It's all about supplement and nutrient timing. Bcaa's, hydrolysed whey, regular whey isolate, casein, waxy maize, all have their place. Whey and dextrose now isn't sufficient enough anymore, especially in my line of work and lack of sleep/recovery time. We should train together again jamis, I've progressed a lot more. The 225 lbs for shoulder pressing I used to have, I press it easy now AFTER pre exhausting with 50lbs db laterals. =P

Explain this. When you talk shit about a supplement company, you better show links and facts to back it up.

I found that myofusion choc milk smells and tastes like a very mild milo.. looks like milo powder too rclxms.gif

Btw, how do u guys measure per scoop? What qualify as 1 scoop? I used those chinese red spoon used to drink soup and per scoop only carries about 10grams of powder... the tub says 36grams per scoop, meaning i have to pour 3 scoops of powder in my soup spoon so that it counts as one serving.

The amount of water i mix in doesnt matter right? As long as i down all the required amount of powder..

Its quite a nice feeling, to find that scoop... kinda feel like an accomplishment all by itself doh.gif How does Myofusion's taste compare to ON 100% whey??

Thinking of trying ON next time, because its cheaper. But then 1 is whey and myofusion is a blend..

Heh... I used to fall into the trap of advertizing and funky names. Once you figure out the bare essentials, then add on synergistic supplements which cause a symbiotic effect with the essentials, bam! Growth. All my supps now emphasize recovery as priority first and foremost. And Muscletech ain't one of them!

You know why you don't need them. =) But you do know intraworkout supps can further increase performance even though you're on a cycle.

Shit I've just found out that the most recent Mr KL winner has been training with me on quite a few sessions. This Indian fella, cheeky but an extremely nice guy.

doh.gif thanks bro.

nod.gif Oh yea. i totally aware of that. but i just never made any good research on what product or brand i should explore in for the during workout supps. i've read once that the EAA(Essential Amino Acids) supps by coleseum or something is magical. but i dun know if that is even available in our region.

Bah! You're more lucky. I wasted a shitload of cash on ON Whey, just ON Whey for several years. I felt the damn difference when i started experimenting with intraworkout supps months ago. I'm getting a bit bored of extend. Probably looking into Purple Wrath next. Thank goodness for protein blends. Perfect for prebedtime for those of my profession with no time to even wipe my ass. Whey was too fast digesting, casein was too expensive, eggs were getting disgusting.

theres a lot of whey protein brands out there, and has been discussed to no end in this forum alone. do your research, know what you're buying. a lot of online sellers here that you can check out. read the reviews online and make your own decision based on the reviews and budget you aiming for.

to get you started, i would recommend ON Whey Double Choc, thats what I have been taking so far. No complaints here ^^

I'm figuring out between sticking to Xtend intraworkout/Glycergrow by Controlled Labs or SizeOn. Most likely it'll be Purple Wrath. Current stack is:-

Nutrex Muscle Infusion Black
Scivation Xtend
Universal Torrent
Hemorage/White Flood (my sis uses the latter)
Animal Pak

Cycled off NO2 for 4 days already so I need all the aid from
supps I can get. Figured I've covered pre, intra and pwo.

lol, is a good pick bro those EAA and that animal pak is abit pricey i m still considering if i m going to take anavite after this or take some MLM's multivitamin XD. Anyway, i love Animal pak for the reason that it has grape seed extract, great antioxidant.

This morning i just realize the label on my Xtend, 160 -180lbs, u got to take 4 scoops (split it in half in the morning and the other half intra) and another 2 scoop post workout, tats like freaking 6 scoops and 6 scoops if u r 180 above. Dayum. I gona stick with intra only eventhou my NO doesnt have any bcaa XD.

Depends. If your daily nutrition is in order, you don't need to sip Xtend during the day. I was in medical and I needed to do that. But now in orthopaedics it's better and drinking blends or mrp's will help in positive nitrogen balance. 3-4 scoops intra is fine.

So how does Purple Wratch compare to Xtend?

It was quite long ago i tried purple wraath, but the experience was good. If u were to compare this two,i felt that Xtend do provides me with a better endurance thou but i didnt take any NO with my purple wraath last time so... cant really tell the core effect of purple wraath hehe. One thing bad about purple wraath, u dont know the exact amount of bcaa, malate and etc in the supplement sad.gif

Controlled Labs' products have always been pretty solid, just a tad expensive. White Flood doesn't stand out in terms of energy spikes but it gives unbelievable pumps. I took some from my sister's stack. Let's see if Purple Wrath works.

Guys, does it a good idea to mix casein and whey together? Planning to buy ON casein and whey to replace my myofusion. Reasoning is i think i can control the ratio of casein and whey like before bedtime, i can put more casein than whey and vice versa after training. Right now i only use myofusion. sad.gif

Yeah, agree. Tried whiteflood before as well, i prefer superpump250 over it and now i m using SAN Fierce, the focus is seriously there and the pump is just right and superpump250 give vascularity xD.

That you gotta ask Ken cos even if i knew how to make the optimal self made liquid MRP, I still wouldn't have time. It was easier said than done when studying but once one starts working at a hospital like UH, i never realized how essential pre ready MRPs were. Trying this new one in a tub from Nutrabolics. Pretty damn good taste.

i tried to mix my whey + blended flexseed and sunflower seed before when i was with anabolic diet, but i didnt count the macro properly and end up gain fat at the same time. So i was thinking may be myoplex + those seed would be a good choice as whey is just digesting too fast. Hey, actually u can blend those nut or seeds for the entire week and keep it in a bottle and everyday just premix it in the shaker so when time is up just add in water Xd, its quite handy.

1 serving 42g of protein dayum!
i tried to mix my whey + blended flexseed and sunflower seed before when i was with anabolic diet, but i didnt count the macro properly and end up gain fat at the same time. So i was thinking may be myoplex + those seed would be a good choice as whey is just digesting too fast. Hey, actually u can blend those nut or seeds for the entire week and keep it in a bottle and everyday just premix it in the shaker so when time is up just add in water Xd, its quite handy.

Remember, calories are calories. At the end of the day it's input vs output. Fats even deemed healthy if overdone will contribute to fat gain. 20 cans of tuna a day can make you fat. My preworkout now during work is an MRP an i hit the gym an hour or 3 later. Workout has changed a lot. Hitting close to 40 sets, even
more per session. This is what those mad juicers at True Fitness made me do for biceps.

45lbs bar x 20 x 2
65 lbs x 15
85lbs x 12
105lbs x 10
125lbs x 10
145lbs x 10
145lbs x 8 plus 5 forced reps drop to 105lbs x 6 plus another 8 forced reps, rest 10 secs, 85lbs x 10 plus 5 forced reps.

That was the first exercise! Madness. Do you know I was screaming in pain and almost crying? Lol. They're insane!

Yeah, last time i dont understand why 4rings doesnt count calories, and only i found out that counting macro is actually the thing lol and tats when i start to lose fat.

Tats is totally madness, and a crazy drop set. I saw some guys in TF doing squat on smith machine sometime on the saturday (i dont know if they are the same guy u trained with), the training is insane, they squat the entire session and end with leg press then go home, i was there for like an hour plus, and all they do is just squat and presses.

Oh yea, i plan to get casein + egg protein for my MRP. Wat do u think of glutamine dark, it seems pretty impressive from the theory side XD

first of all...sorry if this Q isnt appropriate or have been mentioned earlier. i have a few Qs on supplements. Hope you guys can give me some tips/correction.

1)im comfortable with my weight (maybe a few kg lesser is ideal) but i have considered to take some supplements to shape up my physic. Some mention about a "cutting" suplement instead of a protein or mass stuff. Will it increase my body mass? i dont want to look huge btw.

2)i do go to gym 3 times a week (2 hours) and which supplement is appropriate to consume if i want the footballer type of physic? i start to cut down on dinner.

p/s: hope you guys/otai2 dont mind giving me some advice. nod.gif

1. Is your diet in check? Post it in the diet/workout thread so some of the regulars can comment on it. Supplements are meant to supplement and already solid diet plan. If you exercise and eat right, your body composition will improve, yes. FYI, it's not easy to, as you say, look huge.

2. I'm sorry, cutting out any meals is bad, no matter what your goals (unless you want to be anorexic). All meals are important. Like I said, your diet comes first, before supplements. So, post your diet and workout plan here http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/301136

quick question, is it necessary for newbies (those who started lifting for less than a year) to even consider supplements besides whey ? I am talking creatine, BCAAs, NO, fat burners and the like

It's common newbies only take whey at the beginning as it's the obvious choice for gaining muscles.
But as u go along u discover more important/interesting supp tat can help improve/ intensify ur workout.

if you're new to fitness and bodybuilding you may be concerned about the amount and types of supplements you should use..
finding the best workout supplements as a beginner is important..
the right supplements will help you get the results you're looking for early on in the game..
when you see quicker results, you'll be able to stick with it longer..

Grabbed a tub of Myofusion with my Syntha-6 top up just to try based on the recomendations here, on paper Myofusion takes the cake. Tried it, and I can see what you guys are on about. Syntha-6 reminds me more of ice-cream while Myo is more thick chocolate.

I'm sold. Bye bye ON Whey, in comes Myofusion.

Gonna take that unopened Black Powder for a test drive next.

For the same price, ON is whey while Myofusion is a blend. That alone is reason for me to switch. After a couple of years on ON whey, Myofusion is a godsend as far as taste is concerned.

yup, myofusion is really good stuff. I tried 1 tub few months ago... the choc flavour... whoo... it really taste great compared to ON. Currently I'm only using ON for post workout... the ON's tub is running out soon... wondering if i should also replace that with myofusion...

btw, i've recently bought their vanilla flavour... man that is like drinking liquid ice cream vanilla even though i'm just using water to prepare the shake. biggrin.gif

So based on the previous comments, Myofusion is actually better than ON 100% Whey? Why is that so? I mean, what's the difference between a blend and whey?

Some gonna switch to this flavour soon, even for any other brand of whey / blend protein..

It depends on what you mean 'better than'. Taste wise, I would say so but then again taste is highly subjective.

Whey is fast digesting protein that spikes blood amino acids faster. Blends are a combination of slow and fast digesting proteins, so it becomes a timed release mechanism that keeps you fed for [x] number of hours. It all depends on your application, post workout the vast majority of people would opt for whey because of it goes to work quick. Bedtime however, most would opt for slower digestion rates to act as an anti-catabolic while you're recharging in bed.

Switching out my ON Whey for the Myofusion blend is just a personal choice of my own. I have doubts on the bioavailibility of 50gs of whey in a single go, and thought of trying a blend where the is still whey in the mix but also some slower digested proteins to keep me covered for the next couple of hours. Personal experimentation, I"ll see if the next 3 months present any noticable physique changes.

I think Iamyanwu did mentioned before on the fast digesting protein with sufficient enzyme then it will only "fully" digest the amount of protein that u consumed. Therefore, alternatively u can add in some slow release protein that the body can absorb more completely.

I have read another article long time ago regard casein and whey for postworkout which promotes muscle grow and bla bla bla and i did it before, taking whey with milk for post workout, but i m a lactose intolerance victim, the toilet broke aft i tried it for 1 month. XD

Darn.. I just understood what you meant XD Anyway, it started after taking whey. I'm also thinking of other possible factors such as the increase in my workout regime. But on the other hand, I never experienced my lips being this dry before. I'm thinking of just increasing my water intake first and see how it goes.

Took Black Powder for a test workout today.

Mood was pretty good heading to the gym, pre-workout nutrition sucked though as the only thing I managed to down 2 hours before hitting the gym was a couple of biscuits no thanks to work creeping up on me.

Downed it just before walking into gym, and I didn't feel any different. Fifteen to twenty minutes in, no shift in the way I feel. No 'feels good mang'. No brouhaha. Nothing. Finished my warmup and still no change. Now, this isn't criticism. In fact, it's rather good for me as I work out after work and it points to lower caffeine content. Judging by the ingredient list, and I cannot be certain because of the propriety blend shield, I can guess that this probably has much less caffeine compared to BSN's NO Xplode. If you're looking for caffeine on your NO Xplode bottle, they have it there as Methylxanthine under Ener-Tropic Xplosion. Less caffeine, good for me.

I just felt calm. Like the 'calm before the storm' kinda calm. Shoulder day and today's plan was to increase the weight from last week and go heavy, low reps. After the first five sets of incrementing the weights, first three sets on heavy went by. No fuzz, no blurness. You just stare at the bar, and with a mental 'Let's do this', lift and bang out the next 6 reps. Fourth set. Fifth set. Sixth set. This is the first time I'm pushing these weights and I'm expecting fatigue to kick me in the teeth by the third set but it doesn't happen.

It's just the same feeling of uncanny calmness as I stomp around the gym pumping out my sets. A little early to say but positive outlooks so far as it gets me through my workout withoutfatigue ripping me to shreds. And I don't know where the strength came from. Be trying it out later this week during chest and back day. Deadlifts this week should be interesting. Post workout, the jury is still out as I'm hoping I can sleep tonight and not catch insomnia like the first time I tried out NO Xplode.

Some words on Myofusion which I posted earlier on page 7, sometimes I find the consistency a little too think for my liking. It's great when I'm feeling hungry, but a little too thick when I'm not. Mixing and matching with Syntha-6 now, purely taste bud driven.

Hmm.. There are quite a few know sellers in the trade seller.

If you're looking for actual outlets, I get my "dough" from http://egonutritions.com/shopping/, and during my birthday month I usually go to GNC for the crazy discounts.. smile.gif

You gained 5 kg because they're beginner gains. When you reach an advanced stage then only you'll be aware of how much more difficult it is to add just 1kg of lean mass.

rm171 from gnc is only for 3lbs.
sellers here are selling around rm220 for 5lbs.

like someone said, if price is a concern, go for myofusion, can get below rm200 for 5lbs.

I've switched to the 5lbs, the smaller tubs just empty out too fast and cost way more.

look at the nutritional content bro. IMO, most 'bodybuilding' stuff sold at pharmacies are overpriced, and are generally bad value for money.

Yes, it may have only cost you RM60. But what is the nutritional content per serving? How many servings is in the whole product? How many servings are you going to need in a day? And so on. All this matters and adds up and generally, supplements which are marketed more towards bodybuilding have better value.

First thing you got to learn is read the nutritional label, you know, the white rectangle behind with all the numbers and funny words, where most people's eyes usually glaze over. Read the serving size, the protein content/serving or per 100g, and the other ingredients

RM60/15 servings = RM4 per serving.

and for the sake of comparison, i'll use ON Whey since I'm taking that now;
ON Whey(5lbs), RM180/90 servings = RM2

nutrient content:
your RM60 package label says (33g per scoop):
6.2g protein,
19.9g carbs,
3.1g fat, + other misc vitamins and what not
im taking the content from just what you get per scoop from your label, for the sake of comparison

ON Whey (30g per scoop):
24g protein,
3g carbs,
1g fat + other misc vitamins and what not

http://www.wheygoldstandard.com/100wheyfamily/5lbwhey/

so now, if i buy a protein supplement i would expect to have protein as the main ingredient, right? when dan says read the labels, you probably have to read from a few more products and compare. most of the brands you can easily find out their nutrient contents online. being new isn't really an excuse, do your research bro thumbup.gif

For the sake of argument, since when ON whey has 90 servings?
Just to add ON whey has only 1g of sugar per serving, one of the lowest there is. But I have moved on from whey for now. Giving some time for protein blend to settle in tongue.gif

and mikehuan. y r u comparing a weight gainer with whey?

muscletech's nitrotech is also a protein blend.
and if wat i read is correct, it's more expensive and tastes awful.
in the end, just buy something tat can get the job done.
and nitrotech is only one of them. personal choice really.

Yeah I know. Nitrotech would cost rm1 more than ON per serving, on average. Just saying that the price has massively dropped, previously was ridiculously priced at 230-250.

Edit: oh saw my earlier post, quite misleading. Should be nitro now not as pricey as previously.

In the end, it's your call. But to see which is the better bang for buck, just do some cross references on the nutritional labels and the price. Should be pretty self explanatory.

I don't know why people are silly enough to even buy muscletech products in the first place much less taste them. Even the Americans at international forums make fun of their products. All they have is advertizing powder. Other cheaper supps work just as well if not better

The first tube of whey I got was under a recommendation from a friend and from going to GNC. This is only my second whey that I've got. Most definitely after finishing this I'm moving on. That's why I'm trying to read a lot about these. It seems that quite a number are taking ON instead. I still haven make a decision. Probably would do that after searching a little deeper

ive been using celltech n nitrotech combo for a while celltech fruit punch flavor is okayy i guess. nitrotech banana cream is like yuckk but hey i paid for it right? so i just have it thinking of it as protein.

How does optimum whey.. gold standard tastes like? is it better than nitrotech?

When I am over with nitrotech... I might get optimum nutrition... unless anyone of you have a better suggestion? smile.gif

Okay, two weeks on Black Powder.
Effect for workouts seemed to have worn off, I don't notice the difference now. Bad thing is, it's been giving me bouts of insomnia sometimes. Like right now, 4 am and I'm still up. So I guess it's pretty safe to say it doesn't sit well with me.

I'm on the Anaconda Protocol. I dunno how anybody recovers from this stuff. Instead of doing a cycle in one week, I need two and even then after 2 months my CNS has been fried.

So anyway, my idea now to counter this is ginseng. It's just an experiment. I bought these this evening.

0% fat? maybe u can try protein isolate but usually they are expensive.
usually have 1-2% fat, that is low enough

Anyone tried carnivore?

If not mistaken, it is the beef protein supplement. wonder how good it is? or perhaps, how bad it is?

Most protein blends out there r thick anyway. Whey is like water bcoz it contains only whey.

I just started workout a month ago.

My height is 174cm and weight is 70kg.

I wanna get fit and not bulky in a sense.

Now im targeting to increase my stamina by running the treadmill (pre) and cycling (post).

Is there any supplement that can boost the energy so i can tahan longer? as i noticed i feel tired easily...

i tried items below before:
1. Gainer from GNC (forgot the name)
2. NItrotech
3. Syntha 6

Now Im having:
1. True Mass
2. Hemorage (I think is working since not easy feeling tired when workout)
3. Dymatize Super Amino

Im planning to buy a ON Whey Protein 10lbs for daily consume, maybe every morning add with oat to replace my breakfast since On Whey is quite affordable. Any pro's reccommnedation?

Tried Champion Nutrition Pure Whey. Not bad, similar profile to ON's Gold Standard but at a much cheaper price (RM160 for a 5pounder).. not bad really. Tastes, like real chocolate (not too sweet & bitter at most). Yea I knoe... kinda reminds me of van houten chocolates, but you'll adjust to the taste. Its consistency is not too thick, more like ONs but you can adjust to taste by adding or lessening water in the mix. But overall, good stuff and I'm happy with it.

not that bad lah, but not as tasty like TrueMass or other gainers. Cookies and strawberry smell like 'udang kering', but when pour with cold water its ok already. LOL

Hi everyone, I just tried Hemo Rage Black for the first time tonight. Dunno whether its psychological but I could definitely do more sets tonight. Is anyone else using this? Lots of scary stuff written on the label e.g. cannot consume twice within 24 hours but not sure if its just gimmick marketing. Do share your experience. Thanks!
