Hi guys! Just joined and downloaded the gpu client and started it immediately. Do I have to configure any additional settings? And wondering how much will it impact my electricity bill as I'll be using the gpu 24/7?

I'm wondering this also. Anybody can teach how to calculate the expected increase in electricity bill? I'm also still looking for ways to keep my gpu cool. GTX 570 at 65c at 80% fan speed is like airplane already.

hye..sooryy for late response..being busy with test.. tongue.gif
first of all mind, listed your folding rig...what gpu and cpu use..

for electricity bill on 24/7 operation, first you need calculate using below calculator how much power your rig consume...
once you know how many wattage your rig use..post it here..i will calculate it for you..
for instance, i can only give you approximate amount not much accurate but can use as reference..
Power Supply calculator

refer to my post above for electric bill..

gtx 570 use newer chip which GF 110 which highly power effecient and produce less heat..
is your case is well ventilate with cool air??
do you overclock your gtx 570??

my overclock gtx 460 at 900mhz core clock temp at 62'c on 24/7 folding operation..

Lets say 600w at full load. using worst case scenario, what will the the expected increase?

About the temp, i think it's decent, only a bit too noisy at that temp.

soorry for late reply..

for 600 watt worst case scenario, i assume you ar domestic user and live in malaysia..
below is tnb tariff..
user posted image

the calculation is:

600Watt/1000Watt=0.6 kW

0.6 kW x 24hour = 14.4 kWh which power consumption for one whole day..

than,

14.4 x 31 days = 446.4 kWh which for 1 month power consumption..

bill rate for domestic user more than 400 kWh per month is 28.6 sen

total is,

446.4 kWh x 0.286 sen= RM 127.70 (approximate)

thats abnormal..usually folding@home client will lower the resource it self when interface with any high resource program..

for example when you fold and surf at the same time..it wont cause hang..

mind explain a bit more about your problem..

do you overclock your pc...?? hmm.gif
if you have instability running folding@home at stock clock means there something wrong with your rig..
usually fold with 100% gpu wont cause any hang..i do fold with many card, the worst case scenario is your card automatically downclock to 2D clock speed..

70+ is ok and safe for both cpu and gpu..it wont burn or cause any thermal damage..chip have been test to run max at 100'c, so you still have a lot of headroom..
no need to be scared.. rclxms.gif
