"You Have a Baby" brand. The milk bags are cheap - less than RM30 for 100pcs.

Added on January 6, 2011, 9:58 amBtw am also thinking of testing milk-boosting tea. I want to stock up more brows.gif . Will be buying Earth Mama Angel Baby Milkmaid tea.

I follow WHO & Ministry of Health's recommendation. At the KKIA that I go to, got lots of posters reminding 'only breast milk for the first 6 months, no need water'.
No water needed for baby... my sister-in-law follow WHO recommendation, but now her >6 months baby, when she tries to feed her water, she does not want it, she only wants milk.

So now we feed our baby some water just in case. Harmless, right?!

If baby's dehydrated, yes. But feeding water for the sake of feeding water is a bit weird for me.

Btw water tastes horrible to babies since breastmilk is sweet wink.gif

I guess that's the reason why now SIL's baby only wants milk and not water. How long before baby's body requires water? 1 year old?

Breastmilk is 88% water smile.gif There are a lot of other ways to get water inside your body other than just plain water.

Porridge or soup, for example.

My wife couldn't produce much milk thanks to the confinement lady for not letting us breast feed. Fired that lady upon 2 weeks.

Anyway, here is a photo of my friend's production. She really is like a cow. Can open milk shop liao. So power.

I'll do a review.

I know it's sweet because of the lactose content

and because I tasted mine whistling.gif

I agree with SydG there. I only started offering water once baby starts solid food. Initially they will reject but just keep trying. My kid likes to drink water now, so I feel the 1st 6 months no water doesn't really affect them, IMHO.

For my dad who doesnt like plain milk, I put half chocolate milk and half plain milk. Doesnt taste that bad and wont have too much sugar calories either.

when my 2 babies were on bm, no water was given
my in-laws or parents hv no objections.
unlike milk powder, bm is real food, did not undergo any other 'un-natural' processing

QUOTE(merchant9 @ Jan 5 2011, 10:17 AM)
The baby can drink water, it probably wont cause wind. I think it's the mother that drink lesser water. Well, that's what practiced in my family anyway.

I am wondering between breastfeeding direct to baby and pump. Will the volume be the same? I pump about 4oz for morning and 4oz at night. I dont think this is enough for baby hence supplement with formula. My colleague who visit told me that if baby suck, the volume will be more than pump. My colleague breast feed her baby up to 2 years old for 3 kids!!!
*
Yes...what you pump out doesn't mean that it's the same volume as when your baby drink.

I'm still breastfeeding my 17mth old son. My only problem now is I plan to wean him off by 2 but no sign of him wanting to let go of his momma's boobies. He doesn't drink any other milk other than his momma's.

For those who were asking about how to increase milk production..these are the pointers:

1) Drink lots of fluids! water..juices..milk..though...milk can coz some reaction to certain babies (if they are lactose intolerant)
2) More demand..more supply...try to direct feed as often as you can..and try to schedule in extra pumping session if possible
3) Easier said than done...sufficient rest..it will interfere your production if you don't have much sleep/rest
4) Stress...is another contributing factor to low supply...
5) I used to boil fennel and fenugreek seeds and drink the water..twice a day

hope this info helps
