again and I wish everyone is the same too, I do not question any Arsenal players whenever they are playing for the club. This is the minimum faith that every fans should have smile.gif

I think that it's human natural reaction to lift their hand to block something coming to their HEAD.
That's what Fabregas has been arguing with the referee during the match.
But still, I don't think that it is necessary. Fabregas should be brave like Song. /salute to Song. smile.gif

IMO, second half was really bad for Arsenal. I was praying for them to wake up in the second half. sweat.gif
Consistency is still our main concern.
Just hope fellow gunners can learn from this mistake and be stronger in the upcoming matches.
(Just how many chances they need to learn? rclxub.gif)

KEEP YOUR FAITH IN AW AND ARSENAL!

Er, i tot players that formed the wall, normally put their hands to cover their private parts, not their heads.

On the comical part, my little bro did cheer me up by saying :-

Cesc & Chamakh : nah smell my smelly armpits

VDV : too bad, i'm having block nose.

Shooting the ball ? It's not the Arsenal way la... we score thru these means :

1. Make 1000 passes before putting the ball into the net, OR
2. Make 500 passes, but then U MUST pass the ball into the net, OR
3. When all else fails, THEN shoot the ball

I know Nasri, Song, Arshavin & Fabregas have scored thru shots on goal... but then, it's not the Arsenal way & shudn't have counted...

Remember when our fans behind the goal used to scream SHOOOOOOOOOOOOOT !!!!

No offence to anyone... just stating the obvious...

agreed with you. can do short pass, but not doing it EXCESSIVELY and blend it with shooting the ball if necessary.

Yes they do have the mentality to win , but not the "Never say die" idea implanted . That's the way to win titles , like United players had . The difference is very obvious through body languages and playing style .

The never say die attitude push and press the opponents no matter the scorelines , not the so called mentality to win that sit comfortably and get cocky with a 2-0 lead .

*
The problem is , passion is slowly decaying from certain players , compared to last season . I remembered we didn't give up till the end in most of the games last season , with Bendter scoring few match winning goals . Doesn't happens now , after we lost any lead or conceded, the team played shockingly bad .

Alrite , enough with the negativity . All hope isn't lost , AW and the team just need to sort something out , I hope .

it is a good lesson for the lads to understand not to take it for granted, even with 2 goal leading.

lets the lads act like a man to stand up and bounce back on next game.

btw despite the loss, why nobody mentioned about Nasri 1st goal? what a tight angle and i must say the goal is deserve to be named as goal of the week smile.gif

yeah it's not easy to slot the ball into the net with such tight angle. Somemore i think Nasri already lost his balance but still manage to trigger his foot, that is not easy you know thumbup.gif

And Chamakh's goal just remind me of Drogba's goal against us...a bit lucky flick sweat.gif i bet Chamakh also quite surprise there is a goal, you can see his face looks a bit blur blur, only rejoice when the teammate hug him tongue.gif

The penalty - yes. It is an amateur mistake from Fabregas & Chamakh to raise their hand above their head while building the wall.

Free kick - maybe. It is a decent cross and very hard to predict the ball while in the air. Everybody fighting each other to head the ball so very hard to say that is predictable and can clear the ball well. Although our players should be blame for not man-marking the opponents well, but somehow, this kind of set pieces got so many ppl inside the penalty box so even you defend well also might leak the goal accidentally.

Wenger should starting bottles in the dressing room right in front of the bunch of players that let the club, him & the fans down.

Hopefully one of the bottles will hit someone and then they realise the pain we all felt when they lost at home AGAIN!

Throwing bottles and showing anger to the fans and the camera man is not good enuf to the players.

seriously i hope AW can try Djourou + Squillaci partnership back.

I think Koscienly still struggling to cope with BPL physical challenge. I'm not saying that he is the main cause of our lose, but as few matches back the previous partnership is starting to grow in form and why break it up?

And also should give more playing time to V. Persie. At least subbed him earlier like 60 over mins and so on let him gain back his momentum...

LOL i found out an interesting facts tongue.gif

Whenever opponent that won Arsenal during that weekend BPL, their next BPL game sure will suffer loss/ draw and can't manage a win laugh.gif

25/9/2010 Arsenal 2-3 West Brom
2/10/2010 West Brom 1-1 Bolton

3/10/2010 Chelsea 2-0 Arsenal
16/10/2010 Aston Villa 0-0 Chelsea

7/11/2010 Arsenal 0-1 Newscastle
10/11/2010 Newcastle 1-2 Blackburn

20/11/2010 Arsenal 2-3 Tottenham
28/11/2010 Tottenham ?-? Liverpool

So Tottenham will be the latest victim? draw or lose in their next match? tongue.gif

P/S: just for LOL to cheers up your guys who so upset for the recent defeat laugh.gif

Glad to know you spirit is still high but it's fading off as the time pass by. This team is not capable of winning EPL cause lack of maturity, consistency & winning mentality.

The title hope was already over after their lost to Chelsea. Now better to focus on winning Carling Cup. Atleast there is something to be proud of.

AGAIN Arsenal self-destruct!! Learn from Chelsea & MU on how to win big games.

no fabs is ok... but denilson there? i'd rather have wilshere-rosicky-song at mid with walcott-bendtner-nasri up top.

i think for CL games, koci is more suitable than djorou as CL doesn't require strength much.plus,he needs more match confidence after the red card and his foul that leads to spurs' third goal.

with denilson there, wilshere can take cesc's job and stay up instead of doing defensive job.this game can be consider as an indicator whether we're ready for life without cesc or not.and nasri needs a rest too after having series of good game.

actually im not worried about whether we can make it to the next round or not.i wrote it like that because those guys have been underperforming so far.give them a rest during mid-week makes me anticipating on the weekend's match.

Agreed with one point of sickx.
Our players need rest. Our last match is on saturday and I don't think our players can regain full fitness on tomorrow match.
We can't possibly start with our strongest starting 11 in all matches in all competitions.
Players are not robots. sweat.gif

I'm fine with rotation of key players, especially when playing away.

Players like Fabregas and Arshavin should be rested. I am surprised that AW does not rest Song; considering Wilshere and Denilson are there.

Arsenal Complete Signing of “New Cristiano Ronaldo”

rclxms.gif

Arsenal have completed the signing of Ryo Miyaichi, a 17-year-old Japanese wonderkid touted as being the “new Cristiano Ronaldo”.

The signing will go through in December 2010, though the youngster will not be able to make the switch until he is granted a work permit to compete in the English Premier League.

The paperwork for his work permit is reportedly completed and submitted, with Arsenal simply waiting on confirmation before bringing the player to North London.

If his work permit cannot be granted with immediate effect, Arsenal are set to agree a deal with Salamanca, whereby the player would play for the Spanish side until he fulfilled the criteria that made him eligible to compete in the Premier League.

I rather that the media does not dub him as anyone else. Just let him be himself and play.

fan story on the podcast:

"...I got to my stop, and some Sp*rs fan started singing the "Van der Faart" song. I asked how old he was, and he said, "48." I said, "I'm 18, I've already seen Arsenal win the League 3 times." He had no response."

Here's some info i got from OptaJoe:

"Arsenal have now gone 14 Champions League away games without a clean sheet. Vulnerable."

Let's hope we'll be able to beat braga and start keeping clean sheets as well....

Yeah, we shoul start again by keeping clean sheet as well, hopefully will improve starting on tonight match,
wink.gif

latest news from the emirates, Clichy, RVP, Arshavin, will rule out for the match tonight, clichy have a problems due to his back bone injury, together with Vermaelen and others who was already in the injury lists. Btw, RVP wasnt so fit and Arshavin has been given some rest, hopefully we can perform without this key players tonight. nod.gif

I seriously don't know what Arsene is thinking. Just yesterday during the pre-match conference he was going on about how careful we have to be with Cesc and there he goes playing him today and now Cesc has done his hammy. I don't usually doubt the Boss but the decision to play Cesc today is absolutely baffling given how aware Arsene was of his injury.

If there is a player i would be impress, it is definitely Gibbs. He is super solid in defending, very tricky in attacking and i believe he already surpass Clichy and he looks like the last season Maicon just not the size.
