Argh! How come when I connect to KIES, it said my device cannot be upgraded? I'm on stock JG4. The only update it is showing is update of KIES. sad.gif Do I have to update KIES before I can upgrade the firmware?

So sad. sad.gif

Yes, you need to update to the latest version of kies, then only can upgrade to froyo.

haha... my streamyx suddenly gone crazy last night when I was downloading the binary file, it disconnected halfway and I've to re-connect it back. It happened twice and meant that I've to start downloading all over again twice  mad.gif It took me few hours to complete the whole process... Hope u r not as bad luck as me  thumbup.gif

Apparently I'm quite bad luck also. My KIES update is stuck at 94%, extracting and installing files...(16/18) for quite some time now. Not sure if it's supposed to take so long to extract and install the files. Will leave it for a while cos I have to go out. If I come back still stuck at the same status.... mad.gif

Edit: Firmware is updated, but seems like it's taking a lot time to connect my phone! Shoooot!

Apparently the Android digging icon is the recovery mode. I managed to recover the firmware and it rebooted into Froyo. What a huge relief. All my apps are intact, which is a surprise.

Is it absolutely necessary to do a factory reset? If yes, do I do it in the (Vol Up+Home+Power) 2e method or is there any other way? Thanks!

And my Swype settings is wonky. I don't want it to show the trace, but despite me ticking or unticking the "show complete trace" option, it will still have the blue trail!

Anyone on froyo has found that once you enter GSM mode, cannot go back to 3G mode?

I am on DXJPA

Also, I find it difficult to establish data connection.

I have switchpro installed.

No problem here as well. In the beginning, it was quite difficult for me to connect to mobile network, so I uninstalled my APN on/off widget and just relied on the inbuilt toggle. After about 30 mins, I tried again, and it was back to normal.

Btw, is the factory data reset option in phone the same as the factory reset/wipe data option in recovery 2e mode? Which should I choose if I want to reset the phone after upgrading to FroYo?

Thanks!

You have recovery 2e mode? Are you on official Froyo?

If yes, then how you do it?

Just checked. I'm on recovery 3e blush.gif . What's the difference between 2e and 3e? Also, should I use the wipe data/factory reset in the 3e mode to do the factory reset or factory data reset in the phone settings itself? Which did you guys use?

Thanks!

2e = can install any update.zip
3e = can only install signed update.zip

signed update.zip meaning only official update files?

Btw, using factory recovery mode in 3e is the same as the factory data reset in phone? Abit confused about this.
