If ever your N8 failed to boot up (mean pressing the power button but no response), do as follow:
1. Verify is it a SW hang by long press the power button >7.5 seconds to force shutdown the N8. This is for SW hang scenario 2. Plug in the charger and wait for AT LEAST 15 minutes, then try to boot up. This is for depleted battery scenario 3. If you are SURE the battery not depleted and got the DEAD N8, send to NCC for checking as it might be defective hardware related issues.
From experience, the N8 can't be Hard Reset once it's failed to boot up normally or so call "DEAD N8".

4. From what I've observed the phone AMOLED will start to turn off start at "ST BLACK-04.bmp", "ST BLACK-03.bmp", "ST BLACK-02.bmp", "ST BLACK-01.bmp",
"ST BLACK-00.bmp".
5. The screen dark "stains" will sufface as well during these few color cards.
6. Start from "ST BLACK-05.bmp" onward the dark "stains" will be not so visible.
7. All these have to be done in total darkness room as these defective "stains" are not visible at all when the surrounding are bright.
After you seen these result DO NOT simply bash N8 straight away as we're not sure why/how the AMOLED display technology work and how it perform on other

you can only snap night scenery with that and at far off range...close range will affect your image with the slightest movement.

If you don't mind having all the lights shifting away, anyway, you need a tripod as you have said if you want it to seriously crank to 3mins and you probably need some modded algorithm for image stabilization.
So far I hv not going more than 2 min lah haha..that image was taken at ~ 1.5 min exposure if I still can remember

anyway, it's cool if N8 gets to be customised that much in settings. Lots of shots will be good. As I still think if FCAM goes to N8, N8 is total ownage in photography. Anyone knows how to port apps from Maemo platform to Symbian?

Method 1
1) Disconnect your phone from PC if connected. 2) Open Control Panel and go to "Programs and Features" 3) From the list of available programs, choose "Nokia Connectivity Cable Driver" 4) Click on the "Change" button on top toolbar. 5) In the setup dialog box that pops up next, choose "Repair" and select ok. Wait for setup to complete. 6) Restart the computer if prompted. 7) Now connect your phone to the PC. Driver installation should complete and both OVI suite and PC suite (hopefully) should detect your mobile properly now.
Method 2
1) Uninstall everything that has to do with Nokia (eg: Download, Map Loader, Ovi Suite, etc) 2) Reinstall Ovi Suite again by connecting USB to phone in mass storage mode then click on OVI suite installer
Credit goes to those who discovered it, I'm just sharing for convenience and not claiming any credit for this.

Last time with my 5800, change from front usb to back usb might work. Don't know about N8.

i saw some funny thing once during i switching my maxis sim with my wife digi sim... the phone auto add all those digi wap/internet/mms setting but in the end the DIGI WAP setting is NO WHERE found within the connectivity area (so it can't be delete) but whenever any conncetion request popup the digi wap will be 1 of the option in the popup list although inside the connectivity destination don't even have it....
i saw some funny thing once during i switching my maxis sim with my wife digi sim... the phone auto add all those digi wap/internet/mms setting but in the end the DIGI WAP setting is NO WHERE found within the connectivity area (so it can't be delete) but whenever any conncetion request popup the digi wap will be 1 of the option in the popup list although inside the connectivity destination don't even have it....

Sent my poor N8 to Nokia Care center today to rectify crashing issue. "Small matter la this" according to the receptionist. But they still need a week to rectify. Needs a software upgrade according to her again. I wonder why Nokia did not include this upgrade in their SW update or Ovi store. Disappointing experience with the N8 so far, hopefully all will be rectified when it comes out of Nokia Care

the ISO of that photo already near to MAX of N8 can do....
The point of comparing N8 and IXUS is to prove that with more settings playable, we can take better photos but that's ezactly what's limiting the N8 to further its capbilities at the moment. The settings are not flexible enough.

I think, all camera phone produce poor images under low light. That's why when N8 equipped with larger sensor than any normal camera phone (even for some digital camera), we really hope it can give us more control to take better picture in almost any condition.

I think, all camera phone produce poor images under low light. That's why when N8 equipped with larger sensor than any normal camera phone (even for some digital camera), we really hope it can give us more control to take better picture in almost any condition.
In lowlight, smaller sensors usually don't do well, even high end digital camera, EVEN entry level DSLR. What's more the N8; The only thing is with better option like adjusting slower shutter speed, etc, but then you're limited to capture non-moving objects. With lower shutter speed, you will get blur shots when trying to capture movements. For DSLR, they can get faster lens with f1.8 or even wider aperture like f1.4, etc to gain faster shutter usage, or increase the ISO. Increasing the ISO will introduce more noise, losing details. Even DSLR suffers from this and it have the ability to use better lens, what's more with digital camera or phone camera.
Low Light photography is always a challenge, and requires skills and good camera with good lens. Try photographing in dinner ballroom when the lights dim down and people are walking around; Most camera will fail badly, even low end DSLR. But if you're taking about static/non-moving object photography, then having more controls will surely help (example: you can take a photo in dark room with ISO sets to 100, shutter speed as slow as 2 seconds or even longer; your picture will turn out superb).
The thing is to know your camera ability or limit, and utilize it properly. Like the saying goes, assign the right people for the right job.

Is it worth it? Just for the gaming? Honestly, I hardly touch my iPod Touch; Although I compare similar games with N8, the iPod Touch version is better and it's also much smoother. Still I hardly touch it; Touch based ONLY games are only THAT much, still better play PSP or console games. it depends on situation seriously. the software might limit it to 1/5s but if the sensor doesn't want to pump it to that figure, you can't do anything about it since it's auto

What torrent program are you using? Try bitcomet. It's by far the fastest I have used. Most of the time I get 200kbps +- speed on a 1mbps line by checking exif info

RM88 for 4mbps sounds like a good deal. I told you try Bitcomet. I have 1mbps line but I'm getting 1.6mbps speed test and my torrent can reach 200+-kbps download. and Normal ftp also around 200kbps or more cause I'm using accelerator.

May I ask what's the received file? Music/images/video right? Should be in a received files folder in Mass Memory. Check and see. Normally it's auto-save.

Extremely satisfied. It fits all my usage perfectly. Plan on what sort of usage you'll use the phone for and judge if it's good for you.
If it's camera then N8 is highly recommended. There is pros and cons to the phone but nothing is perfect. So weigh its pros and cons yourself and see if it fits you. Only you yourself knows what you need best

use opera from n8 to upload... that's high quality photos... or use the web but load the FB as the full version one (not the mobile one) then upload like u you're using pc or lappy...
if upload using ovi, the quality is very disappointed...
I thought a few days back Nokia announce that there's no more Symbian^4 They are segregating all Symbian into 1 Symbian making only 1 Symbian. Hence, you'll be seeing more features releasing in the name of Symbian^3. Phones that can pass the requirement should be able to get the new features and things like this. It sounds exactly like iOS workabout.
Anyway, it's a good move.

yeap. Should have been here 2 years ago but there's no use complaining. Maybe the folks at Nokia believes that Symbian is already a very good OS. Hence, it only needs some minor tweaks to boost the performance and not to mention the better hardware compared to 434mhz & 128mb w/o GPU

wahhh... u seem not really following this rocket thread huh?? my N8 already in ICU now for good as no matter how many times it revived it still will dead from time to time (highly due to hw defect as already hard reset)....
better take pics of fish or fishing or who slept while fishing
if u guys i go fish, i doubt you'll use ur n8 to snap pics..lolx! cuz ur n8 will have fishy smell..hahaha..like mine ==" i spent 20 min bathing my n8 just now..lol..now nice smell d

no need lah... i've use the N8 naked for more then 3 weeks still not a single scratch on the kingkong screen lah... the top/bottom plastic part is the one that easily got scratches same goes to that top/bottom cover at the 2mm battery charging hole and the HDMI & 3.5mm output hole...
from what i foresee is the Fcam "might" be on the way into N8....
Are you sure. If it's coming, it would be great but there's no news nothing about this. Who's gonna port it from Maemo to Symbian especially when it's not written using Qt?
