Do i need a seperate client for GPU folding and CPU folding?
*
yes, you need separate client for them. brows.gif
CPU - uniprocessor client, smp client.
GPU - gpu client.

the uniprocessor client is their classic client with lower credit.
smp client and gpu client are high performance client with higher credit. brows.gif

you can found high performance client here: biggrin.gif

Actually, I install finish already, thats why i say tricky...so many words XD

And I'm not using it already, I noticed my cpu temp would skyrocket, so Im using the uniprocessor one already, which is now at Working(117/250), so I guess its working.

GPU one ran fine instantly.

I'm running a i7-950 and GTX570, both purely stock.

yes, the uniprocessor client is working.
but it is really great if you can use smp client,
since core i7 950 is a really fast cpu and can give you massive points. wink.gif

the folding@home is a project created by reknowned Stanford University in the USA and its main purpose is to find cures for protein-related diseases such as Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, cancer, Huntington's diseases, and others.

after install the software it will download work unit and start folding.
after the work unit have finish, it will send back the result to stanford. biggrin.gif

Welcome to F@M FauxHawk! Don't bother with the unirprocessor CPU client especially on your i7, you can still fold on your GTX570 until you get a better CPU cooler and try the SMP client.

If you have further questions about what F@H is about, please do post in the F@M forums instead.

See you there!

I wonder if there's any difference if I use the SMP client instead of uniprocessor client for my desktop as my desktop just having one processor?

You have a 950 right? That's ONE 4-core, 8-thread processor, can run SMP with -bigadv that allow you to get huge amount of credits once you complete in the preferred time.
If you have a decent cooling for your rig and very nice air-cond room, you should use the SMP with -bigadv, it'll helps lots.

bigadv only works in Windows - you'll need a passkey, and to qualify for bigadv you need to have folded 10 SMP WUs under the deadline first...do post in the F@M forum if you have any problems setting it up, we'll be glad to help!
