to b frank, at 3 mths old, the baby outgrow the clothes real fast...

aiya..sorry..dunno what's it called in Chinese as I can't speak chinese..(though i'm half chinese ). I bought it from Jusco..under the dried condiments (where you get those seeds for cooking)..they have the name in English..so that's how i found it...

u c all those dots dots on his forehead... he's heaty coz of the (breast) milk... should give him water to detox ( this is the first i heard... water to detox... but it's not plain water she give... glucose water... coz my boy dun gulp plain water as fast as glucose water... like my hb said, of coz our boy likes glucose water coz bm is sweet~! n when she ask me to give water, i'll give plain water coz glucose is not good for him~!! c the label... no glucose pls~!!)

mil, i dun mean to ridicule or disrespect... i just couldn't help it... everytime i tried to reason wif wat i know, she'll go "u dun believe me"... so i just everytime she tells me something n ends up wif "u dun believe me" "trust me"...

Fenugreek...can get from jusco too..well all supermarkets got lar at the dried condiments section.

Talking about BM being heaty..a colleague of mine kept on insisting that I shd give my son water (during the first 6 months) as BM is heaty..whereas FM is not. Gosh!!

bm is heaty whereas fm is not?? all thing ppl say... oh ya... din pump a bit today coz i've RUN OUT OF BOTTLE... ridiculous rite? so today suck, ebm, suck, ebm... argh... engorgement... i have storage bags but i keep thinking how wasteful to store just 3oz of 12oz into the bags... can put 6oz but i still dun have flat space for it to freeze... only side pocket (that's where i put my bottles... can rite?) available for storing ebm... any bright ideas?

Wow!! Good production!!

My production last time...was just enough..no extra..so always stress..afraid during growth spurts..not enough..but phew! still managed to fully bm for first 6 months...

My only problem is now..my production is not much as before..and I'm planning to wean by 2yo. But DS still only wants my milk..don't want to drink any other milk..though..he used to drink fresh milk eg Dutch Lady (I rather give fresh milk than formula) but then after 3 months of drinking..he didn't want anymore. So now he's back on BM..and when i dont have extra..my mom gets worried. He has good appetite though..so he eats whatever we give him.

Added on January 10, 2011, 10:48 amI used to drink the Milkmaid tea too..but ..yes..very expensive...so..i only drink that when i'm at work..but at home...i boil the fenugreek/fennel seeds...and then drink the water.

syd, the last i check i got 9 bottles of 3-4oz of ebm just for nite feeding... if i wanna do like u all i think i'll lag behind... so cute got sticker~!

phythia, how old is ur DS? i used to drink fenugreek seeds wif hot water... din boil coz kitchen is not my area... dunno which pot can use to boil...

din manage to pump last nite ending me passing a comment to hb "daddy help mummy" coz my boy was sleeping like a log (he usually nurse to sleep but he could sleep on his own yesterday hope tonite he can do the same)... but hb wasn't as effecient as baby i still ended up wif one sided engorgement... n now i know it taste like milkmaid-sweet

My DS is 17.5months old. I used to boil the seeds in the cooking pot (over fire). normal cooking pot that you cook soup or maggi mee can..

1 full day baru I can fill up 1 of those Bumble Bee bottle, so less.

By the way, if you leave the breast milk in the bottle in room temperature, can keep how long? If leave in fridge, how long? Freezer, how long?

freezer can keep for quite a long time.

fridge or room is like preparing to drink soon...
dun boil ur bm directly.
we always prepare a big cup or mug and put the whole bottle in with hot water in the mug to heat it up...
there r products in the market which heats up the bottled bm too.

If i'm not mistaken...leaving in room temperature..only max 4 hrs because of our weather. Fridge..max 2 days..Freezer..max 6 months.

If you take out the milk from freezer..you can't re-freeze it..so..it has to be used within a day or two.

To increase..try drinking more fluids..drink the fenugreek seeds 'tea' and get baby to direct feed..or schedule in more pumping session.

I read that to establish your supply..it's very important that during the first 1-2months of breastfeeding that you should direct feed the baby and don't give formula as..giving formula can indirectly signal your body that you don't need to supply much milk. The rule of breastfeeding is demand=supply.

From my experience...i didn't direct bf all the time for the 1st month..coz very tired..i pump so that my hubby can feed the baby at night while i slept..then..at exactly 1 month...i had no milk!! I couldn't pump...and my baby didnt want to latch on..dunno for whatever reason..luckily..a friend told me about the fennel/fenugreek seeds tea that i boiled every morning and evening and thus increased my supply...PHEW!

So i believe that it's true that you need to establish your supply by direct breastfeed only during the 1st months.
