I doubt that,cos for astro Hijrah HD could conflict with their Oasis SD ! Looks like New HD fare for all is not in the menu !

HD services is optional but PVR fees is RM10pm,I suggest go for Beyond PVR ,then External HD, u pay RM20 extra if u take HD and u get HD channels corresponding only to your packs.

Thats pretty cool !! We hv no choice we hv to put up with it cos we are dealing with a sole provider !! I remeber my old toshiba had some preinstalled mini games.......well I dont know why now we dont see such sets!

Can but wat wld SKM do ? It wld send a standard showcause letter tnen a smart ass wld reply talking crap and deny that there was compression or say they follow standard international procedures or say PQ is beyond thier control it was the feed they recieved ! SKMM cannot touch astro !

We are at the mercy of a sole provider!!! You wld see that Starhub has a better and cheaper line up ,just convert the pack pricing ! wat we hv here is the many In house malay and Indian channels which are money making machines for them ! An average income earner has to pay at least RM60 for just family with HD and RM90 with sports HD ! WTF

I think ours is 100% branded as Disney malaysia with BM content ! One of the best channel for kids and teens once upon a time is in such a bad state now,with local content overdose!

Thats the last 2 reserved channels used on a rotation basis ,one for sports and the other for In House ,looks like there is no more space for any permanent HD channels!

Satellite broadcaster, Astro, will work towards ensuring that subscription fees for basic packages for its future channels will not be increased.

Information, Communication and Arts Minister Datuk Seri Dr Rais Yatim said Astro’s current minimum subscription fee for the basic package was competitive compared to other countries in the region, at RM37.95 for 33 multi-lingual and multi-genre channels.

“The basic package was originally priced at RM49.95 in 2004 but with fewer channels than what’s available now,” he said in a written reply made available to the media at the Dewan Rakyat here yesterday.

He was responding to a query from Wee Choo Keong (Independent-Wangsa Maju) on the ministry’s move to control what was described as Astro’s “high” monthly charges considering that it had made a net profit of RM689 million last year on the back of 2.911 million subscriptions.

On claims of content monopoly of popular channels on the part of Astro, he said the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) had done a survey on this matter in addition to holding talks with foreign content rights holders such as HBO, Disney and Discovery.

“The MCMC has found that content and broadcast rights procurement was very competitive. As to premium content from abroad, they are sourced in accordance with the terms and conditions stipulated by content rights holders as well as prices offered by broadcast stations,” he said. — Bernama


Didnt we all agree that they hv full govt.support including the minister and SKMM!! 37.95 for 33 channels he says hope he is aware that more then a dozen are FTA channels including 7 malaysian channels OMG !49.95 was before repacking after repacking free to view channels it came 37.95,that also that old guy does not know! He is defending the rate!!

Agreed bro ! Yes it has become a BN tool, this Thursday channel 222 will air an Indian Cultural Event in the name of 1 Malaysia from PWTC officiated by PM! MIC is going to use channel 201 to air Indian community News every weekends 8pm!! what further evidence we need .........?!
