What we feel 3D is still very expensive and not affordable,so it wld be better we had more of HD for the moment.

Finas is meeting Astro regarding saving the local movie industry, so AF wl soon be an alternate local movie channel, and they already hv a long line up of all the horror flicks, see today Bernama online. Meanwhile we can put the issue of the promised 15HD channels to sleep.




KUALA LUMPUR: The National Film Development Corp of Malaysia (FINAS) will meet pay-television service provider, Astro, over the latter's decision to release movies that are still shown at cinemas.

Astro chief operating officer, Henry Tan, had said that Malaysians would no longer have to endure long ticket-counter queues and traffic jams whenever they wanted to watch a movie at the cinema with the latest movie-on-demand service.

"With Astro First, the customers will soon be able to watch the latest titles within two weeks after the cinema release in the comfort of their homes and at an affordable price," he said at the launch of Astro First.


Tan had said Astro First would debut on Astro Channel 480 with three movie titles -- Aku Masih Dara, Damping Malam and Ngangkung.


"The service promises affordability, convenience and enhanced family time for the customers and costs RM15 per movie.

"Among the movie titles are Hikayat Merong Mahawangsa, Hantu Kak Limah Balik Rumah, KongSi, Kembar Siang, Tolong Awek Aku Pontianak, Senjakala, Sini Ada Hantu as well as other popular regional movies titles in the next few months.


"In addition, the 32 different viewing times for each movie, give you the convenience of watching it at your leisure and for as many times possible within 48 hours upon signing up," he said.

Finas director general Mohd Mahyidin Mustakim said the meeting expected to be held early next week would include producers, distributors and cinemas.

"The meeting is to get a clear picture of what Astro had proposed and find a solution to ensure the survival of the film industry," he told reporters at the Malam Bersama Bintang 2011 here tonight. -- BERNAMA

Exactly, Astro SD is worst seen on LCD and LED, I heard Plasma is ok with Astro SD, However its all in our eyes and a matter of taste , we may find it worst some may find it superb, I beg to differ too Beyond does not improve SD quality.

Added on January 17, 2011, 7:46 pmI too hv a z series but if u find PQ is bad play with the PQ settings esp the backlight, set to auto view and set your desired settings, disable resolution+ if u find Astro SD is turning HD,!!I think there is another Post RElated to Toshiba , search it regards. If u hv a HDTV then consider Beyondlah if not it may be a wasted effort to switch to HDTV

Pls dont waste your money on Monster cables for Beyond HD and normal DVD the cheapest cable also wld suffice

Added on January 18, 2011, 10:31 amThats a point. A cinema is a cinema, AF cannot replace the cinema to me I rather catch a movie at the cinemas ! Horror flicks are not great to watch at Cinemas either !

Last time every 1/2 hour security letters appear on screeen now lately on my beyond the info bar pops up evry 1/2 hour for a second or two !! Very innovative design I suppose!

I support ur point here all chinese shld be united by one common language Mandarain and all Indians sld be united by a common laguage Tamil.This fact has been accepted in Spore.Sad to say here as far Indians are concerned it is still NOT possible and they are against Tamil ! In spore if u are Indian Muslim, Malayale or telugu (just like cantonese,Hokkien etc ) u take tamil as second language !

Astro SD is perfect for CRT only, some say Plasma tolerates thier SD too but I have not tried cos too few Plasma owners around. I have to set my tv to auto view to compensate the difference each time I go from a SD channel to HD !

Good point ! For HD just watch NGC/HBO/SM HD and compare them with LOST on AXN HD,see the difference all HD is not actually HD !

The sports pack is very highyly priced compared to its offerings !

Quite inconvenient cos each time you must change Beyond sound settings if u select 5.1 for HTS !

Activation shld be instant,u shld not hv signed the invoice until reception is made avaliable,anyway call them again cos mostly in CS are morons !

Isnt there a coaxial or optical output ?,There shld be one I think,u may connect it to HTS.
