The upgrade to FroYo has failed on my phone! Woke up just now to find KIES telling me that the upgrade has failed and need to do firmware recovery (home+vol down+power). Just rebooted and now it's at the flashing S screen. I hope nothing goes wrong la...use KIES also can fail upgrade. sleep.gif" blink.gif

Argh! The froyo upgrade through KIES failed and KIES said have to perform a firmware restoration.

It asked me to put the phone into recovery mode - "Power + Vol Down + Home", but when I do that, I get the Android Digging icon only.
Help!!

Apparently the Android digging icon is the recovery mode. I managed to recover the firmware and it rebooted into Froyo. What a huge relief. All my apps are intact, which is a surprise.

Is it absolutely necessary to do a factory reset? If yes, do I do it in the (Vol Up+Home+Power) 2e method or is there any other way? Thanks!

And my Swype settings is wonky. I don't want it to show the trace, but despite me ticking or unticking the "show complete trace" option, it will still have the blue trail!

Yes, it is cool, but execution still a bit lacking when use alongside with Swype. blush.gif

I notice a sensor bug by gallery running all the time in stock froyo. NO way to shut it off except reboot. This gallery bug drains 20% of my battery overnight. Been happened twice, as I notice. Anyone encounter this strange issue as well?

Anyone on froyo has found that once you enter GSM mode, cannot go back to 3G mode?

I am on DXJPA

Also, I find it difficult to establish data connection.

I have switchpro installed.

I don't know why you cannot but I can. No problem here on DXJPA as well.

Maybe you try use the Android settings to change instead.

No problem here as well. In the beginning, it was quite difficult for me to connect to mobile network, so I uninstalled my APN on/off widget and just relied on the inbuilt toggle. After about 30 mins, I tried again, and it was back to normal.

Btw, is the factory data reset option in phone the same as the factory reset/wipe data option in recovery 2e mode? Which should I choose if I want to reset the phone after upgrading to FroYo?

Thanks!

You have recovery 2e mode? Are you on official Froyo?

If yes, then how you do it?

Okay, it MAY be maxis doing some upgrading or something.

But I got my UMTS signal back by performing the following

Downloading samservmode

Then I did
Debug -> Network control -> Network acquisiton

I changed from UMTS -> 3G to 3G-> UMTS

Then I also changed the WCMDA band to ONLY 2100.

Then my UMTS signal came back..

Seriously? I have no idea if this is a maxis thing or it's just me.
Can someone please check as well on your phone?

---

It's the phone.
After i switch it to GSM mode, then I cannot get back to UMTS/WCDMA mode anymore.

... -.-'

Update 2:

Once I switch to GSM, I cannot get back on to 3G/UMTS

And i have to do the samserv thing again. Only this time once I select WCDMA only with 2100 signal then it forces to lock on and I get full signal at the debug menu?
Weird..
I think it's a bug because I lose all control inside the settings menu, yet I can 'debug' this from samservmode

Btw, someone please confirm with me as well if you are on DXJPA.
Thanks.
Download samservmode from market.

Just checked. I'm on recovery 3e blush.gif . What's the difference between 2e and 3e? Also, should I use the wipe data/factory reset in the 3e mode to do the factory reset or factory data reset in the phone settings itself? Which did you guys use?

Thanks!

signed update.zip meaning only official update files?

Btw, using factory recovery mode in 3e is the same as the factory data reset in phone? Abit confused about this.
