QUOTE(merchant9 @ Nov 16 2010, 10:44 AM) My purpose of a prime is to learn the difference between prime and zoom. I use my camera to snap our travel, kids and house deco. The other 2 lenses you recommended are expensive? I seen some scary photos of how it broke apart. I think one of you shot a photo of it in the garbage bin. Yes, will visit your Flickr. Thanks. Well it is cheap.... that is why it is suitable to be made as practice equipment

QUOTE(sniper on the roof @ Nov 16 2010, 12:49 PM) Then again, if one can afford a FF.. he/she should go L or the Sigma rite yep so true I mean the FF body with cheapo lens wouldn't be a good combo like what Kai done test on his one of the video

QUOTE(-kytz- @ Nov 16 2010, 04:43 PM) You guys use nifty fifty as "practice lens", some use it as "disposables" BUT i use it as my primary lens Added on November 16, 2010, 4:45 pmEnded up in the dustbin lol relax what counts is the picture you taken... not the equipment.... I always wonder how the heck that old pictures look stunning even compare to now modern technology. Believe me, just stop comparing and more snapping picture soon you'll see that having the cheapest and can produce better image is even better. Somehow to me, I feel that my picture are not worthy of equipment upgrade .... more to knowledge upgrade.... I will upgrade when people I called sifu/master acknowledge my work before then I think I'm going to stick to this setup P/S: eventhough I have zoom lens.... I seldom use it even for landscape... I don't know why but I feel that zoom is for group picture and yeah just like you I'm using nifty fifty as my primary lens This post has been edited by ComradeZ: Nov 16 2010, 04:52 PM

QUOTE(fruitie @ Nov 18 2010, 12:17 AM) Haha. Sorry to disappoint you. I also don't know why but it seems after I poked into my iPad then suddenly everything got messed up. Added on November 18, 2010, 12:20 amAnyway, will reformat my SDHC after I get to recover everything that I want. Hopefully everything goes well after this, spent hours for this thing and still hasn't solved... Well, it is time for new sd card? or maybe send for warranty?

QUOTE(merchant9 @ Nov 18 2010, 11:27 AM) I am not a photographer. I dont shoot anything besides my family and some friend's wedding events for fun. In fact, I'm no where close to being a photographer. The only reason I bought DSLR is that I noticed the lag-time between you pressing the shutter button and the camera snap the photo is much faster that point 'n' shoot camera. How much is the 35mm f2? I dont know which focal length I use more now since someone told me that Lightroom able to tell me that but I cannot find the function in Lightroom. 50mm f1.8 is something I am willing to spend on. Rule of thumb: trying not to go into the thousands. If I'd be you since you already have kit lens... then why not invest in portrait lens? like 50mm ii f1.8? Kit lens for the other reason and nifty fifty is for portrait with your own family. Though maybe if you need for casual or let say a gig or a concert... you might want to add 55-250mm in your wishlist. For a better focal length where it needed to be zoom far away.

QUOTE(goldfries @ Nov 18 2010, 01:33 PM) Sniper did not misunderstand it at all because that's how English works. when you say INVEST, it immediately has to do with INVESTMENT. hehe since when this forum include english's professor? hehehe, chill just use my "own" kind of words. Means something else rather than formally saying it Anyway the flashgun really is a great stuff... been using it for a couple of times.. thinking of adding a softbox

QUOTE(waggygee @ Nov 18 2010, 01:35 PM) talking about sigma lenses, has anyone tried the Sigma 50mm f/1.4? Im considering getting the Canon 50mmf/1.4 but I would like to know (from someones personal experience) how it stacks up against the much more expensive Sigma yeah... been seeing the sigma 30mm 1.4 alot... now for the 50mm 1.4 poison? Either way, I'm sticking to my trusty nifty fifty for the moment

I love the 50mm too, used have the f/1.8 but sold it to finance a body upgrade. I think I'll go for the f1.4 next... maybe one day if money starts growing on trees, I'll manage to get a 1.2L Dude, if money starts growing on trees, I'll be buying a complete set.. then again, for me... it is coming soon if any projects coming in

I know right maybe after getting myself a proper gear QUOTE(xLegato @ Nov 18 2010, 02:26 PM) Suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuure, the next time I buy myself a meal at McD I'm going to call it "investing" in a meal because I'm "using my own kind of words". rofl another professor has just started working his bun off I heard it alot from a SG-rian~ not that I'm not SG-rian myself This post has been edited by ComradeZ: Nov 18 2010, 02:30 PM

QUOTE(LegendLee @ Nov 18 2010, 02:31 PM) Yeah, especially the one where the background is a beach or a nice scenery at dawn or dusk. I've seen a lot of pre-wedding shots which follows the same format before. Getting the gear is thing, getting the people at the right location at the right time is another lolz. Lol, thats why you need to familiarize yourself with landscape photography. It will come in handy when you doing the shots from the example on the outdoor I'm trying to familiarize myself... later maybe I can do the same thing as my idolize photographer too
