QUOTE(kanelee @ Nov 27 2010, 10:52 PM) Haha you r there too?nice Yeah. It was my first and last EPL match then, since Pompey got relegated. Sigh. Yup, I bet when they are back in the EPL i wont be in Pompey anymore too lol. Nice spirit aite, though relegated, getting themselves to the FA Cup Final was quite an achievement I'd rather spend it somewhere else than pay for silver membership |

QUOTE(little_mozart @ Nov 28 2010, 07:53 AM) tq kane Chamakh is doing what Robin was doing for us last season before he went off injured. He's either scoring goals himself or playing others into scoring positions, and I just can't help but think what Robin could have done for us had he not been so unlucky with injuries. bte chmakh has 10 goals this season rite? and its only november we found 20 goals per season player again? But anyway, some opinions on the game yesterday... missed the first half hence didn't get to see Bobby in action. 1. This is probably one of Arshavin's best display. Quick feet, inventive passing, lovely turns and tricks. However he can be quite frustrating at times as the squandered a few chances where a team mate was free to receive a pass but Andy himself went for glory and either blasted the ball over the top or got tackled. Still, this is the Arshavin that we want to see week in week out, not the lazily jogging version. 2. Nasri was awesome as well, but his stamina or rather the lack of it sometimes cause him to fade during late parts of a match. Still nowhere near Fabregas's playmaking abilities but I would rather see Samir utilise his strengths as an attacking winger/wide forward rather than sitting deep and spraying passes which Fabs/Andy/Tommy are better suited to do. 3. Chamakh - how can you not love him? He's a combination of Robin's deep lying central attacking skills and Adebayor's physical prowess; without the former's fragility and the latter's arrogance. He has a nasty streak to him as well as he knows when to kick others, execute cynical fouls, or attract others to foul him; nasty... but a nice change to our "soft underbelly" reputation. 4. The midfield combination doesn't seem too balanced. Song's transformation into a box to box player often leaves the defence exposed, and the other players need to learn when to drop back and cover him when he bombs forward. Both Jack and Tommy tend to stay upfront yesterday, and in the second half it was evident that Villa were trying to exploit this by launching 50 yard lobs to Carew. It wasn't Jack's best performance but he's no Fabregas despite being better than most 18 year old English players. 5. Ashley Young... meh, not impressed at all. Good player yes, but I'll take Theo Walcott any day. 6. Defence is still shaky. Both Clichy and Bak were easily caught out and required Kos and Laci to bail them out. Our current two central defenders is an interesting issue - Personally I think Kos is the better individual but he tends to make more spectacular and potentially-fatal mistakes; Laci is more consistent but he rarely does anything fancy or last ditch saves. This is where JD comes into the equation - JD's athleticism and physical attributes give him a certain advantage over the two, and I think Kos-JD or Laci-JD is the way to go although le Boss seems wanting to try Laci-Kos combination more than anything else. Nevertheless, one of the solutions would be making sure our defensive midfielder (not necessarily Song, but any one of the three that stays back when the other two are attacking) becomes our third CB when our wingbacks are up front. 7. This season is definitely the most interesting one. No one team has a huge advantage so far, and every team seems capable of dropping points to any other "lesser" team. It's amazing to know that after our disastrous losses which apart from Chelsea we should have won all the other games, we're still very much in the hunt. 8. Yesterday's win is a much needed boost to our team as well as the fans, and if any Arsenal fan doesn't regain any faith in our team's abilities, maybe he/she should stop watching Arsenal |
