Actually, force it to use EDGE. BlackBerries run exceptionally well with EDGE coverage, switch to 3G only when you have some large bandwidth using (Waze GPS, etc)

otherwise for text based stuffs like whatsapp, bbm, it runs just as fine. Really, because I'm running here on GPRS only and already i can do as much.

You both are correct. Wanted to come back and report. Actually dont know what made me decide to change to 2g only. I did so and the battery life IS AMAZING i tell you smile.gif i mean, speed is slow if u wanna browse but still other stuff like bbm and wats app, works perfectly fine!!!

thanks thanks all .... i've been at work for the past 4 hrs now, when i left my house, it was full and now its still full smile.gif yeeeeehaaaa

so conclusion : USE 2g only not the 2g+3g unless you dont mind not having battery life at the end of the day smile.gif

its the proximity sensor working. When receiving calls, it will automatically turn off the screen when you have it next to ur face. This is to avoid, pressing other buttons as the screen is pretty sensitive when its next to ur face.... There's a device right next to the LED light indicator ( u can't see it) which u can try covering with ur finger when making a call or receiving a call. smile.gif

sifusss : correct rite??

Torch 9810 user reporting in!

Any idea where I can find Otterbox or Seidio Innocase cases?

I have a Seidio active case but it's really limiting my trackpad movements

hi guys, i need some answers from all the masters here thumbup.gif

i got a brand new blackberry torch 9800 yesterday, then after few hours, i realized that when the slider is open (the keyboard appears), if i touch the right-bottom side of the screen, it seems like they got some space between the screen n the body, got something like not-compact. just the right-bottom side of the screen.

what i wanna ask is.. is all blackberry torch originally happen to be like this or problem in mine? sad.gif

thanks for the answer nod.gif

This is not normal.. I suspect a bloated screen. Try and have it checked. that is a manufacturing default.

edit: add on:

just have your thumbs running the screen. Is it one piece (like a bar) or a space (like an area, that's not straight) that is 'bloated'?

after going through the whole forum, i've found out that the Torch 9800 battery life is very short. There were ppl saying that the another battery( sun something) will be a bit longer or need carry an extra external battery charger ( energizer is recommended ). Is this true? my battery life sucks. I work at night, so i have the phone charged the whole day. when i leave to work and arrive, its down to half. By the end of the day, before i leave my work, it will be red. This is seriously a problem. What do u guys recommend? change battery or buy the external battery pack? Sure i have 3g on all the time, mostly on BBM and sometimes check FB. i dont have any applications running in the back ground.... as i know of when holding down the menu key.. other than that i dont know. Should i reformat the phone?? how do u do that by the way? thanks thanks thanks all!!!!

hi there..

i've been using almost for few years..and now torch owner..i had the same experience like yours..working around the clock and the batt drains pretty fast and that sucks big time..what i normally do is..i lower the screen brightness, make it into vibrate mode or medium..kill unuse apps..

and if ur using twitter..dont user ubersocial as that makes it faster...just use the normal twitter client for BB..and for now my batt lifespan last for 2.5days at a medium use.. (low usage on emails/browsing)

just my 2nd cent.. brows.gif as it works for me

and does anybody know roughly the estimation of cost of repairs for the touchscreen sensor? (some parts won't accept gestures)

When I was using the Torch 9800, I was using .666. It was a much improved version over the .600.

Battery life is better. Smoothness of the phone also better.

You need to register for a BIS plan, most Blackberry apps can't use wifi.
