@solse: Install paths are hardcoded, unless made clear otherwise. in other words, there is no real easy way to force installations into whatever folders you would like (other then symlinking, but that brings other problems later).

So, as put by DiskUsage:

1) rootfs / root - all important system files and CORE application files go here - because it's faster then 2 and 3, thus it is considered premium real estate. Free space here is needed by the system, fill it up and watch your N900 go ballistic.

2) Application Memory - other files for installed software go here. App libraries or databases.

3) MyDocs / eMMC - as the name suggests, for your own media and stuff. Some apps with huge files sometimes allows certain humungous files to be installed here, but it's actually NOT formatted in a way that Linux can fully take advantage of, so it's primarily for Media.

It's POSSIBLE to repartition (re-organise) the three to whatever sizes you require, but it isn't advisable unless you're a Linux long-timer who knows exactly what you're doing.

Also, like windows, there IS some order in the directories. App files go into /usr/bin/; libraries go to /usr/libs/; files used by multiple apps go to /usr/share/; et cetera, et cetera.

I guess it's just the Linux way of doing things. It CAN be changed, but changing it will NOT be a walk in the park.

IINM anyway.

Black Plastic theme and background using carbon theme background, icon using faenza-n900 and URWGothicL font. Blend all this using theme customizer.

no worries, and as bro Eiraku said most apps will go to the 2gb.

however for those who like to tinker and wants to know where and where the files are...got a nice explanation from the link below. dont fix if it aint broken.

i tried playing 1.5gb avi and multi task taking camera and n900 didnt crash, tried +app manager, bogs down a bit but still it didnt crashed. better than my pc...lol.

on optifying app+others. my disclaimer - dont blame me if anything happen tongue.gif, its a good post to know how things are structured and how to view them.

baha, i said crashed bro. with app manager, it will surely lag. even on pc if you multi task while installing software, everything slows down...

but with n900, it lags but it didnt crash smile.gif thats where it really counts.
