i did clean installation.uninstall first then only install.thats how it supposed to be rite? well i got it from msi forum.the driver.as i was unable to find my cd. aaww if i wan reformat then have to buy new windows 7 product key ??  plus after reformat sure need install back the driver rite so it would be the same as now? or u believe there is some unclean uninstall? like hidden thing didnt uninstall when i perform uninstallation of that driver.

guys I want to DIY to replace my slot 1 HDD with SSD. May I know which is slot 1? Is it next to the battery (to the right of batt) or above the battery?

yep i figured out by removing each hdd..the primary slot is the one above battery..laptop now running smooth with ssd

ok i am still stuck with my GT683DX... jokes aside, does any one knows if the wifi antenna in the laptop supports 5GHz band? thinking of changing my wifi adapter since it's performance is sub par, to say at best...

still scratching head y MSI would opt for an entry lvl wifi adapter for it's flagship models...

currently looking at Centrino 6205 or 2200, both costs roughly the same price on eBay... and i specifically dun want a wifi/bluetooth combo adapter, since the BT is affecting the performance of wifi... and honestly, i can live without BT... can't remember the last time i actually use BT on my computer...

basically here's my current situation... me and my friend lives opposite of each other in an apartment building... to the point where we can see each other's access points... he has several network HDD connected to his router, so that i can upload games/dramas for him without needing to cross the corridor (yes we re lazy ), but so far the performance of the Intel Centrino 130 is disappointing... i can connect to his access point fine, but with only max 2 bars of signal in Win7 task bar... upload any file and Windows would complain that it can't find the network drive at all after transferring for some timee...

i ve been doing tests lately, comparing the Centrino 130 that's default with the laptop, and an Atheros AR9285 (also a 1T1R adapter, but no bluetooth) which used to be in a Asus G73SW of my friend... sure, under optimal situation, both cards work pretty much the same... but as distance increases, Centrino 130 performs poorly significantly... at the same location, connecting to my friend's access point (a Buffalo router, 802.11n, WPA2-Personal, 20MHz), the Centrino fluctuates between 19-24Mbps, while the Atheros connects at 65Mbps full speed... with the Centrino i can hardly surf the web, timing out in most cases, but with the Atheros, web pages load, albeit slowly...

i ve even grabbed my friend's Compaq V3000 which comes with Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG, and it manages to connect at 54Mbps full speed... plus i ve done some research and that the BT would interfere with wifi performance since both operate at the same frequency...

i know all these are not very scientific, but seriously it has been nothing short of disappointment... next up i think i am gonna rip out the Intel Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN from my friend's old laptop to try again...

oh, and regarding y i think MSI should opt for a better adapter, wireless is the norm now, and many games are online based... it's not easy to run cables around a house, unless u ve done so during renovation... so wireless is still the optimal choice... coming from my old laptop (Asus N81Vp), it's not the highest end model of it's time, but it still came with an Atheros single band 2T2R adapter... when i bought GT683DX, i was expecting sth of the same lvl, no need the top of the line one, juz a mid-end one would do... especially this is a gaming laptop we re talking abt here, wireless is pretty important since many games are online based now, as i ve mentioned...

Hi all, my laptop got problem and need to send over to service centre for warranty claims/repairs. Base on your experience (if any), which service centre provide better and fast response service? Lowyat or Kelana Square?

I have problem with my GT780DX. It's been 9 months already. The problem starts last month. My GT780DX hang while playing Diablo 3. Spamming my CCWW Wizard skill. When it hang my GT780DX have the "hang" sound(when you heard you will straight know it is hang already) those sound.

Okay, so i restart it, same things happen after i play 5min-10min. restart again, then same thing happen. I try to find out what happen is it the graphic too stress for GC? I think that is not the case. I touch the exhaust area. Very hot. Okay so this time I on Turbo fan cooling. Then I can play. Without it i can't it will shut down.

Previously when i first bought it i play BF3 high graphic setting(without turbo fan cooling needed) no such thing happened. Why now, while i play Diablo 3 with normal setting? Okay nvm since turbo fan cooling is on it solves the problem.

Then I bought Guild War 3 to play. I can play with high and low setting of graphic either setting will not let me play for 10minute then hang again just like when I play Diablo 3(Even with my turbo fan cooling is on). This is terrible i cant play it at all. So i bought a 8" fan (table fan) and blow my GT780DX. So far so good.

Obviously the fan sound is too loud, and im upset because my GT780DX cannot handle these game. What is my problem here, i installed updated drivers to my system(lastest GC drivers). Is it my hardware problem? How come it gets so hot?

Can anyone help me solve my situation? Or should i send back to MSI as warranty? Sorry for the long story, hope sifu's here can help.

Thanks for attending my problem. What I meant by hang is my laptop doesn't respond anymore. only holding the turn off button for force restart.
You mention about cleaning. Do you suggest i should open up and cleaning. I have no experience in this. does it void the warranty?

Everything just freezed, sometime blackscreen... now im even getting bluescreen saying about hardware problem.

Oh ya, the other day i wanted to try the cleaning when im prepared with my tools i flipped over my laptop. there is sticker warranty void sticker then i dint continue. The worse thing is the sticker looks likes its opened before. Ya, the sticker koyak I dint know. I really dint do anything with it. Just notice it. I hope Im still warranty covered.

Recently I had a few BSOD crashes which corrupted most of my data. One of the process that was corrupted is the Msi Recovery Manager which is vital for restore to factory setting. I can access it but I can't do much. The whole restore process took 27 secs and after that it appears with a black screen mentioning I need to install using Windows 7 disc. How can I restore the whole thing back to its original state? Will image disc help that? or I need to send it back to the service center?

yeah... I was thinking of sending to the service center since this whole issue is getting a bit out of hand. I used a window cd to reinstall the whole process but most of the large file I downloaded keep getting corrupted. Tried downloading the drivers but some failed. Not sure how I am going to keep up added with the issues with my work at hand getting more and more. I think I am going mad unless I could get them to pick up from me.

I am cool.    Just a bit frustrated that's all. I formatted my C drive which holds the OS through the installation from Windows 7 boot manager but the problem still persist and it spread from one partition to another partition. Now almost all of my larger files which are RAR-ed in D drives are also affected. It is almost as large as 450GB in total. Can't restore the files, nor repair those. It seems the data corrupted so much that Bitcomet hash check can't detect anything too even when the files are CRC corruption is detected by Winrar and 7zip.

So, now, I will have to transfer those files into an external hard disk before checking which can be used or which cannot be used. After that, I plan on sending the laptop to the repair centre by tomorrow or Monday if possible. Not sure what is the cause but perhaps the kernel files are corrupted ( I check using 'whocrashed' software), therefore causing the BSOD crashing or worst, hard disk failure.    Really didn't expect these things to happened so soon after I reformatted it one month ago. Well, what done is done, can't cry over spilled milk. Hopefully, sending to the repair centre is a one way trip. Wouldn't want to get back another faulty one after the repair. Besides, backing the files up are tedious like hell, the hours of waiting is a long ticket to boredom

Now sure if they do pick up service though. If they do, it will ease my pain a bit.

I sent my GT780DX for warranty. They helped me to clean the exhaust area and blow away the dust trapped in the GPU fan. The temperature back to normal. When they open my laptop every is clean just the exhaust area is dusty and the dust blocked the fan. After cleaning everything back to normal. The warranty sticker did not void. I remember correctly when i bought the Laptop is a free upgrade of 8gb ram. The tauke help me install it.

Luckily my warranty is not void

btw... is any1 here selling the 780DX hard disck bracket? i need the bracket only >.> as i go to MSI singapore they only let me to purchase the harddisk itself as it comes with the bracket... the price is ridiculous... because i only need a hard disk bracket tray for the extra slot... MSI dont give me any >.>

I don't think it was virus related. I suffered few hundreds type of virus, worm and malwares during my early years of having a desktop and done a number of manual repairs and reformatting. It is not something that I have seen. The effect is very different. After sending mine to the Service Centre in Kelana Jaya, didn't heard anything in 1.5 week time. Had to call them up to find out the problem. After asking them, they told me the technicians didn't found any problems with my hard disk but they suspect it is related to hardware. they had problems when they tried to recover my system and now they are replacing 3 hardware parts. I can't remember everything but they said they will replace my fan, GPU (if not wrong) and my motherboard. Now, I am waiting for them to replace the motherboard. Worst of all, if they don't have the motherboard, they need to import it from Taiwan... This is the longest repair I found myself in. I supposed it will take 3 weeks to perhaps 1 month to finish the repair... Well, provided they didn't found any other problem or bonkers after the parts arrived. The waiting is really taking its toll on me though...
