QUOTE(lapaq @ Feb 13 2011, 10:39 AM) Jals, Friend, I think Astro fare is just like those wives we just cannot live without them !! Correct me if I'm wrong but he never said anything about 8 chnls being in Family Pack. The 8-9 channels are this that he subscribe to. Sorry if you or other people are not rich enough to subscribe to sports or movie or even the mini packs. But HD TV contents are not a necessity item where companies or govt are suppose to give them for free. it's a luxury item as far as Malaysian are concerned. If you think it's not worthwhile, just f***ing unsubscribe it. Astro is not going to listen to our complaints if we are still going to pay RM20 each and every month. They won't budge if they don't feel the pinch of getting less money. I respect those who are going to unsubscribe their HD coz they think it's not worth their money. That is what I'd do as well if I don't feel that something is not worth my money. Not like certain people who hate to pay RM20 but still continue pay. You know, like people who hate their wife like crazy but still to afraid to live without them. Added on February 13, 2011, 12:09 pm QUOTE(Optiplex330 @ Feb 13 2011, 11:10 AM) Unfortunately free Astro isn't in the United Nation Declaration of Human Rights together with free Abalone, free Starbucks coffee, free BMW, free petrol, free travels and free everything. By collecting 6% tax they may become the number one service tax contibutor of the govt, competition I doubt it cos everyone with licence only talk big but no ..... to start, UNifi is still hiding in the same spots it started ! http://www.un.org/en/documents/udhr/index.shtml On the other hand, there should be free competition against Astro. QUOTE(zeone @ Feb 14 2011, 12:25 PM) Pls let us b clear abt 1 main point here... I beg to differ, astro is not luxury but a neccesity for some. Many of us cannot even recive our very own FTA channels clearly despite those aerials and hv to take Astro just for reception sake so here it becomes a neccesity. The govt is very unfair it shld direct astro to distribute these FTA Govt. channels FOC and not put them in the family pack and sell for RM37.95 ! Anybody who has astro shld be entitled to Govt.channels FOC.Even u cut astro ,astro CANNOT not cut the reception of Govt.channels. Astro is a neccesity but has been made look like luxury and as usual our minister wld say who ask u to subscribe ,when he also knows that even a fair reception of govt. channels is not possible without the astro dish!Subscription to Astro is VOLUNTARY! No one is forced to join/watch Astro prgs. YOU know wat yu're subscribing for when yu sign up for an Astro package. If yu don't, it's yr own fault & ignorance cos yu oledi know wat yu're subscribing for. Hope/Wish is just that...yr hope/wish. Not reality. Sorry... The Govt knows that, as well as that Astro pkgs are a LUXURY item...NOT a necessity! That's why a Service Tax can be imposed on Astro subs. Yu want it, yu pay for it! Simple as that. If one is not happy with Astro Services, one is alwaz entitled to cancel/not subscribe to Astro. Your right as a Consumer. Sincerely hope above clarification will help open more eyes to Reality! Me not associated nor linked with Astro in any way! Juz a neutral bystander nia. TQ. This post has been edited by smileguy: Feb 14 2011, 02:45 PM |

QUOTE(zeone @ Feb 14 2011, 03:10 PM) I see wat yu mean re Terrestial TV Ch eg RTM 1,2, TV3, NTV7, 8TV etc. Frankly, esp for RTM 1 & 2, that's the Govt's responsibility. True? The other channels eg by Media Prima, is up 2them 2improve access, being also private entities & thus subject 2commercial profitability & shareholders' interests. Wow ! Nice words on Valentines day,Let the love flow!! Yup, it's unfortunate Msia has such terrain & "blind spots" causing poor reception via normal antennae. Of course it'd be wonderful if some commercial enterprise or "charitable" body cld provide such FOC access. However, as everyone knows, Msia is NOT in that "advanced" stage yet...long long way 2go, really!! Yup, Bro Lapaq, one can nvr "force" anyone 2accept the reality of Life in Msia. We really need 2count our blessings..wat we hv and NOT wat we NOT hv. Agreed? If we compare ourselves 2those who hv, we will akwaz be UNhappy & frus. If we compare 2those who not hv, we're indeed so blessed! Sincerely hope all who hv such UNhappiness will seek Happiness thru understanding... Wish all well during this Happy Season! PEACE. |

QUOTE(Optiplex330 @ Feb 15 2011, 08:31 AM) I think there are more than 30 China channel. In fact, there are so many free channel up in the sky that you could get tired just pressing the remote control in changing from one channel to another. Beside China, you can get Taiwan program, Korean program, Indonesian program, Indian program, Pakistan program, German program, Philippine program, Australia program, Arab program.....so many you lost count. All FREE Your term frog in the well, is very rude and silly, u got all facts wrong and barking for nothing ! Now, who should we blame? And yet, we have 'frog in well' mindset people complaining about the little RM20 Byond fees. They should think out of the box and try to get those FTA available instead. QUOTE(dxjb @ Feb 15 2011, 06:19 PM) I understand what ur saying coz I've been to Indonesia too..but may I ask 'those houses with the size of tiny toilet', did they get the FTA channels legally or illegally? Seriously I just want to know, coz if they get it illegally, then I see no difference between our government and theirs..thats why I want to know which SEA government actually gives their citizens the legal rights to have those FTA channels without any restrictions.. FTA channels are legal, but our law does not permit us use a large dish to recieve those. This post has been edited by smileguy: Feb 15 2011, 06:50 PM |

Log in to cfm.org or KDN consumers portal and lodge ur complaint and within 3 days u wl get a reply. Try it u wl be surprised.Astro grossly overcharged me in my latest invoice. Called up 3 times to explain and every time they agreed it was their mistake to overcharge but they never give me any rebate. May be I have to go to Small Claim Court to get at Astro and call press people to come witness what sort of arrogant b*&^% they are. www.cfm.org.my This post has been edited by smileguy: Feb 17 2011, 03:04 PM |

No, I took MCE,I wonder if u know wat that means,You took SPM ? BTW this thread is for Astro Beyond and this is not the issue here. Check your astro box it states sarikata bahasa melayu which means subtitles in malay not subtitle in National Language, its where u use the term, here sarikata bahasa melayu is correct. Malaysia's ASTRO and MAXIS role in Indian 2G Scam probedNew Delhi : India | Feb 17, 2011 By abraham_isaac 2
Along with South India's largest Media house- Sun TV Group, Malaysia's telecom giant Maxis and Media magnet Astro find themselves in the muddy puddle of great Indian scam- 2G Spectrum Scam. A report in a section of the Indian media, had said that investigators are probing the transaction between Sun TV Group and Astro as part of general probe into the 2G Scam. The report said that the government granted licenses to Aircel and Dishnet Wireless in 2006 while the applications of other companies were still pending. Aircel is owned by Malaysia's Maxis group. Astro All Asia Networks is also owned by Ananda Krishnan, the proprietor of Maxis. The then telecom minister, Dayanidhi Maran, is the brother of Kalanidhi Maran, Founder of Sun TV Network. In 2007, Astro has purchased stake in Sun Network for Rs.3,320 crore at a time when Sun had not started operations and had projected losses of $166 million in the first five years of operations. Astro is phasing out Max so frankly speaking we dont hv much of a choice then to accept their offer and change to beyond. Holding on to Max is not of any help cos it is no more compatible, and the provider is replacing it.

I had Max and swapped it for 2yrs free reording service. We hv no other choice pls try to understand. Max is not compatible for HD and the truth is my max was never stable since the day I had it. Recordings go missing all the time ! Morever ,Pls refer the subscription agmt, nothing is in our favour.!!I suggest let Max go and grab the offer. Morever this swap is also to prevent selling of recorded material.I guess with Max u can transfer the recorded material but Beyond u cannot,so here its to protect thier interest.
