If you are SAHM...pumping is just for you to keep stock (if you may go on holiday without baby or if you go out on your own ie shopping). If baby is gonna be with you at all time..if lazy..no need to pump so much tongue.gif

if i was a SAHM..i wouldn't pump tongue.gif

Heheheh...I dropped a pumping session gradually after my son started eating solids.

Just slowly drop it so that it doesn't affect your supply tremendously.

phythia, no la... tongue.gif was just wondering coz i read from the breastfeeding advocates that there's a few who bf while preggy... i wonder if i would b that strong if i were preggy... tongue.gif

when i was shopping today, there was a lady wif a 3mo baby on a stroller... she asked how old my baby was... that baby was wif mil n hb... i was behind them... mil asked how old was hers... both of them looked abt the same size n i asked if her baby was on fm tongue.gif she said she only pumped a little ebm only... then i told her abt the stuffs that i know that may work in increasing the milk supply n even got her email to send her links tongue.gif... u think i'm too 38/kepoh?

I think you're doing a great job in spreading awareness smile.gif

I'm done with feeding baby solely on breastmilk. Had finally introduced pureed sweet potato + ebm to baby. To date she ate chicken, fish, mashed potato (from Popeye's biggrin.gif) and her poop smelled awful sad.gif

Syd G..welcome to the world of smelly poop!! kekeekek...

I always wondered how a small little thing can emit awful smell..and the amount! gosh!

sbux..thanks for the tip..managed to upload my ticker..

nickit...i don't think you were being 8...it's a good way to spread the awareness. Some moms who bf..sometimes don't know that there are other moms who bf..and who are also going thru the same problems they do ie no supply..no support etc.

hello expert mummies, just starting (or stucked...) with my bf-ing after delivered my bbgirl last friday via ceaser (last minute head tak engaged and bb overdue)...

want to ask.. can I actually express the milk and keep at room temp for a few hours.. then use back the same container to express it the next session? coz I only got a few drips sad.gif damn stress..
been drinking fluids, soups for these few days.. but still when i look at the milk.. damn stress..

some more bb showing sign of relunctant to latch on since hosp they bottle feed her .. sad.gif haihz...

i tried to use manual pump - medela.. but it seems quite painful on the pumping mode.. or maybe because i have cracked/bleeding nipple since bb was latching on incorrectly for the past 2 days.

help! rclxub.gif

EnPoiNte, u can keep the milk for 2-4 hrs at room temperature... try to let bb suck often to stimulate the supply... perhaps others will have more concrete comments for u tongue.gif gambateh~!

EnPoiNte...congrats on your newborn! Keep trying to latch on as babies too need to learn wink.gif. you can leave the milk at room temperature as per nicKit advice. However, don't pump your milk into the same container (that still have milk from previous session).

Babies at about 1 week old has their stomach size of a pea. So..they generally drink lesser amounts of milk (don't worry if you can't produce 1 oz yet) but at frequent times.

As you just delivered last Friday, it could be your milk has yet to come in. Some takes 5-7 days (you do have milk at this moment but just not that much) for the milk to come in. At this point, you need to stimulate by making sure your baby suckle your breast. If can't, pumping should help but it may not be as good as direct. Please keep in mind that demand = supply.

Don't think that milk comes flowing..i can tell you that it doesn't for some (i'm one of them. My milk is always ngam ngam).

It's very normal for you to stress that u think that baby has not enough of milk..all of us have gone thru that road. Keep a positive mind..and just feed on demand.

You can try to drink fennel seeds or fenugreek seeds tea. Get someone to buy fennel or fenugreek seeds from supermarkets, found at the dried condiments section. Boil 1 teaspoon of the seeds in water and drink the water. Do this twice daily and you will see milk flow and increase. Try eating oats too. Do try out other methods as well as not all methods suit everyone.

The key to successful breastfeeding is patience and perseverance.

Good luck! If you have any doubts..do ask us.. we will try to advise you and support you. If you need a contact for a lactation consultant..do let me know and i can give you her number - Gina Yong (you may have heard of her)

BTW.. a few drips is good too..coz the first few drips called colustrum is the best! Keep on trying and don't stress (it's easier said than done)..coz it also causes the milk to decrease.

thanks ladies..
the first few days were so tough. only drips until i so stress everytime wanna pump. >.<
now baby doesn't want to latch on coz i guess she already had nipple confusion. too slow. tried to sooth her with it also cant, she can detect it's not the milk bottle when I tried to latch her on. sigh. sleep.gif

now pumping exclusively. pump then hand press some times can get up to 3 oz if i'm lucky (for both 'tank').. but take longer hours.. about 1 to 2 hours some times.. is this normal ar?
bad times sometimes 1 hour only 1 oz.. nurse came to see me and tell me not normal.. coz not enough stimulation..
the only stimulation I got is when looking at baby, then the milk will come.. but still in dripping form ... haih..

trying hard not too stress, drinks lots of water too... hopefully the next coming days will be easier.. now day 8 already... sweat.gif

Very good already. As long as u pump every 2 hours incuding midnight to stimulate production then ur milk would be more and more...

I only have 4oz from both tank every 4 hours during full moon.

EnPoiNte, I'm a new mum and at the beginning..it took me n now can easily get 4 oz in less than 30mins ...so..stimulate more and your body will produce more...I'll press while looking at my bb sleeping. It helps for milk letdown
