What we feel 3D is still very expensive and not affordable,so it wld be better we had more of HD for the moment.

QUOTE(m_imrun @ Jan 15 2011, 03:45 AM) I don't understand why some of you bash astro for having 3D channel..I think this is good..eventhough the equipment is quite expensive..we already late in getting our HD services..at least we are not behind in 3D tech this time... Pal, I dont think we are bashing perhaps we are just giving our opinions, thats all. |

QUOTE(leftist @ Jan 15 2011, 03:21 PM) juz installed byond yesterday..automatically they activate it...successfully made byond remote to control the volume after 1 hour of hard work till 1 am yesterday...wakakakaka...satisfied with it..one thing i notice...the software is faster than astro normal decoder..no more lagged when changing channel!..but i hate when we must press 100% right channel number!!..no more automatically goes to closest channel number...arghhhhhhh Finas is meeting Astro regarding saving the local movie industry, so AF wl soon be an alternate local movie channel, and they already hv a long line up of all the horror flicks, see today Bernama online. Meanwhile we can put the issue of the promised 15HD channels to sleep. KUALA LUMPUR: The National Film Development Corp of Malaysia (FINAS) will meet pay-television service provider, Astro, over the latter's decision to release movies that are still shown at cinemas. Astro chief operating officer, Henry Tan, had said that Malaysians would no longer have to endure long ticket-counter queues and traffic jams whenever they wanted to watch a movie at the cinema with the latest movie-on-demand service. "With Astro First, the customers will soon be able to watch the latest titles within two weeks after the cinema release in the comfort of their homes and at an affordable price," he said at the launch of Astro First. Tan had said Astro First would debut on Astro Channel 480 with three movie titles -- Aku Masih Dara, Damping Malam and Ngangkung. "The service promises affordability, convenience and enhanced family time for the customers and costs RM15 per movie. "Among the movie titles are Hikayat Merong Mahawangsa, Hantu Kak Limah Balik Rumah, KongSi, Kembar Siang, Tolong Awek Aku Pontianak, Senjakala, Sini Ada Hantu as well as other popular regional movies titles in the next few months. "In addition, the 32 different viewing times for each movie, give you the convenience of watching it at your leisure and for as many times possible within 48 hours upon signing up," he said. Finas director general Mohd Mahyidin Mustakim said the meeting expected to be held early next week would include producers, distributors and cinemas. "The meeting is to get a clear picture of what Astro had proposed and find a solution to ensure the survival of the film industry," he told reporters at the Malam Bersama Bintang 2011 here tonight. -- BERNAMA Read more: Finas meets Astro over movie releases http://www.nst.com.my/articles/Finastomeet.../#ixzz1B5oMGePU This post has been edited by smileguy: Jan 15 2011, 05:00 PM |

QUOTE(galantorian7116 @ Jan 17 2011, 05:02 PM) I observed that watching Astro SD programmes on LED TV, its quality is worse off than watching from a CRT TV. Exactly, Astro SD is worst seen on LCD and LED, I heard Plasma is ok with Astro SD, However its all in our eyes and a matter of taste , we may find it worst some may find it superb, I beg to differ too Beyond does not improve SD quality. Added on January 17, 2011, 7:46 pm QUOTE(machoman71 @ Jan 17 2011, 03:47 PM) hi guys, finally wifey and myself bought a new toshiba lcd 40inch last week. Added on January 18, 2011, 10:31 am QUOTE(wongsf @ Jan 18 2011, 07:19 AM) There are people who will only goes for big sceen and surround sound. Then there are people will only watch pirated DVD. Now there are people who can watch on Astro First, are young couples with babies and can't goes to cinema and don't want to watch pirated DVD. Thats a point. A cinema is a cinema, AF cannot replace the cinema to me I rather catch a movie at the cinemas ! Horror flicks are not great to watch at Cinemas either ! QUOTE(mask rider @ Jan 18 2011, 05:06 PM) My concern is.. with this AStroFirst they will be the easier way to make pirated movie after 2 week it release to cinema. But its mostly local fare and more of horrors !! Not like previous day..they waited after the original copy. For me the Astrofirst is good coz I can watch movie at home without go to cinema since I still got baby if plan to go with whole family. |

QUOTE(Optiplex330 @ Jan 22 2011, 05:25 PM) You may know Chinese programs but I am not sure how well you understand the Malaysian Chinese. I support ur point here all chinese shld be united by one common language Mandarain and all Indians sld be united by a common laguage Tamil. This fact has been accepted in Spore.Sad to say here as far Indians are concerned it is still NOT possible and they are against Tamil ! In spore if u are Indian Muslim, Malayale or telugu (just like cantonese,Hokkien etc ) u take tamil as second language ! We are not in Hong Kong whereby everybody understand Cantonese. Malaysian Chinese are different. We are made up of many different Chinese dialect group. Unfortunately, many Malaysian Cantonese thought all Chinese must be Cantonese or know Cantonese. In reality, that is not correct and the Malaysian Chinese situation is like this: 1. Malaysian Cantonese can understand Mandarin. 2. Malaysian Hokkien may not know Cantonese but they understand Mandarin. 3. Malaysian Foochow may not know Cantonese but they understand Mandarin etc etc In other word, all Malaysian Chinese should know Mandarin so why not use that as a unifying force and have Chinese program broadcast in Mandarin? In fact, there are many Mandarin program being deliberately dubbed into Cantonese. So now you have Chinese program in Cantonese, don't you think the other dialect group wouldn't complain? Just because the Cantonese talk the loudest and many residing in the capital KL does not make them right and should have their way. I think Singapore has it right all those years. They insist all must be in Mandarin. That's one reason why they are so much ahead of us Malaysia. |

QUOTE(Optiplex330 @ Jan 24 2011, 08:32 AM) Astro SD sucks on all HDTV regardless of brand and regardless of LCD/LED/Plasma and regardless of how you tune your HDTV. Period. Good point ! There is a saying....garbage in, garbage out. But this does not apply to High Definition TV. With HDTV, it should be amended to: "Garbage in, EVEN BIGGER garbage out" so stick to CRT if you are solely on Astro SD. |
